Barely saw 10% of the park with so many trails and beautiful water views of the river and lake. We will be back! Hot day in June so lots of folks swimming in the lake on trails near the visitor center. Well groomed trails throughout and good accessibility to Shovel Point with the boardwalk stairs going out and up there. Did not see any wheelchair or stroller navigable trails to the viewpoint however. Be sure to grab a trail map from the visitor center before setting out!!

A beautiful place to hike and enjoy nature. There are bathrooms here and they are fairly clean. The gift store has a nice selection of items. The employees are very nice. The paved trails are very easy to navigate through and they are very clean. There are multiple trails that lead outside from the paved trail. There is a lot of parking spots but expect it to be full. We got lucky and found one in the main lot. We did not go to the other lot. Per the state park employee, You do not need to pay for a permit as long as you're on the main lot. If you go pass the bridge to the other lot, you will need a permit. Overall, a very easy paved path and a very neat view of the area. Would highly recommend making a stop here if you love hiking.

So much to see! The hiking is great and the trails are well marked. Even tho it was quite warm, the trails are well shaded which really helped. We saw numerous waterfalls, then went to the west side of the park and hiked into the camp. Seeing the old cabins (which you can stay in when you make reservations) and reading of the interesting history really made it a fun experience. 😊

The cart in campsites are amazing. Very secluded/private! We had site D which was a bit of a hike from the parking lot. It took us 3 trips with the cart to bring everything to the site, but the carts are big and sturdy. We've always camped at drive-in sites in the past, and I gotta say, the beauty and privacy of the cart-in sites are well worth a little extra work. Ample edible berries along the trail--loads of ripe brambles and saskatoons. The mouth of the Baptism River as it flows into Lake Superior is beyond beautiful, and you can Wade in on the lake or river side of the sandbar. There was some severe weather during our visit. Our tent held up well, but it gave us piece of mind to know that the visitor center is open 24 hours in case we needed additional shelter. We can't wait to return again!

The visitors center is fantastic with a great rest area with well maintained restrooms. This was probably our third hike to Shovel Point. Our large family of all ages tried it the first time. It’s a decent quick hike for almost every family to the top of Shovel Point for some awesome panoramic views and pictures. Just over 1 mile round trip but with at least 180 stairs. So, it’s not an easy hike for those with bad knees or like today for my wife and I (sore legs after hiking the last few days at Grand Portage and the Canadian border).

High Falls was beautiful and the swinging bridge is a unique experience! Love that you get to see the falls from different angles. In early May the trails were still a little snowy and icy, but they are passable if you come prepared.

Great park, some great hiking paths. One of the best views on the shore(shovel point). It a reasonable hike a little bit over a mile there and back. But to be warned there a great number of stairs. Only complaint is the big beautiful relative new visitor center need to be open.

Variety of scenery at this park. Multiple waterfalls, cliffs, rivers, and beaches. The hike to Hi falls was in great shape though the bridge at the top was temporarily closed due to flooding. However you could still get full views of the waterfall. Two step falls was the second waterfall along the hike. Nice visitor center with a gift shop.

The hike to Shovel Point has a lot of steps but the woods are lovely. There's a lot to enjoy on the trail. The view from Shovel Point is awesome. We also got to stop on a beach along the way, climb the rock formations, and hang out with a dozen frogs.

This is a great state park situated about an hour drive north of Duluth, MN and just past Two Harbors. The visitor center is beautiful and recently updated, with good facilities and plenty of interactive and historical things to see inside. It also has firewood for sale in a covered shed. Shovel Point and Baptism River Mouth are great places to see and are both less than a mile walk from the visitor center. It’s the perfect place to see some of the best views along Lake Superior.

Wonderful modern building with improved restroom facilities and picnic area. Clean clean clean. Entertaining hiking trails wind along Lake Superior providing scenic overlooks and stunning vistas! Not a casual stroll if you want to go all the way to the point. Be sure to wear the right shoes and bring bug spray. Happy we went! Open 24/7

High falls and two step falls are great, the visitor center is nice and it has everything you need! Most staff are friendly. However, all the other hiking trails are overgrown and not maintained. Some are completely impassible. The campsites are pretty close together and some are very rocky with lots of roots, not nice for tent campers. They warn about keeping food away from bears, but don't provide any bear lockers or anything. Overall it's just an okay site. Probably worth staying for one night just to check out the falls and surrounding areas, but I wouldn't consider coming back unless they actually maintain the trails

Very nice area. There is a lovely walk, with many stairs down to Lake Superior. The path is very clean, and there are many views of Lake Superior. There is no handicap access as far as I can tell.

Great trails to hike, there are some closed so you need to ask beforehand to make sure you can enjoy all this park has to offer. It has camping grounds and park rangers are present all the time. In summer you'll find beautiful flowers along the trails but come with your insect repellent if you don't want to fell miserable!

There is a great visitor center here and plenty of parking. There are also a ton to different trails and hikes to explore. The water is decently warm in the river that leads into Lake Superior, and you could definitely swim in it. Some of the falls require many stairs, so come prepared with water.

The park is in a forest and is just off US 61. There is a highway rest stop and Visitor Center combined with access to a multitude of trails. There are water falls, birds, chipmunks and many other things to see and do. There is a scenic view overlooking Lake Superior close by.

Absolutely wonderful place. The shovel point and the baptism rivers are a must. Palisade's head is breathtaking but finding parking on a busy day or weekend is challenging/tricky. No bugs even on a summer day.

Beautifully maintained and decorated visitor center. Several trail options including down to the mouth of Baptism River Beach, along the rocky cliff shorelines or even waterfalls. Definitely worth the stop. They even have a small cafe on the inside!!

Tettegouche State Park is a beautiful, expansive park filled with so many amazing places to hike, wander, and explore. The beach is pristine, perfect for agate hunting, sitting on the rocks/sand, or just walking and observing the waves. The staff here are also very kind and helpful, willing to answer any questions and provide suggestions as needed.

Moderate hiking ability to Cascade Falls with uneven ground, stairs, some guard rails in need of repair and fallen trees blocking trail twice. 7, 16, and 40 year old able body individuals made it to falls. Bay area is beautiful and easy hike but has some stairs.

Took the family on a quick hike to Shovel Point. Just over 1 mile round trip but with at least 180 stairs. Nice trail but not for those with bad knees. Great panoramic views. Highly recommend.

Nicely maintained, beautiful visitor center. Great waterfalls and views. Went on a Sunday afternoon in August, it was busy but not crazy.

We only explored Palisades head at this park. We drive up to the top. Great views and nice little hike to explore at the top of Palisades head.

This is one of my favorite state parks. Stayed at cart-in camp site k once. Was great! Highly recommend the Shovel Point hike!

This is a lovely State Park. Lots of trails. Very interesting history of the place. Nice waterfalls and fun places overlooking Lake superior. Everything is very clean in the new visitor center is top notch. Campsites were neat and quiet. Also, staff are very friendly and helpful. If I was to critique anything, it would be things need some updating, but everything was in good working order. I hate the press and hold shower button, but it worked as it was designed to. Just a beautiful place. Great for getting away and close to many beautiful North Shore sites.
