The waitress Micha was very sweet nice atmosphere. Food was good Southern style and even in old times pots. The dessert 🍨 section I thought would be better with like bread pudding and more variety but overall it was nice. I also thought the rocking chairs outside the front added great country charm.

How a Buffet SHOULD be done! I will say, I was a little worried at first when I saw the price ($18.49 for unlimited buffet trips at time of writing), but was pleased to see options such as "veggie only", or even a single plate option for much cheaper...That being said.. Anything that you remember your grandmother cooking for you, that took all day to cook... well, its phenomenal here! Pot roast, BBQ, and collards were all cooked extremely well, making this place live up to its motto of Slow Food, Fast. Add to the phenomenal food, some of the best service I've seen in a long time, and you have the makings of a 5 Star Buffet. Well worth the stop if you're in the area.

Fred’s Market is a local Southern buffet chain located in locations in Central Florida. The decor of the restaurant is very spacious, and is very new. The service was good. The food can go its ways. The biscuits are good and fluffy, the cheese eggs are nice, everything was good and affordable. Overall, would definitely recommend checking out.

Living an hour away, we don't get to come here often. Whenever we are remotely in the area though, we do make it a point to come here and eat. A lot. Being from NC and growing up on country cooking, Fred's Market ALWAYS checks off the home cooking box for me. The pulled pork is on point, the fried chicken, tasty. Tonight they also had ribs, turkey and gravy, country fried steak and gravy, and they seem to always have crispy fried catfish. Like country veggies? They have PLENTY! They also have a salad bar, but who comes here for salad?

Most awesome buffet with Southern favorites. The salad bar had all the usual options. Fried chicken breast was crispy and moist. Ribs were tasty. Strawberry shortcake was awesome. The service was efficient and friendly. We were able to be seated right away on a Wednesday night. Tables were mostly full.

Amazed by the look and food of this restaurant. Wasn't expecting that it would be a buffet, so yes, it was much better. The food was really good, and a very extended variety. They are clean and organized. They had gloves to use when serving your food. The servers were friendly, and they explained to us what we needed to do, sense it was our first time there. Overall, if you are a local or passing by, you should go and have some good food. 👍

I heard about this restaurant a few weeks ago and decided to try them today when we were nearby. Wow! If you like traditional southern cooking, stop reading this and go to Fred's. Their menu changes but today we had green beans, macaroni and cheese, corn casserole, collard greens, black eye peas, sweet plantains, mojo pork, fried green tomatoes, fried catfish, fried chicken, corn bread, biscuits and more. They have a dessert bar but we managed to skip it (diuh-beetus). However, the best part of the meal was the salad bar which brings me to my only complaint. Why does the salad bar have smaller plates? Service was also great. Our server was very sweet and attentive but I overheard other servers around us and they all seemed very friendly. Can't wait to go back.

It was fairly busy, I had a table for 6. Food was good. Ribs were excellent. Our Server Beverly did a great job. Only complaint was for the dessert line. While it is a buffet style restaurant and you serve yourself, they had a server for the dessert line and that slowed it down greatly. There were 3 kids in our group and they went through the desert line when they finished their meals and each time it took 10 to 15 minutes to get through the long line. That extended our stay for over 20 minutes. I also want to note that I sat underneath a vent and it was dripping drops of water on me.

A buffet with a lot of options in “down home” cookin. The food is decent and the space is big. I've tried a little bit of just about everything here now and there are definitely a few really good dishes. Most could definitely use more flavor... mainly add hot sauce and it's on point. The price for my daughter and I was very reasonable but only because she's 12. Kids 12 and under eat free Monday-Thursday, so we got out at just under $20 +tip.

I've eaten here 3 times so far and plan to go again today. It really is the best food. The selection of great foods surprises me each time. I wish they had a restaurant in Tennessee where I live. Yesterday I had mashed potatoes, macaroni and cheese, yellow rice, black beans, roasted pork, plantains, fried green tomatoes, corn casserole, a hot buttery roll, and finally some warm caramel bread pudding with ice cream. I wanted to try everything but nobody could do that because there are way too many choices. Try this for yourself and you won't be disappointed.

