Booked a meal for 18, indicating in the initial booking that we would all be having the carvery. When we arrived, we were given two menus between the 18 of us, and they told us they had “expected” some of us to be eating from the rest of the menu. The drinks arrived over the course of 15 minutes after ordering. There was not enough food for all of us, which begs the question, why take bookings for such a large party if you can’t provide for them? All the staff were blaming each other, and the manager could not take an ounce of responsibility.

On arrival we had our order taken by Tina who took our food order and said she would return to take our drink order. We sat and waited for 20 min and then went to the bar ourselves. Food arrived after 1hr+ and there was 9 of us eating. When the food eventually arrived my nephew had a long dark hair in his steak. My daughters sausage was burnt. My steak which I asked for medium rare was well done/ burnt my chips were over cooked to an inch of their life. My dad’s onion rings were burnt, overall absolutely disgusting food and the waitress Tina was rude and unhelpful. I got offered 10% off my meal which I refused. They eventually agreed to take off my daughters burnt meal which she didn’t touch. I would have refused to pay anything but didn’t want to make a scene and Tina was extremely argumentative. Her customer service is shocking and staff training is highly recommended.

I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone. The food is really quality, fresh and delicious! I had the roasted pepper and tomato soup, with a bacon & chicken panini, skin on fries, salad and coleslaw. My partner enjoyed the county burger which he said that the beef was really nice quality and tasty. The staff are lovely and very welcoming. It's a little gem in carnforth town! We will be back for sure the next time we visit 🙂 Thank you!

It's adequate for a night or two as a local stop over. With some minimal investment in decor, carpets, bathrooms and decent mattresses, this could easily be an 8 or 9/10 but after this weekends stay I'd give it 6/10. We ate at the Royal Station down the road and it was fantastic. Note, B&B means your bed (not a great mattress) and cereal, pastries, toast and drinks in the morning, it's not a cooked breakfast as it would appear before you press the 'book' button (they advise you after booking is confirmed which I think is a swizz) .

Wonderful! We had our Christmas Eve meal here this evening. The staff were friendly and accommodating and the atmosphere was clean, pleasant and peaceful. The food was delicious and nicely presented, I think the Coke I had here was the nicest I've had! Very reasonable pricing in comparison to other local options. I Highly recommend coming here for a nice meal out!

We just spent a night in this lovely B&B while dropping our son to Uni. Everything was good with few exceptions, and not necessarily due to their fault. Lets start. Check-in is straightforward. You get your keys and off you go. Rooms are located in separate building at the back of the car park. If you have luggage, leave it in your car for check-in to save yourself dragging it twice. We had rooms 10 & 11. Very nice and spacious rooms. You get a kettle and decent amount of coffee, tea and sugar. TV is rather small and hard to see from bed and remote control seemed to have only half of buttons working. Bathroom was OK, although there was no gel/shampoo in dispenser and as we stayed for one nigh only we didn't bother to ask. Big issue was that doors to room 10 don't shut properly and you have to give a strong pull/push making very loud bang. Another annoyances (but not to their fault) there's roadworks in progress and temporary traffic lights are exactly outside the window. Not a problem most of the time until someone stops there at 1am with loud music playing. Food! Dinner was delicious. We all went for pate starter and liked it a lot. Wife had fish and chips, son enjoyed his beef burger and I loved my steak with tasty sauce. Breakfast. We knew in advance thanks to other reviews that it's only continental. You are made aware of this only after you complete booking. Not exactly fair game. Overall. Food was great. Night was just OK. Good place for stop over if you are traveling far.

I have left a one star review as I am unable to leave no stars. What a disappointing experience. Over cooked food. Hair in the food. Staff with zero customer experience skills. I would neither go back or recommend. If you are unfortunate enough to be served by "Tina" be prepared for rolling eyes and a bad attitude. In response to your reply - I have not mentioned the wait for food, as we WERE advised that there would be a wait. However, when ordering the food we asked to place the drinks order and Tina said that she would put the food order in first "so we can get that started" and come back and take the drinks order. We waited 20 minutes and then decided (rather than cause a fuss) to go to the bar and order the drinks there. The steak that we had asked for medium rare was overcooked, but we had waited over an hour at this point so my daughter decided to accept it rather than send it back and wait even longer. The hair that my grandson found on his steak he pulled out of his mouth and it wasn't until the end of the meal that he made us aware of this. The sauce that my grandson was given for his burger he was told was BBQ. It was only after he put it on that he realised that it wasn't the BBQ sauce he was expecting. My daughter tasted the sauce and spoke to Tina to ask what sauce it was as it didn't taste like BBQ sauce. Tina explained that it was a "hickory sauce" Our food was brought by a young male And Tina, so I am unsure who is giving you the incorrect information. My daughter advised on receiving the bill that she would not be paying for the childs sausage meal as the sausages were burnt black and therefore unsuitable to eat and as a consequence my granddaughter had gone without a meal. As for the table being a mess, there was some sauce that was on the table and my daughter used a napkin to clear it before we left. There was no sugar spillage at that time, so I am unsure what you are referring to? Tina has no customer service skills, when we asked for the bills to be separate she looked at us as though this was an inconvenience. If any one of the incidents had been isolated, we would not have an issue. But it was not a good experience from the beginning and then the way that our feedback was handled just made the situation worse. This was the reason that we then decided that it was unacceptable. If you would like to discuss this face to face I am more than happy to call in as we are local. I only usual leave positive feedback so I have not left this feedback without thinking that it was absolute necessary.

