As a local photographer in Lake Oswego I’m always looking for good locations for future photoshoots. Whether I’m photographing nature, landscapes, or people I need a beautiful safe location and this park hits all the marks. Gorgeous flowers ✅ Stunning greenery ✅ Wildlife ✅ body of water ✅ Plenty of parking ✅ Bathrooms ✅ Safe part of town ✅ I’m glad I randomly stopped by a few months ago. I’ll attach a few photos from recent photoshoots I did so you can see what it looks like. It’s a great place for an easy walk with the family or a day on the water with a loved one. Highly recommend.

My family and I had an amazing time at this park! It's perfect for families with kids as it is very kid-friendly. We were also pleasantly surprised to find out that our furry friends are welcome too! The park is well-maintained and very clean. We appreciated the efforts of the staff to keep the area tidy. Overall, we had a great experience at this park. It's a wonderful place to spend time with loved ones while enjoying the outdoors. We highly recommend it to anyone looking for a fun and relaxing day out.

Such a great park to take kids! The playground is one of the best we've visited so far - lots of structures to climb on, a game of twister, and a sand box with lots of toys in it, that I am guessing community members leave there for the kids. Super cute. And then the river is great too, lots of shallow areas. Overall excellent for an outting with kids.

I love to kayak here when I need to just get away. Its fun to swim, do boat sports and play with your kids. When it is warm out there tends to be a lot of people. During the colder months it's quieter and people like to feed the ducks. The geese are quite unafraid as well. If you live in the area and haven't visited, I recommend it.

This park has so much to do! There is a playground area for all ages! The sand pit has communal toys that stay there permanently. On the same level there is a pickle ball court, and a sports field. The next level down has a large grassy area for picnics and playing. Lower still is the river beach. Sometimes you find dogs off of the leash, but mostly the dogs are under control. There isn’t much shade at the beach in the Sandy area. Be sure to bring an umbrella and plenty of sun block. Everyone shares toys and plays together. If you are insular, this really isn’t the park for you.

There’s a lot that I love about this place. Kayak rentals (through Alder Creek), the clean restrooms, rich history, and amazing trails are just the start. However, parking can be congested so I suggest you arrive early. Super family friendly but also lots of dogs- just fyi. Our family loves seeing the pups swim and enjoy themselves, we’ve never had an issue. I have happily noticed that officers stop by the park often, I assume just to check things out. Great vibes and people.

Wonderful park with a good mix of sports fields for soccer and baseball, playgrounds, the picnic area and a wonderful shoreline along the Willamette River. The remnants of the old iron smelter from back when Lake Oswego was known as the "Pittsburgh of the West" are here. There are lots of historical plaques and signs in the area around the iron smelter, which tell you the history of the area as well as showing you historical photos. The halfway down to the river is nice. There's a steep set of stairs near the lower restrooms, and at the other end of the lower grass area there's also a ramp that goes down in a zigzag pattern as well as steps. Those and just above where Oswego Creek comes into the Willamette River. There's Creek and the Willamette River to Old River Drive. You can turn around here and go back to the park or continue walking on Old River Drive (which is fairly popular to do) The playground up top is nice and kid friendly, and the sports filled up top are popular for soccer and baseball. There are restrooms between the playground, sports fields and tennis courts. Picnic area is just below the playground between the upper part and the lower part, and has a nice covered section. There is parking download near the iron smelter, next to the picnic area and then up top next to the sports fields. Parking on the other side of the park is along the road. Overall, this is a nice well-kept park that is quite popular and had lots to do.

I had a future photo shoot to do here at this park, so I decided to come before hand to familiarize myself. I must say, I was NOT disappointed! For how small it was, it had a lot to offer!

This park does definitely get busy but don’t all water ways get busy in Oregon when it gets hot 🥵?! Mostly families, kayakers, paddle boarders, dog walkers and sun soakers can be found here. The park is big enough for comfortable distance and breathing room. All in all, it’s a great place to enjoy the river.

I had the opportunity to visit this park for the first time last weekend for our annual family photo session. While I haven’t viewed the professional proofs yet, I already know that they are going to be amazing. How could they not be in such a beautiful location? Tucked into the heart of downtown LO, there are so many unique settings located within this beautiful park that you are guaranteed to end up with dozens of stunning photos, even if you are just snapping a couple of candids with an iPhone like we did in the pics below. While I didn’t have the opportunity to explore all the amenities that this park has to offer, if you are searching for a location to take some gorgeous photos that is not too far off the beaten path, then you do not need to look any further. This hidden gem will not disappoint. There is also plenty of free parking on site as well.

This is an awesome park. I really enjoyed sitting by the water, in this peaceful bend in the southern Willamette River. It’s far enough away from downtown Portland that it’s really calm. And I’m sure, later in the summer, when the the water is warmer, it will be a wonderful place to wade into the water. Very well laid out and organized, not a lot of people there during the week, lots of wildlife, and people enjoying the river. It’s a little difficult getting here by bike. Especially moving through downtown Lake Oswego. But Tryon Creek State Park has a wonderful bike route. You can connect to it via several routes from Northeast Portland. I heartily recommend the trip and the park.

Love this park! So much to do and see with great access to the Willamette River. Park is ADA accessible so all can enjoy the outdoors. Includes the old historic iron furnace as part of the park. Includes tennis, baseball fields, a playground, picnic tables spread throughout the park. Large green area to play or get your paddle board or kayak set up to get in the water. Tons of places to take family or sr pics.

What a beautiful piece of history right in the middle of the city. You can walk, have a picnic, kayak, cook some food, swim or just admire the beautiful grounds of this park. Rain or shine this is a park you do not want to miss. Don’t forget to stop by to read about the rich history of the area.

As you walk in from the parking area there is a grassy opening with room for picnicking or groups to gather and maybe toss the Frisbee or stretch out on a blanket for a bit before walking down the ramp or stairs to the beach. They're also seems to be several trails although I did not explore those myself so I cannot comment on that. The beach is a mix of mostly sand and some rocks but the rocks are smoothed down from time and not sharp overall. It's a perfect place to wade into the water if you decide to get your feet wet. And it was a little bit crowded but not too bad on the day I visited. The water was cool but pleasant in late July and it remains fairly shallow (less than waist high on the average adult) for a couple yards before a rather sudden and steep downslope. Due to that I would say it is a nice spot to bring children and have them wade or even swim but only as long as there is an adult with them in the water - not just watching from the shore.

Despite living in Oregon for a few years, we’ve been to this park for the first time today and regretted not coming earlier. We had such a blessed time as a family. The capacity of the beachside is not too big. But there is also a big green area at the parking level.

Beautiful place. It's not very crowded, quite & peaceful. Well maintained & clean. No play structure for kids but its fun picnic spot or day near water. Not sure how good the water is for play, swim.