Here is the deal! If you want REAL Southern cooking! And I mean REAL in cast iron cooking! This is the place to come!! It's a Buffet restaurant and well worth the price! There was nothing on the bar that I tried that wasn't good. The fried green tomatoes and the sweet potato casserole was just like Grandma makes! The fried chicken and the mashed potatoes made me wonder if the spirit of my mother was guiding the cooks in the kitchen. So if you are ever in the Lakeland Florida ever and want to dine on the Best southern cooking outside of Moms and Grandmas kitchen. Stop in and feast on this amazing food!!

I was really in the mood for some great Southern comfort food. I drove over an hour (Minneola to Lakeland) because this was/is the best place I could think of. Thankfully, Fred's did not fail!! The food was just as good yesterday as it was over 2 years ago.😋 I really wish Fred's in Lake Mary didn't close. Also, the pricing structure isn't too bad considering everything cost more these days.

Monday, September 18 3:30 PM Well mercy!! Just had “linner” (lunch/dinner) at Fred’s Market Restaurant in Lakeland. Larry and I talked about it all the way home which was a 45 minute commute. Best buffet ever! Puts all others to shame. Their logo says, ‘Slow food - fast’ … home cooking at its best. I made 2 trips to the buffet to get MORE collard greens 😂 What we ate: Salad bar salads including pasta salad, potato salad, and coleslaw. Fried catfish, fall off the bone ribs, fried chicken. Mashed potatoes, gravy, corn casserole, collards, white beans, baked sweet potato and Mac n cheese. Hot rolls, cheesy biscuits and cornbread. Strawberry shortcake. Not one thing did we rate as ordinary or just OK. Every item was fresh, hot and seasoned perfectly. Our bill for 2 “All you can eat” choices was $34.16 Highly recommend They also offer a loyalty program ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

it was alright, i wouldn’t go back, as it’s not worth $23 per person. if the food was seasoned properly it would be, but it’s not. everything is just, missing something, seasoning wise. especially salt. the fried chicken was good. just as i was on my 2nd plate, a cockroach crawled out from my booth. i got sick and couldn’t eat anymore, so did my boyfriend. the waiter saw and told the manager, we got our food free, (we didn’t complain). even though they were very apologetic we won’t be back.

I love this Southern home food spot. When you walk in you get this Southern hospitality feeling. They see you get your drinks and then you go to the buffet they had a lot of choices of sides. And maybe about four selections of different meat( ribs chicken fish beef tips). A couple of the desserts were good I would recommend the pecan pie or the red velvet the banana pudding really didn't have any flavor. For two people the bill was $41.

'Ello chaps, Fred's Market is a stable in the Polk County community -- offering breakfast, lunch, and dinner buffet service. With multiple locations, and roots going back to 1954, Fred's Market offers a variety of hot food, cold food, and dessert items in their buffet. Fried fish, fried chicken, pot roast, you'll find it all, along with sides of greens, mac and cheese, mashed potatoes. They say they focus on Southern Cookin' and Generous Hospitality. Folks around here rave about the peach cobbler, but there's also banana pudding and ice cream. There are a variety of hot and cold veggie options too, including a great salad bar. The restaurant is clean and servers are friendly. Overall I give Fred's Market four stars out of five.

Country cooking at its best. Multiple generations have perfected the recipes, making the food with love. They have a one-trip price that includes dessert. Great value, but if you need more food, it’s just a couple of dollars more to return as many times as you want to. I love the hot peach cobbler with ice cream. Ice cream flavors include butter pecan, chocolate, or vanilla. Fred’s market has three locations. If you’re driving a semi or large truck, you can always park it in the back at the plant city market. Fred’s Market is a quick detour off of I-4.

Used to be great, now it's kinda ok. Food wasn't exactly hot or fresh. Gravy had a funny smell and tasted burnt. A couple next to us said the same thing. Fried chicken was over cooked and dry. But the beef tips and white rice was great. So was the turkey and rice soup! Definitely couldn't complain about either of those.
