We really enjoyed our recent stay here. We had two nights in room 114. We had a small balcony which faced the sea and jetty. The hotel is iconic and many famous people have stayed here. The hotel food was great and the service was fantastic. The reception, bar and restaurant staff were really nice. The hotel and rooms were clean and nice and warm which is great after a walk on the front. We watched Poirot, the episode that featured the hotel whilst there. "Double Sin"

Apart from the fact that the food was amazing and the starter was to die for. The staff are the best part. And I don't know how but the customers were also very Good natured. Its just really good vibes. I will go there every month if I have the time. I'm told the view is amazing too but it was dark when we went there. I loved it and I would pay more to dine here. Its simply an amazing experience

Working with my team in Heysham, arrived at the Midland easy to find, plenty of parking. Large welcoming reception area that leads on to the bars and restaurant area. Check in was easy and quick, second floor room directly above reception, views Amazing and room clean and fresh! Large room, comfy bed, great shower and brilliant biscuits. Lovely location and nice walk out along the front, plenty of seating at the bar and great ploughman’s with a twist, burgers looked amazing but my body is a temple so maybe next time! 🤣

A beautiful sunny day overlooking the bay, blue sky, and great company. Lovely clean and inviting surroundings. Bar staff very polite, however they're not familiar with their own drinks menu or what is on offer as cake of the day. By speaking to the third staff member we managed a successful order. A bit of coaching wouldn't go a miss. After all great service is key and would up their game to match the image they're aiming to portray.

Nice sea view room, very expensive hence the 3 rate. Quirky toilet and bathroom set up where you can’t actually shut the door off from bedroom to en-suite. I wouldn’t stay again. Staff nice and helpful. £12 charge to stay overnight in car park, even though room was £260 … unnecessary liberty I feel.

Mixed feelings on this one as I desperately wanted to award it a higher rating. First, the good, even great points. It's an iconic "Art Deco" building inside and out and worth a visit just to see it and all the wonderful style, history, photos and drawings inside. All staff ere excellent. However, a classy hotel with no air-con, just a noisy free-standing fan instead? On a very hot night, we were forced to switch it off. On the front side, the hotel probably has a wonderful view of the Bay at sunset when the tide is in and the sun is visible. Neither happened on our one-night stay. Just bad luck, I guess. While the sea view can clearly be exceptional, the surrounding areas to back and sides are rather grim. Maybe things will improve on the outside when the 'Morecambe Eden Project' opens very close by. I sincerely hope so, and I wish them all the best for this exciting development.

Really enjoyed our little break here, comfortable, well equipped and clean rooms - paid extra for a sea view but felt it was worth it to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Breakfasts were excellent, plenty of choice and all well cooked, nicely presented and piping hot. Staff attentive and welcoming, nothing too much trouble. Toiletries smelled gorgeous and felt very luxurious and towels were huge and fluffy. Carparking available and hotel well situated. Thank you, we would like to stay again when next we are up here.

Beautiful location overlooking Morecambe and the Lakes Stunning Art Deco hotel. The food and service were both of a very high standard. The toilets at Rotunda bar were a little tired looking. The rooms were very impressive furnished/laid out in a mainly Art Deco design.

Lovely staff. Second visit and made to feel genuinely welcome. Ate dinner in restaurant and next night in the bar. Both lovely. Bar better value of course. Room spacious and spotless. Small point - they need a rack for your suitcase in room . Plenty of space but wardrobe and hanging space on the small side. Love it and will be back.

Only stopped for drinks whilst out walking with dogs. The staff were great, and the bar was very busy with other patrons with and without dogs. We sat in a booth and ordered a couple of well-earned drinks. The view from the bar looks out over the bay, beautiful! It had a great, friendly atmosphere, excellent location, and ample seating inside and out. We visited early November on a gloriously sunny sunday around lunchtime, and even though it was busy, there was still plenty of room for us. (Not the greatest photos, but it gives you an idea)

Beautiful hotel with well appointed rooms and facilities. Tastefully maintained but not overdone, well served restaurant but poor vegetarian choices, however, the bar meals have more vegetarian choices available. Great for dogs as easy access to numerous places for walks and toilets while staying. Pooches are allowed to eat with you which isn't always to be assumed, but a nice touch.

