Nice little beach if you can handle the walk. Laketown is a very small but pleasantly sandy beach. The trek from the parking lot is a bit arduous as many of the steps are completely covered with sand. You basically have to scale a small dune to get to the beach. There is private property flanking both sides of the beach, so there is very limited space.

Street side parking. Not a huge beach, but adequate for a nice diiiiip. Not a huge hike, but there is some elevation to cover to make it to the beach and bake. Approximately 250 stairs. No restrooms or changing areas, come prepared. Perhaps a fine hill to roll a watermelon.

The beach is close-by to parking- as far as the crow flies- which is unlike other small public beaches along west Michigan's Fresh Coast. The steep slopes of loose sand on the way down to the beach, and even more so for the climb back up to parking will create a challenge for anyone not exercising regularly. The climb back out after a long day of activity can also serve as a free health screening on par or better than your average age 40 procto exam... But it's worth the effort! And perhaps that's always been this dune climb's best roll; which has been to protect this small local gem from overcrowding.

Beautiful beach but a hike we weren’t ready for! The stairs to the top of the dune was covered with a ton of sand so it felt like you were climbing the dune itself. The beach itself was small and limited in space, but was well maintained; no rocks or logs. There was a staircase from the beach to the top of the dune which gives breathtaking views.

Nice little beach along Lake Michigan. Large sand dune climb to get there. The first part used to have steps but are almost completely covered. The set of steps going down to the lake are nice ... around 180 steps.

This beach is pretty much for people who are both ambitious and in pretty good physical condition. Gotta hike up the dune, then down to get to it. There are also stairs to get back up. They're exhausting too though! But it's a gorgeous beach and totally worth the work.

Amazing spot for a sunset! However, it's a bit of a trek to get to the top or down to the beach. You can walk the dune path or you can take the stairs but the stairs from the parking lot to the top are covered with sand so they're not always visible or easy to maneuver. Would not recommend this if you have a stroller or a wheelchair!

We visited this place during tulip time but still there was not even a single soul at sight. It was very peaceful and beautiful place to watch sunset(unfortunately it was cloudy when we visited). You need to do a small hike like half mile and it is little steep. Wear a good shoes as sand might get inside. There is just one restroom here and not sure how it was but looked little dirty from outside. There is entry ticket for this place. They do have parking space.

Hike to the beach is not for average people. There is a huge climb to reach the stairs or you can take the side path for a big drop to walk down to the beach. Half the family quit the climb. Water was not that clear or clean. Shallow water.

Lake Michigan is beautiful anywhere (including here)! The staircase has seen better days as the dunes continue to shift without regard to measly human creations. The remaining west side is leaning precariously and will likely be condemned soon. Enjoy it while you can 😀

Extremely hard climb to the beach. Do not recommend for small children, elderly, or anyone even remotely out of shape. No phone signal so if you were to get in trouble climbing the stairs or dune, there would be no help. Sadly, it is the most beautiful beach I've ever been to. Too bad it's not more accessible.

Nice little village of homes with mostly private property and members only signs everywhere. We stayed long enough to eat some pizza and capture a really bright sunset. Very tight spot. What you see is pretty much it for someone driving through.

My first visit to Lake Michigan and my first experience climbing a sand dune was a success! Such a beautiful location!

Sand was very hot. Gorgeous view from the top of the dune. Be prepared for a hike if you plan on going to the water.

Gorgeous beach with dunes.. A must visit place for watching a beautiful sunset... Easy to access from the parking area with some stairs and climbing down the dunes.. walking back to the parking lot is not harder with dunes.. parking is free.. They have separate stairs from the beach area to climb up and see the beach view and come back to the parking lot instead of dunes..

This area involves physical fitness 💪 I love climbing dunes. The shore is beautiful and not rocky. I will go back.

The view was terrific. It was a little cooler than I anticipated, but the sun made up for it. There is a sand dune conservation in place. They ask you to stay on beach trails.

Absolutely wonderful place to take your children and spouse to clear your mind. My children aging from 9 to 15 didn't even bring their phones out and had smiles on their faces the entire time. I highly recommend this place for you SOULS......

Beautiful area that requires a bit of a hike over the dune to see the beach. We were advised to hike down the trail on the right and climb the steps back up on the left.