Visited yesterday for the Sunday roast and were made to feel so welcome from the start. The staff were all so friendly and very engaging. The roast itself was absolutely delicious. The beef so tender. Definitely will revisit again when I am next up in Morecambe.

We had a late lunch here Service was excellent very welcoming to us and our dogs! We all had the homemade soup which was delicious and we all thoroughly enjoyed it. So much so we took takeaway portions home to have at home the next day 100% recommend this place.

I come here every now and then to the restaurant or coffee lounge. Its pretty good for the most part but in my most recent visit with my mum we ordered coffee and my Americano was a bit too strong and my mums latte was too weak, and the staff member who brought the coffees forgot to bring spoons at first. Also in past visits, there have been other customers with noisy dogs, which I find can really spoil the peace and atmosphere. Though that's just cause I'm not really a dog person.

Not a bad little spot to go and have a quite drink. The chef was accommodating for an awkward vegetarian like myself (thus the extra star). We both strongly agreed the drinks were over priced as they did not serve doubles. It cost us £19.70 for two single rums, two single JD's and two cokes. Would we go again? The answer has to be a resounding yes because it was a very hassle free night. If you want a quite night out in a cosy warm public house pay this one a visit!

Booked a table for 7pm on Friday for 4 of us arrived at 6.45 thought we would have a drink in the bar first. It was as though we had arrived on the Mari Celest! No staff rang the bell in the bar no one arrived. Went into the restaurant No one arrived walked down the corridor towards the rooms No one anywhere to be found. We left clearly did not need our business but would highly recommend Trungs the Chinese 5 mins down the road great service lovely meal.

Food was ok, the menu was mostly "sold out" and as we were the first 2 in the dining room, it made me question how fresh the food really was. The lady who served us should have been better informed about food that was not available as another couple ordered meals which had to be changed twice due to availability. (Not at all the server's fault). Thank you, however, to the lady who followed us out to hand me my car keys, which had been left when paying. Overall not the best we've been to, but far from being the worst.

We booked a table on Bank Holiday Monday with our 9 month old son. We arrived 5 mins before the table time to see that it was closed and a board saying closed due to staff sickness. A courtesy call to inform us of this with having a booking would have been nice as we had a hungry baby and then had to find somewhere else at short notice.

We were given the choice to eat in the coffee shop area or the restaurant and chose the latter. It was lovely! Very peaceful, lovely decor and quite spacious. The food and service were both excellent. Will definitely visit again when we are in Carnforth.

Stayed for just over a week. Very tired rooms, carpet needs cleaning. Had a hard time with the TV aerial not working properly, plus having a very small TV to watch and the remote didn't work. Had a really hard time unlocking the door every day. (I did complain to the cleaner who said she had made comments to the owner already and they had done nothing). We had dinner in the restaurant the first night which took time as apparently they only had a chef who was new! The chairs in the restaurant need to be changed as they all had some sort of stain on them!

The rooms aren't even in the main building pictured, there were boarded up windows, we collected our key under the building in an unlit dirty area, and inside our room the bathroom door had a hole punched through it. The bed was rock solid, I've never hurt myself getting into bed until staying here. It just needs a refurb. I got swayed as it was near the motorway as a stopover for a long drive but I barely slept. In the morning we had the worst breakfast I've ever seen, a few stale slices of the end of a loaf of basic bread with limited toppings....I actually don't want to go on, but the whole experience was quite horrible, they need to do this place up....oh and it's also near a pub so loud shouting in the street until late.

Recently stayed here with a large group. Highly recommend. The staff were friendly, accommodating and could not do enough to ensure our stay was pleasant. Food in the restaurant was delicious, rooms were comfortable, clean and spacious. Plenty of parking. Prices are extremely reasonable. Would stay again.

Booked a table for 6pm and arrived on time. At 5 past 7 no meal had arrived. We have eaten here before 3years ogo when on holiday. I let waitress know we were not best pleased she said the delay was due to chef preparing starters for other customers. This was day one of our holiday. The meal when it arrived was good.We live 150 miles away and booked from home as our previous visit had been a good one. We wont be returning.