A fantastic Christmas party evening for our works do. The food was excellent, brilliant service, great entertainment. Good for vegetarians/vegans, when some of our party didn't like the original choice for vege they were offered an alternative when we called to request. Cannot fault the Christmas party experience, a great little surprise for the organiser too! Thank you to the Midland for a great night!

The room we had was brilliant, comfy and clean, it had a sea view and a balcony. We arrived around 2.30, we planned to have lunch at the Rotunda Bar, we were met with a slightly frosty greeting at Reception, advising us we couldn’t check in yet, this we were fully aware of, we wanted to actually ask a few questions about our stay however left it until later/didn’t ask at all. When we had our evening meal, the service wasn’t up to the standard we are used to on our previous visits, this is shame as it’s what The Midland is well known for. The staff just didn’t seem to want to be there, which when it was the ‘90th Birthday’, this was sad to see. I do hope our experience was a one off. It was sweet to see a bed and bowl had been provided for our little dog, even if the bed was 5X the size of her, she loved it regardless. These little touches are much appreciated.

Intended to buy two coffees but girl behind bar served man next to me then turned her back and walked off. We walked out in disgust. The bit of the interior we could see from the bar didn't inspire us either. We discovered by chance the Winter Gardens, went in for coffee and it is a fantastic historic place with very friendly and helpful volunteers. Go there, forget the Midland Hotel!

This hotel was built as part of the railway back in 1933, and from the outside, you can tell the building is of that age. It's lovely, though! Inside is modernised, comfortable, and has all the needs of a modern hotel. Dinner and breakfast were served at the table, and there was a good choice of both at a reasonable price. The staff are polite, well mannered, and helpful too. Our room was 201, so second-floor on the far right as you look at the front of the building. Excellent, comfortable, and well- appointed about sums this up. I'd recommend this as a place to stay for a night or two.

Positives- the room we stayed in was spotlessly clean, large, and had a fantastic sea view- we were lucky with a warm fine evening and could see right over to the Lake District, and the balcony was a real treat. The cupboards were genius, and the art deco staircase amazing. The pianist was also nice touch in the hotel lounge area. The food was first class and served promptly. The breakfast was lovely, although not quite what we had asked for it wasn't an issue. Negatives- For the price tag I would have expected a higher quality 'experience' in true keeping with the period it is styled in. Maybe my expectations were too high, but the younger staff, although very friendly, eager and polite definitely needed more training in order to deliver the experience the price tag deserved. A lot of the tables outside in the evening were left full of dirty pots so we had nowhere to rest our drinks, and on returning 2 hours later they were still there, and it wasn't particularly busy. The self service part of the breakfast had run out of a couple of things such as orange juice, and we had to ask for toast as it was missed from the breakfast. I am perhaps being picky and at somewhere less expensive would not be at all bothered. The young, and probably more economical, staff just need more training and more supervision.

6 of us celebrated a birthday with afternoon tea. Nice location overlooking the bay. Reasonable prices for the small sandwiches and cakes, maybe paying for the view

A lovely place in a town I have often ignored thinking it was to jaded. The Midland is a diamond of Art Deco elegance and style, but the one thing that stood out as 100% brilliant was the staff. Young and dare I say gorgeous 😍, made us feel old lol. Welcoming and well trained to make our group (2 couples and 3 dogs), feel welcome. Yes DOG FRIENDLY ! Despite some odd looks from other residents, the restaurant has a small area to dine with your pubs. Bedroom had bowls and even dog beds. Decor 10/10 . Patio drinks and food area great and busy. 10/10 Food and drink 10/10 One thing we didn't know was the NO DOGS allowed on the beach in Spring to Autumn. Morecambe council missing out on even more visitors which is a 🫠 shame. To end.... not cheap, but worth it.

