Stunningly beautiful gardens in the middle of downtown Halifax. I highly recommend walking through if you’re in the area. Note: no dogs, running, or bicycles

So beautiful, peaceful, clean, well maintained garden, free walk-in, parking on the street $1.50/hr. Public Wifi available. Even on a hot day, nice breeze inside the garden. Grab a sandwich and a drink, find a bench with shade by the water, enjoy your meal, take nap if you want 🤣 keep the area clean. #animals are not scared of human presence

Nice park in the middle of the city, wish we had more time to walk through it. Lots of flowers in the summer and green grass. There’s a body of water and lots of trees and pathways. There’s a water fountain, some statues, and it’s a gated park. Quaint location. Parking is free after 6PM around the park.

Beautiful place even during the winter. Lots of ducks here, seagulls and pigeons. Very nice plants and trees. I like the atmosphere here, it feels like Autumn English park. Very cozy and nice. In the centre of the park you can find a little lake. Also, a great 200 yo fontaine here. Totally recommend this place for walking and spending weekends.

A perfect place to relax on a bright clear day. This colorful place is exactly the thing you need to get away from the city. Situated in the heart of the city, it's a nice retreat with a small river, a happening crowd, and a lot of events that take place.

Beautiful garden and maintained very well! The paths are easy to walk on. The flowers were in full bloom. There were people just taking a stroll, sitting on park benches, or grabbing a bite with friends/coworkers. Great place to eat outside. I can imagine locals coming here for daily walks. There are probably events held at the park as well during the summer. So glad I got to visit while I was in Halifax!

An amazing garden! So much to see and learn of the different trees and flowers, and it's all free. Good rest stop as well if u are on the hop on hop off bus. They have tons of flowers and bushes and gardens to see - there is entertainment if you look it up on the website.

These gardens are one of the highlights of my vacation in Nova Scotia. The smells from the flowers were wonderful. There are ample places to sit on a park bench and admire the flowers or watch the ducks in the pond. The sheer size of the gardens is impressive. There is a café which serves coffee, ice cream, and other sweets. I know flowers are flowers but if you have chance, fit the gardens into your day.

If you are seeking a serene experience in the middle of the hustle and bustle this is the perfect place to stop by! Everywhere you look you are surrounded by beauty here. From the tree lined pathways, the flower designs, pond, gazebo or even the water fountain that has been there since Queen Victoria 👸 There is so much for the eyes to capture. Kids will love it here too as there are ducks, fish and other critters for them to get excited about here. I do recommend taking the time to read the various signs that explain the rich history of these gardens. There are even signs that explain the various trees and vegetation around the garden too. Street parking can be a bit scarce, but there is underground parking near the main entrance that is relatively inexpensive. We paid $6 for 3 or 4 hours. I feel so fortunate to have the opportunity to experience these gardens.

This garden is a true public gem. When looking for ways to improve the quality of life of their residents, other cities should be looking at this garden for inspiration. Each time I visit Halifax, I aim to come here, as this garden is gorgeous.

A must see if you're visiting Halifax! Admission and tours are free, and the gardens are breath taking and detailed. The added historical information you'll get from a 30-45 minute tour from one of the volunteers is well-worth it! Harry was our tour guide and his commentary added a lot to our visit! I only wish our trip would have overlapped with the Dahlia festival. They also regularly host events, so be sure to check out what's on. We missed a classical trio by a day 🙃

Do you love flowers and have a couple of hours to spare - then go here. Entry is free and it's in the hub of Halifax - saw a lot of buses so it's well connected I think. You can walk around or sit and enjoy all the different flowers. if you are driving then there's parking just outside the gardens.

Stunning display of Victorian gardens, carefully laid out and well tended for public enjoyment. Tours are offered and Volunteers are available to answer questions. A small coffee shop offers lighter fare for a snack. Test rooms are also available on site. Lovely bridges and meandering water features are planted with lovely trees, shrubs, and flowers. A must see for the garden enthusiast.

The public gardens are absolutely beautiful! It's quiet and calm in the morning. If you get there as it opens, you can find many sleepy adorable ducks! The flower displays are gorgeous, I especially enjoyed finding the indigenous games garden display. Highly recommend!

A very beautiful garden in the heart of the city.. All the flowers are neatly planted and colourful display everywhere ranging from annuals, tropicals and perennials all combined in amazingly arranged flower beds for people to enjoy. No dogs allowed.there’s very old fountains around and planted trees to commemorate special occasions from coronations to being the leaders of uprising against enemies. Etc etc etc. accessible almost any point in the city that surrounds the garden.

Visited mid-June and the park was a riot of color and gorgeous trees and bushes. Some of the beds were still waiting to be planted, but the grounds are quite beautiful, with the pond being a great feature. I liked how the trees were labeled as well. Great place to stroll with a coffee before starting your day.

Its the perfect spot to sit and read a book or watch the ducks and fish! I come here every week and it somehow makes you feel like you left the city. Also this is the spot if you love plants! They have so many different varieties!

Beautiful gardens that definitely have had a lot of time and effort put into it over many years. Some plants you can tell have been there for many many years based on their shear size. I would like to go maybe more towards the end of July when the annual plants are more mature. One complaint I do have is that we cut other activities that day short to ensure we would make it in time to the last free tour of the day (3pm) when we arrive around 245 to check in they told us there was no tour guide for that tour so we would have to just do a self guided one with the map, which is fine but just not the same.

Very lovingly designed public garden. It is worth a visit to walk through this beautiful garden. Many flowers and also some ducks can be seen.

Very beautiful and serene garden. You are transported to the 1800s with is Victorian style gardens. You are welcomed with with a rich sweet aromas of flowers that pulls you further into the center to be surprised with a series of paths, fountains and beautifully manicured landscapes. The Dalia's garden was amazing and showcased the beauty of these beautiful flowers.

Beautiful gardens in the centre of town offering some peace and tranquility, on the map it doesn’t look very large but it’s a rather big garden with a fountain, pond and gazebo… it’s a wonderful place to be on a sunny afternoon escaping the hustle and bustle of town watching the bees pollinate the beautiful flowers and hearing the ducks quack as the swim paddle their way across the pond… very serene.

It is definitely the most beautiful garden in Hslifax, and probably one of the most beautiful in Canada. It is very popular with locals, is very well maintained, and there are posts with the names of flowers written, so you can actually learn about the flower you are seeing. The park was built in the second half of the nineteenth century and has been kept in the same Victorian style.

A beautiful garden. Could have stayed there for hours just looking at the gardens. The ducks are very friendly and decided they liked pecking g at my shoes. Do not feed them. Tours are available, but we decided to walk around ourselves. This a must-see garden if you visit Halifax.

Don't miss this public garden. It's amazing. Was one of the stops on our hop on hop off bus tour. Easy paths with beautiful plants and flowers. Restroom at front and seating throughout the garden. Also has a small Cafe.

Public Gardens has been a downtown staple for as long as I can remember. Truly beautiful, peaceful place to walk or lounge. I especially love the Dahlia displays every summer.

This is one of the best places in the city to go for formal pictures. Because it is so popular you may need to wait to get the shots you want. Also, trying to find nearby parking can be very frustrating. There is always something in bloom, a variety of backgrounds and well kept.
