1st time visit at this restaurant 2/13/20. Had friends that set up reservations for 6:15 for dinner and looked forward spending the night with them. The place had a nice crowd but not overly busy so service should not be a problem . Initially, I had gone online and looked at the menu and was surprised that it was simple but had many intriguing options . I had heard that everything was locally sourced and that the hamburgers were the best in the area. When we sat down we were given the standard menu along with a Valentine's menu which included 3 appetizers, 3 main courses and 3 desert options. You pick and the cost was $49.00 . This is were things got complicated. Of the 4 things I wanted off of the menus they didnt have available, including the on the Valentine's menu. No fresh pasta, no fresh cake and no soup of the day. Ken, who I guess was the manager tried to explain that tomorrow everything will be available, but not tonight. My question is why advertiser food items as special when you dont have them in the back to make. Felt sorry for the waitress, which she was excellent, because she kept apologizing time after time after time. Nevertheless , I had the steak and prawns and both were excellent. The steak was better than anything I have had at any local steak restaurant in town. The prawns, which actually were just large shrimp, were also fresh and flavorful. My wife and I will give it one more try and update ratings. I'd would have given this restaurant a 5 but the circus with ordering food brought it down to a 4. Rebuttal to owners response. If you dont have the ingredients simply dont advertise the offerings.

Fantastic farm to table restaurant. Incredible how hard it is to find farm fresh restaurants with organic food. Plus their service is always great and a warm atmosphere. My wife loves that it almost feels like a trip to the city. I'm happy that she's happy without having to go to Chicago. ;)

This restaurant is my favorite site. Of all restaurants I know I prefere it most. I always suggests to my friends to go to visit this place. everytime I feel like having a decent supper, this place comes right away to my mind. splendid and diverse food and a large menu.generous staff members, and pleasant spirit. In addition to that, the pay is good. I suggest this place with great pleasure.

At the first moment you enter this restaurant team give you an agreeable feeling. Very courteous team, it is a lovely place to go out with buddies or with your date. heavenly cuisine, experienced chief cook and stuff, decent cost and courteous service. Highly recommended.

I visit this spot a lot since I work nearby. I have to say the customer service is always great and they keep the place well kept all the time. Rates are affordable and they serve big portions.

My experience at the restaurant was not the best. The buzz phrase here is "farm to table" which sounds very promising. The staff is very nice and friendly, but unfortunately the drinks and food need work. I asked for a drink that was not on the menu, it is a very simple drink and they said they could make it for me. They brought something that did not even resemble it, but that's ok, I sent it back and asked for a glass of wine. The wine was clearly opened a couple of days prior because it was completely oxidized. They have a lengthy wine list that they are not selling judging by the number of open wine bottles on the bar. How can a bar not know that a wine bottle needs to be opened the same day! I ordered a beet salad and I was expecting fresh beets to be one of the main ingredients, I was wrong. They brought a bowl that was jam packed with lettuce and yellow beets cut up in tiny little cubes sprinkled on top. It was impossible to eat a salad out of this tiny soup bowl. The burger was decent especially for the price, but the fries were cold and had more salt on them than I would eat in a week. I realize that this area is completely lacking high quality restaurants and people settle for mediocre, but to me this was not acceptable.

We enjoyed a delicious dinner and wonderful evening chatting with friends at this wonderful restaurant. My wife and I split a huge ribeye steak, specially procured and cut by the owner. It was served with French fries and green beans hat were delicious spiced. The service was also excellent. We will return.

Went here for a much deserved “Date Night”. It was a Friday night so it was busy. All started out great. Bacon wrapped dates, a little crunchy but still ok. Flat bread was just ok as well. Wine was good! Just don’t ask for water and expect to get it! We asked twice then saw other tables get theirs and the waitress even told us she would bring our water. Never came. Maybe it was my remark “Must be nice to get water” that set the waitress off…Her comment was “All you had to do was ask! Then it was slamming plates and rude behavior. We could tell they were short staffed but all we wanted was water!

