Wonderful bookstore and cafe. Great selection of baked treats as well. This is also the only café in the city to my knowledge that allows people to smoke indoors, as its conducive to the aesthetic of the store. (if you ask the owner for permission first, he is a very kind man.) I come here every morning and smoke my pipe tobacco over a cup of joe and read.

Such a quaint little place. One of my favourites just to hide away from the world, the smooth jazz, low sound of conversations and coffee making just take white noise relaxation to a whole new level. I love this place so much. Great food, great prices, and more than anything, great staff!

Lovely store with a great atmosphere and even better coffee. It's really nice to see they've brought back indoor smoking (as it's clearly conducive to their aesthetic).

Nice little spot, books are in good condition, some have worn covers/spines, and around 3/4 of new price. Coffee is good and atmosphere is lovely. The owner isn't very chatty but is nice and cares about the place and the drinks. There is a 60min sitting down limit right now because of covid.

A supremely cozy spot to study or work. It's a quieter cafe for sure, with lots of books to read while you're there. Modest selection of drinks and baked goods but quite yummy. Trident's atmosphere is really what's 10/10, and worth making the trip for if you're not downtown. Also, god bless that they are open till 9pm, we desperately need some more night time coffee shops, and these hours are greatly appreciated!!

Amazing coffee...freshly baked cookies...books all around...you can't get more than this!!! The owner is also warm and courteous....He gave us a tour of their kitchen where they make their own coffee and bake their own goods...A must visit place for a book lover.

Excellent place! Was lucky enough to find this another pearl in Halifax. Somehow coffee culture here isn't so popular, thx this guys for guarding it! Didn't find latte art here, but milk texture and temperature was excellent!!! They roast beans on their own and they are delicious. Especially in comparison with other local "big" roasters...

My husband and I were there this week. It is a great spot. Coffee and iced tea and baked goods were great. Round that up with 3 books we purchased and you can’t ask for more. They require wearing a mask and I applaud them for that ( they have masks available at the door in case you don’t have one). I was here in 2019 when home visiting and now they we have retired back this will be one off my favourite places to go.

Absolutely fantastic - smallish bookstore with plenty of options, used books, and excellent coffee. This makes a great place to stop by anytime for gifts or for yourself. This is our shop around the corner like from you've got mail!

My new favourite place: coffee is great, atmosphere is amazing, and lots and lots of books of all kinds. I am in love with it💔

Cool, old school, library/Cafe. Atmosphere is top notch, books are available for perusing or purchasing, some baked goods are brought in for snacking purposes, and my Americano Misto was one of the best I've had in the city. Def worth a visit, and one of the quieter spots I've found to set up my laptop and just.......... Chill. (Best to go earlier in morning if you want a better selection of food. Once they sell out of what they brought in, that's all she wrote) #TopNotch

The gentleman with the beard and the small round glasses makes the best latte in town

Amazing cafe, a small place with a huge history, not far from the waterfront, or from the train station. I would drop by there every time I want a coffee and read a book, or just hang out with a friend.

📍Trident Booksellers & Cafe ⭐️9/10 Food we got: - latte - iced chai - hot chocolate This vibes if this bookstore/cafe caught our attention so we had to try it for ourselves! The cafe features a good selection of drinks that you can get hot or cold and some pastries. The bookstore has a wide variety of gently used books for incredible prices! This spot is perfect to enjoy a drink while indulging in new books or your favorite classics! **Follow @smfoodd on Instagram for more reviews and pictures!

Trident Cafe is a great spot to unwind with a good book. The cozy atmosphere, excellent book selection, vegan treats, and great coffee or tea make for a wonderful experience. The staff is friendly, and the morning sunlight streaming through the window adds to the magic. Highly recommended.

A gem of a spot. Excellent service. Great coffee/tea place with good variety of baked goods (gluten free options available). You can browse their book lined walls before grabbing a treat or sitting down at one of their cozy tables.

A good used bookstore with a wide variety of genres and nice cafe inside. Chill atmosphere, decent coffee, and pleasant staff. You’ll find some great surprises among the fiction and non-fiction titles. The poetry section is a bit lame, but what else is new.

This places makes a good real espresso, not to long. The lemon cookies are a must if your stopping in. The staff is great, and there is a good collection of books to choose from.

Great place, I was waiting for a coffee and just had to buy a book. Really nice coffee and friendly staff! I know, they're Canadian and are supposed to be friendly but this was the day after Hurricane Fiona and most people were a bit stressed.

Love this cafe! It is a hidden gem in the middle of downtown and has an almost European flair that I really enjoy. There is a big selection of tea and lots of books of all kinds to choose from. It’s also a great place to trade in books you no longer want, as they will buy books for cash if you have some nice ones to sell. I always enjoy popping in for a browse.