Lovely little ch on the Rotunda at the Midland. The young staff are on it despite it being busy inside and out. Fish Butty enjoyed by me and my elderly dog Rufus. Clean fresh water for him too! Well done guys we will be back.

A group of us had afternoon tea here. A beautiful place looking over Morecambe bay. The staff were attentive and friendly. The afternoon tea was delicious and not too expensive either, definitely worth a visit

My husband and I came for a meal at the Midland to celebrate his birthday. The food, as usual, was second to none. As huge fans and big users of this hotel, including our wedding in 2021, we have noticed a decline in the standard of service. The staff are pleasant and willing but not slick, almost tentative in their approach. They have to be reminded of things rather than being proactive. Maybe this is just a matter of staff training, and lack of supervision. It feels like a deficit at the supervisor level rather than with the enthusiastic, intelligent youngsters. If so, that would be a false economy. I am always willing to give the benefit of the doubt. Come on Midland, you have a reputation to live up to! That is: being preeminently one of the best places to stay and eat in the area. Memo to Management: don't let standards slip!

Super lovely. A gem of the town. Lovely atmosphere with views to die for. And then the service was great, relaxed friendly and jus made to feel at ease, nothing was too much trouble. Please keep it that way! Oh, food was fresh and delicious too.

Fantastic building with wonderful art deco pedigree with surviving art work on the walls and ceiling together with real railway history. View from the room with balcony was amazing, as the light and weather constantly changing made it unmissable as long as it was daylight. Small touches such as fresh milk in the fridge and the quirky design and furnishings made it special. The bathroom was on the small side with no shelving for your kit, but just look out the window to see the Lake District fade in and out of sight and who cares.

Truly outstanding. Stayed here for a special anniversary with my partner. We travelled up from south London specifically to stay here having stopped for tea on the way through many years ago and always wanted to come back for a proper visit. The hotel itself is a stunning Art Deco masterpiece which has been beautifully restored but with added contemporary features. We treated ourselves to one of the larger rooms on the top floor with an amazing view of the jetty and out to sea. Definitely worth paying a premium for. All of the team members we came across were very friendly and went out of their way to be of help at check in, at the Rotunda bar, at breakfast and at check out. The cocktails in the Rotunda are excellent and some are available at 4 for £20, all the time. What a bargain! Breakfast was also very good. Plenty of choice and made with good quality ingredients with a gorgeous view out to sea. Morecambe seafront was really nice. We also had a nice walk along the coast to Heysham. The remains of St Patrick’s Chapel are worth a visit and The Royal pub is very nice. Nothing to fault at all. Can’t wait to return.

Spent a couple of nights with our little dog. Staff could not have been more attentive. Beautiful sea view from our well designed room and breakfasting at the edge of the restaurant. Generous portions of delicious food at breakfast and in Rotunda Bar. Really a lovely treat!

Lovely 2 night stay in this iconic building. Our meal in the restaurant was delicious. Breakfasts were good and the staff were helpful and very welcoming. Room was well presented and clean but perhaps in need of some updating.

What a fantastic New Year break?! We have been going on breaks since 2001 and this is one of the best. The hotel looks fabulous, the food and drink was excellent and the best thing of all was the amazing staff! From the management down to the maid service they were fabulous. Highly recommend this hotel and in particular the New year break !!! 10 out of 10

Went for a birthday afternoon tea for my elderly mum. Lovely bites, plenty of choice and very tasty. One was dairy free and excellent. Such a rarity to have one especially done for me, which I really appreciated. Only thing stopping me giving 5 stars is the staff weren't as attentive as I'd have liked. We were there for a birthday treat and after our tea and glass of prosecco, we fancied a spritzer too but there was no sign of anyone so I'm afraid they missed out on an additional purchase! Otherwise, it was lovely. Tables are time-limited but we had ample time to eat and relax.