Don't let the exterior fool you. This restaurant provides outstanding food and service, not to mention a slew of wines AND a full service bar. My first time here and I couldn't choose what to get so we shared a bunch of apps and sides. From the lamb Meatballs to flat breads, truffle fries... Everything was delicious. I can't wait to go back soon.

Couldn't be happier with food and service we had. Atmosphere is a relaxed wine bar. So it was perfect for a nice date that wasn't too high end. The service was great and food and drinks were great value. Huge beer selection and cocktail selection to go with wine list.

Zin GastroPub is a gem! I'm forever grateful to our friends that introduced us to this wonderful spot as we never could have imagined food and wine this good in Lake Zurich!!! Something for everyone - from a burger and a beer at the bar to a delightful 4-course meal with perfect wine pairings (ask Ken for his excellent suggestions). We try to go as often as possible and the food and wine never disappoint...not to be missed for anyone in the Northwest suburbs and totally worth the drive or Uber ride from further away.

We love going out. Last night we arrived in this fine restaurant which friends told us about. We spent a delightful time there with very good dishes and a professional crew and a great cuisine. We put this fine restaurant in our phone list and we shall definitely visit again very soon. We warmly recommend.

Always enjoy going to Zen. Open and friendly atmosphere. The staff is always friendly and welcoming to their restaurant you should make a reservation because it seems they get busy in the evening. You should try joining their wine of the month Club to see what exciting type of wineries are out in different countries. Great place to eat

The owner spent quite a bit of time entertaining us with conversation and one sensational course after another. The fine Italian wine was a pleasant surprise. It was my first time there. I will definitely return.

Charcuterie was great, host was delightful. Unfortunately, they were sold out of some of the beers we wanted but otherwise we’ll return for another pleasant experience.

We decided to give Zin a try on a Friday night, but the place appeared to be completely packed/reserved. The owner, however, really wanted us to stay and emptied some room at the bar so we can sit there. We stayed and didn't regret. The place is more about atmosphere and this friendly feel. First, I thought everyone in were regulars, but in a little bit, I felt like we were as much welcomed as regulars would've been, even though it was our first time here. My girlfriend is more about like fine-dining, while I was going to try their burger - the reviews described it quite promising. Thus, other than the burger, we ordered Pear & Artisan Cheese Flatbread with a side of House Marinated Olives. Latter were really good, I tried one, I just did not expect them to be served warm, so it was a bit of a new experience for me, but they were delicious. In her turn, my girlfriend really enjoyed the flatbread, she says cheeses were super fresh and well-blended, arugula was fresh as well, and the bottom crisp was golden brown, super thin and not a bit soggy. Burger was decent, nothing out of this world, but quite fresh and flavorful; what I'd like to mention separately is that I choose truffle fried on the side, and they were really really good. Also worth mentioning, is that Zin's crew does support local and small farms and breweries, not only by offering their produce and beer respectively, but also making notes on the menu, where those came from. I do appreciate that so much personally, as those small places bring in some spirit into common things, unlike those you can get from huge corporations, that make billions of the same products. As to the drinks, they feature a long cocktail list, as well as quite a few tap beers. The bartender lady always keeps the shaker by you, so you can make yourself a refill once done - which is a nice little touch (most places are greedy, they are unlikely to let you do so, instead of ordering another drink, I guess). On the pic below, is a cucumbertini. Therefore, as you may've guessed by now, we were pleased with a great food and outstanding service at Zin. We will definitely come back one day, menu has so much more promising stuff!

Great place to go for dinner and drinks. Very fresh from local farms. Loved the pork chop dinner. Hamburgers are delicious. Ken recommends great wines. He is very attentive. Server's are awesome. The owner comes around and is very friendly. Love this place.

This place is our new favorite. The food is great; the atmosphere is posh and comfortable at the same time. The owner and staff are amazingly personable, wine connoisseurs at that, and they love bantering with customers. It feels like a friend's space. I loved it so much that I am taking 9 of my friends next.

