Ole Piper has been a neighborhood mainstay for a couple of generations. They did an internal redesign a few years ago that maintained it's hometown bar feel but brought it squarely into the 21st century. The dining room has a log cabin/sports bar vibe. The servers are all very friendly and helpful and establish a very family-friendly feel. It's a great place to take the family or meet up with friends. They can accommodate groups up to 10 with ease. Here's where the place really shines: The pizza is some of the best in the south metro area. They are generous with toppings (take a gander at the pictures) and the sauce is robust and flavorful. The deep-dish and the hand-tossed crusts are equally excellent. If you like an "everything on it" pie, check out the Piper Supreme -- it's something special that may compel overeating. We've loved every pizza we've tried, but the Piper's Porker and the BBQ Chicken are also standouts. The salads are plain but filling, and the appetizers we've tried are also satisfying. They provide a nice selection of beverages (both grown-up and kid friendly). Overall, it's one of our favorite pizza joints. Low-key, welcoming, and most of all, TASTY.

We've ordered from Ole Piper for years and normally their food is pretty good, especially the fried chicken dinner. Tonight we tried the chicken finger dinner and for $3 extra, ordered the jalapeno curds as a side. Wanted to try something new. Who ever ran the fryer on 12/18/23 should be put back to the dish tank. The chicken fingers and the curds were over cooked, fried really dark. The chicken itself wasn't too bad (although they forgot the buffalo sauce). But I wouldn't order the curds again if they paid me. Pretty much inedible, and if there was any jalapeno in the breading, whoever fried them cooked it right out. Pretty much what I got was burnt cheese curds. I threw them out. We've called because of issues with our orders before and they normally offer to send a replacement out. But I lost my appetite after a few burnt curds. I know most Minnesotans can't handle spicy, but there could have been some semblance of jalapeno in the jalapeno curds. Definitely not ordering them again.

Great food and friendly service. We just tried a couple items but they were so good we can't wait to come back and try some more! Edit: We came back for lunch and really enjoyed our food. My son did not like his turkey BLT hoagie, however. The server was very kind and got him a cheeseburger to go so he didn't starve. Very much enjoyed our experience and will return!

So how was it? It was delicious. The crust was well done. It was not off-putting. It tasted good and gave a little sturdiness to the super thin crust that was caving on 2" square pieces due to the amount of oil this pizza produced. I have to rate this to the same style (i.e. Red Savoy's and Carbone's 7.6/10). I think a 7.9/10is a fair rating. The greasiness of the pizza dipped the rating...but any pizza over a 7.0 I would order again. This is good bar pizza for certain....and better than bar pizza. Service btw, was also good. Very pleasant server and I will definitely come back again. I love the atmosphere of the bar.

OMGI have not been to this pizza place for 14 years I live about an hour and 10 minutes away. Yep I drove here just for the pizza I had seen it when scrolling through pizza places in Minneapolis the pizza was as good as it always has been. We got the deep dish we were tossed up between that and Chicago style next time it will be Chicago style this is a medium OMG my mouth watered I never ate so much pizza in my life recommend this place to everybody

Years ago I would frequent Ole Piper with my date every Tuesday. We’d go inside the restaurant and order a variety of food. When we stopped dating it became a reminder of things lost, so I didn’t go there anymore (around 2015). It was the same with Perkins and other restaurants. With the onset of the pandemic I tried the websites and would become frustrated with the selection. The menus were reduced and changes/substitutions weren’t possible. I don’t know why it never occurred to me to try Ole Piper, I live only a few blocks away. I don’t know this but I’m guessing their menu was pretty much what it is now. In the past couple of months I would drive down Cedar Ave and began noticing what looked like reserved parking for curbside pickup (it actually states carry-out 4-9pm) but never drove into the parking lot to check it out. I started to pull up their menu and started reminiscing the various foods, but became anxious when thinking about actually ordering. The website doesn’t really state the curbside policy or anything unless you “Start an Order.” One you do you’re asked to sign in and that’s where I became anxious and would “x-out.” Finally this week I got up the gumption to register an account and sign up for the loyalty program (which the website also says nothing about other than “join”). I logged in the next day and ordered. The food is as great as I remember! The portion sizes are big but not too much. I actually ordered more than I could eat in one sitting, taking about a day and a half. The curbside pickup is easier than you might think, though you have to call them to let them know you’re out there (as opposed to McDonald’s where it’s all electronic), but I did it and was satisfied. Today I ordered another item, this time only ordering one item. It was a bit of food, and was filling and great. I’ll continue to return. Making substitutions is easy and part of the process. Wish I hadn’t stopped going here. Of course curbside is a result of the pandemic, more places need to offer it.