Stopped off here for a tea and coffee the other day. I had a Latte and it was very good. Prices seem to be on the high side, but you do get a packet of very nice biscuits with your drink. They were busy and the service was ever so slightly on the slow side, but overall very good

Staff were amazing and super helpful. Breakfast was amazing - delicious, good service, friendly staff. The building itself was great. The location was good - near to the pier and the beach, as well as most restaurants. Views are great and Rotunda bar is nice if you can get a seat. The room (Standard Double) was a bit tight, and in unprecedented heat (29c during the day and 22/23c at night), it was really hot and uncomfortable, even with the fan which was kindly provided. The room was really stuffy and muggy and measured 31c at around 11pm with no ventilation or way of cooling it. The windows only opened slightly (for safety - totally understandable). The fan helped, but we did not sleep well at all because of this. I probably wouldn't book this type of room again, especially at the price - I think it is not very good value for money considering it would be quite warm even in average Morecambe summer temps due to the lack on ventilation or AC.

Beautifully renovated Art Deco hotel. The building is pretty and comfortable, with big rooms, and a curious round bar that looks like an old US dinner. It is nicely located by the sea and next to the Pier. Food is nice and abundant, and staff is very helpful. The room I stayed in didn't have air conditioning, which is great for the environment but tricky on a hot day. Watch out for the tide when walking on the beach.

Brilliant interior decor, the wooden units in the bedroom were an inspiration. I know they have been refurbished but they instantly evoke William Morris woodwork! The external decor is maybe looking a bit tired but OMG its the real Art Deco experience. Service and breakfast were first class. Thank you so much for a perfect overnight stay.

My family and I are local to the hotel but very often eat in the Rotunda bar!! We have always enjoyed the food and booked to attend with our two daughters yesterday 27th Aug 22. However, the area and promenade was packed with visitors which was fantastic to see and the hotel had been so busy our table had not been reserved. A smart chap in a checked suit attended to us and made us feel very welcome at a nearby table while we waited for our table to come free! I guess his job was managerial or front of house. He circulated amongst guests and really looked after us during our visit! Massive thank you for the warm welcome and service you provided.

Only had a coffee while exploring the area as my partner is a big fan of art deco buildings. Service good, although table wasn't clean when we sat down. Toilets clean and modern. Would visit again. Excellent location on Morecambe seafront

First time we've stayed here. Staff were excellent, very helpful & friendly. Afternoon tea was wonderful, great views over the Bay from the sun terrace dining room. Loved the Art Deco styling & the quirkiness of the bedroom. Excellent definitely 5 star, would stay again.

Met up with family today for Golden Wedding Anniversary celebration Afternoon tea. Fantastic setting and attentive but discreet staff. Delicious food, and boxes provided for leftovers! Highly recommended.

Hotel is good with a reasonable choice of food/drinks. Room's are comfortable but in need of a refurbishment, carpets and chair's we're very worn. There's not much to do in Morecambe, and it's very run down in places.

  • 5/5 Ma90 1 year ago on Google
We had a great Christmas party here, the food was really nice, the staff were very helpful and the service was fast! Cons - The window didn't close properly in our room, so there was a bit of a draft. The bathroom had a poor finish, loose towel rail, wonky taps, and poorly fitted tiles. Most people wouldn't notice or even care but it's the first thing I look for in a hotel room.

Our stay for the weekend at The Midland Hotel was superb. It was my son's birthday. We had a large comfortable 1st floor room accommodating Poppy (the dog). Dog bowls were provided also. The fridge had bottled chilled water and fresh milk. There was plenty of tea, coffee, biscuits and hot chocolate provided. The bathroom was amazing. We had a little issue with the hot water but the staff quickly delt with the problem. We had an evening meal on the Saturday evening and it was absolutely delicious. The staff decorated the table with little Happy Birthday stickers and presented a slice of cake with a candle. How lovely. On the Sunday we had afternoon tea. At first the staff said it was full but they managed to squeeze us in and were very helpful. The two breakfasts we had were excellent. Overall the two days we stayed at The Midland Hotel were fantastic. We will be back.

The cafe at the Midland is great. There are huge windows with views of the sea, really nice food and are happy to accommodate dietary requirements. It's dog friendly. The staff are usually lovely and friendly, sometimes a little grumpy.