First time and probably last. Like others have said, wanted to like this place, but fell short. Owner or manager gave a nice greeting but didn't give us much attention after that (perhaps if we had ordered wine?). Waittress kept disappearing and kitchen was slow. Drunken mussels were decent, Ceasars salad was very fishy tasting and had to be sent back to change out to different dressing. I've had this salad made tableside at an upscale restaurant with fresh anchovies, it isn't that I'm turned off by a flavor of anchovies in my salad. This tasted like old fish. New York strip was small, thin and overcooked (maybe rested too long) but tender and had nice flavor. Truffle fries were good but a bit salty. Veggies were cooked nicely and had good flavor as well. Overall, the experience was disappointing. The restaurant was so cold, it would help to maybe just turn up heat a bit. The waitress would make some efforts and accommodate but only when we saw her. The owner or manager was just not there for us at all...very attentive to another table or two, just not us. If we had wanted to suggest any tweaks, he wasn't interested.

Small restaurant with a bar area that has an adequate variety of delicious food. Service is good, prices are reasonable and atmosphere is relaxed. They also have take out with meals package very well for traveling home. I highly recommend trying out and supporting this local restaurant.

I've loved Zin Gastro Pub since I tried it for the first time last year. It's hard to get a reservation because their restaurant is popular and the food is just to die for. The ambiance is fantastic, it's dark and romantic with lively vibe. Plus they have such awesome selection of unique wines that are both affordable and delicious.

We recently moved from Chicago and were delighted to discover Zin. My husband was happy to see a small line on Saturday evening - a sure sign of a good meal in his opinion. I was happy to see the thoughtful wine list, local beers on tap and a small menu of farm-to-table dishes. The kitchen was a tad slow, but everybody was so friendly and everything we had was delicious. I’m happy to recommend the bacon wrapped dates, lamb meatballs and tuna steak, and we’ll be back to try everything else. What a gem.

Underwhelming. I wanted to like Zin, I really did but the food was just bad and took FOREVER. The food sounded good on the menu but the kitchen staff wasn't able to deliver. The seafood didn't taste fresh, the cheese burger was over cooked and the macaroni and cheese was just sad, soupy, watery and not at all cheesy! Maybe it was an off night... But I won't be back to find out

Love this place. My wife and I come here often for a nice dinner and Vino. The staff is amazing. Very friendly and welcoming. Menu is very Farm to Table. They take pride in sourcing everything locally. Lots of fav’s on the menu but they often surprise with some delicious specials too. A must try if you haven’t been here yet.

The food here is some of the best in Lake Zurich! The atmosphere is intimate and inviting and the service makes you feel like family. This is a great date night spot and is definitely one of those hidden gems that checks all the boxes of you're looking fora great local restaurant experience.

We had a group of 14 ladies. Had wine tasting and some horderves that was just a fun afternoon. Ken the owner was very knowledgeable about wines and their origins. What wine to pair with certain foods. Plus very entertaining at the same time. We would go again.

The food was nice. Bar tender was not wearing a musk. Server was wearing one. I work in a restaurant. We sanitizer all our furniture inside and outside after every use. . The outside furniture was dirty. So no sanitizer has been used. We used our own wipes.

We went for a joint event with Zin & Copper Fiddle Distillery. This was our first time at Zin. The food was excellent! Each course was delicious! (menu pictured) The drink pairings were wonderful. In addition, the staff and ambiance enhanced our experience!!

Our food was amazing!!! There were 6 of us, all of which have never visited a "scratch kitchen" and were nervous and unsure what to expect. We each ordered something different, enjoyed everything and loved sharing our picks, each claiming ours was the best! We are so grateful the original place we had planned to dine at, was overcrowded, and we stumbled upon this gem!! It was beyond our expectations!! Our server made our night. She was so attentive, so friendly, funny and responsive to our every need. Pretty sure my 3 year grandson experienced his 1st crush tonight! Thank you to everyone @ Zin GastroPub for making us feel right at home!! We are already planning a night to be back!!!

We like a lot hanging out. Yesterday we went to this excellent place which we didn’t know before. We passed a lovely time there with very good meal and an experienced crew and a distinguished cuisine. We put this restaurant in our list and we shall surely visit again soon. We highly recommend.