I have been frequenting since 1993. The new management has added a real upscale feel to the decor. The prices are still very affordable for drinking. Kitchen was closed and there seemed to be a general grumbling about dismay with new management but no tangible reason why other than the owner we had all known for dozens of years wasn't there anymore. Ole Piper is still a staple of the community and holds a tradition of providing a one-of a kind dining experience to the neighborhood. I am glad they survived for so long but I am confused about their lack of events/activities like darts, top golf, big game hunter, arcade games, or karaoke that graced these halls in years past.

We went to this restaurant to have dinner with our mom. There is nothing special about this place. But i like their service. We had some fried chicken and pizza and every food portion here is huge to me😅.

First and last visit. Personal cheese pizza overcooked dry cheese..hard crust. If there was any sauce they put it on with a brush..the size of a small Mission tortilla. Actually that would have been better with some melted cheese. $10 for that..yuk. The $28 'special' Chicago style (had good sauce). Very little meat and the bottom crust wasn't done. I would NOT recommend the pizza here. Staff was nice.

We go here weekly and have for years. I've had just about everything on the menu and most many times. They currently have a 'Seasonal Special' -- Reuben, Cheeseburger and Philly Quesadillas. Tried the Reuben and had a loaded baked potato to go with it. Delicious! Looking forward to trying one of the others while they still offer them.

What AWESOME pizza!!! The best flavor and toppings of pizza within the Twin Cities and western Wisconsin. If you are in the Lakeville area, it is a MUST to stop in for a meal. Deep fried pickles...very good. Hoagies are delicious and mighty tasty. Staff are great and very attentive. Wish they could expand into a larger space to offer more experiences for more people. It is a little cramped for tables and booths. You will NOT be disappointed if you stop and eat or order for pickup. The best pizza place in the area.

Excellent pizza!! We love the Ole Piper Special deep dish. We get a large and eat leftovers heated in the air fryer. They have a good beer list too.

Best Chicago style pizza south of the river! So good at the restaurant but always hot and fresh when delivered. It’s hard to not order it or go there weekly! 😂

Great pizza and great service! I was there yesterday around 2 and was delighted with the service. Additionally, the pizza was perfect! (Pepperoni, sausage, well done, pie slices)

Haven't been there for over 7 years due to relocating out of state. We found the service to be fast and friendly. The food was well prepared and very good. The only thing that was missing was the free popcorn. Oh well. It's still a great place to eat and will go there when we visit again.

Ordered a large meat pizza, and received it pretty well done. Took it home and popped it in the oven for a couple min to warm it up from the drive home, and after eating approx one piece, found it to be just overflowing with sausage and basically too cooked to actually enjoy, so ended up throwing a large portion of it away. I've had good pizza here before, but this wasn't the time, not by a long shot.....

We’ve been coming here for years. Tonight we had the worst experience ever. I ordered the fried chicken meal, when it arrived the food looked mangled and there was literally a hole in the chicken breast which was the only reason I ordered it. Like half the breast was gone. When I questioned the breast, I was told that was just the shape but they could get me another one if I really needed one. After about 20 minutes the waitress asked if there was anything else she could get us…. We said just the chicken breast you had promised. It never came and I left hungry because I didn’t get to eat. Not coming back.

A great shout out THANK YOU to Ole Piper Inn! My husband called in a pizza order for pick up & I went to pick it up. Got there & no order for my name. They checked again & no order. Called the hubbie & it turned out he ordered at the Blaine location mistakenly. So, I ordered another pizza & asked if I could have a pop & wait there, (watched GB game). They checked on me to see if I needed anything else & when my pizza was ready I said I hadn't paid for my pop. They said you are good. They not only gave it to me free but they topped it off before I left. Thanks so much you guys, you rock! And as always the pizza is GREAT!

I recently visited and ordered the Marinara melt. The food was very good and it was a large amount, I left feeling very full. Service was quick and friendly and the place was very clean.

That was some good pizza! We love Ole Piper, especially the pizza!! I highly recommend the Chicago style deep dish, one of the few places in the Twin Cities that knows how to make it. Mozzarella sticks are awesome and you get a bunch.

Pizza is definitely their thing. I ordered fried chicken, and I have to admit it was dry and not seasoned adequately. My friend ordered a deep dish pizza, and my mouth was watering for his pizza and all the other pizzas I saw being delivered. TVs all over to watch the game.