We've just had a late Sunday Lunch, the carvery had been cleared away due to how late we were eating but we were told that the carvery option was still available. We were looked after by two lovely ladies and given a choice of meats for our carvery. The meal was beautifully presented, generous portion and very tasty. We will be back with our two children.

I stayed overnight with a friend during a biking trip. Accommodation is across the car park from the main building and up some stairs, which is a bit of a faff but not the end of the world. Rooms are adequate and clean with expected facilities. Bathroom straightforward, good shower pressure and no issues with temperature etc. Beds were very soft and not very comfortable. However the big disappointment was dinner. Unfortunately the bar was short-staffed and the member of staff waiting and serving was doing her best but we waited over 1.5 hrs for our mains. Two couples were in the bar with us. After enquiring about a discount for the wait, we were told there would be none as there was nothing wrong with the food. Again, this is no reflection on the staff that were present who were kind, diligent and hardworking. However management need to ensure better support for workers.

The lodge and brasserie are separate buildings managed from the brasserie building. There never seems to be many staff on duty which affects service. The room was clean and basic, good for someone on business or passing through. The young lad on the bar told us a little about the local area and we visited Warton Crag as a result which was very enjoyable so thank you. We didn't eat at the brasserie so can't comment.

Stayed at the lodge for one night. The lodge is in a separate building by the car park at the back of the restaurant. The room was so spacious, clean, and tidy. So was the bathroom. Had breakfast at their restaurant as we booked for B&B. Breakfast was a continental breakfast, was not much of a variety, but it was good. Service was good, staff were friendly, kind, and helpful. Overall, ok.

Just had a lovely meal with a friend (16/02/22). Really like the new menu and the food was excellent. Well done to the Chef and team. First class and friendly service from Kate and Aaron too! Highly recommend for a pleasant evening. Thanks everyone!

Lovely hotel in the centre of Carnforth. Very close to a main road, but the hotel is very clean and the rooms are lovely. The bathroom has a bath as well as a shower, so that’s a bonus. Nice comfy chair in the room so you can have a nice little relax if you want to.

Food was very average I had cottage pie and baby veg , no gravy and terrible pre packed veg cooked in a microwave. Husband had Fish and chips once again average . My husband wanted to enquire about a package break for a golf weekend for quite a few men , manager couldn't be bothered to even talk to him . Restaurant seemed to be run by a lovely young man who was really good . Won't return

What a sorry place.... rooms and enquire are tired. Worst bed and pillows I think I have ever experienced. Lovely bar but chef sick. Allowed us to eat a takeaway. Told chef in for 9 but in morning no chef til 10. Charging £9 for a poor continental.

Initially, getting someone to call me back was a bit of a nightmare, but once they did, the service was great, I changed the number of people attending a few times, which wasn't too much trouble for them. On the day, the room was nice and cosy, all set up and ready when we all arrived, they waited to bring out the hot food until we were all settled. No one hovered, and the staff left us, but they were never too far away if we needed anything and then as we all began to leave they brought tin foil and paper bags to take the food away. I then said to the lady (sorry, I forget her name) that any leftover food could be taken into the bar for people to have a nibble. It was exactly what my Dad would have wanted. Thank you to all the staff and The County Hotel, Carnforth.

Awful evening here only ever saw one member of staff who wasn't too welcoming (but not going to blame them for this poor review) waited 20 mins for a menu then 20 mins for drinks then an hour for food, which believing that it was all home made thought fair enough. But when the food came, none of which was stated as on the menu. It was dreadful, the county burger (£13.95)(2x 4oz burgers, Monterey jack cheese, streaky bacon, relish and fries) came as a single burger with a slice of cheese and some lettuce, with a portion of oven chips. The beer battered fish with twice fried chips, mushy peas and hollandaise sauce.(£14.50) came as a rock hard brown batter with dry fish somewhere inside, with again oven chips. So after the long wait and the poor quality food we paid up and left. I'm not one for making a scene but won't be recommending this place to anyone in the future.

We visited The County Lodge & Brasserie on Sat 15th October, the bar staff/waitresses were both fantastic and made us feel very welcome. However, that's where the good time's ended. We ordered 6 x starters and 8 x main meals, the main meals came out before our starters and quickly got set back to the kitchen, I requested that the meals be discarded and fresh meals be prepared. Five minutes later our starters arrived, nice and fresh from the kitchen. Twenty minutes later our main meals arrived, overcooked, dry and tough. Two of the mains were chicken kiev, the chicken was so dry that my guest's had to request steak knives to get through the meat, all the juices had been dried out and was none existant. Sadly, my party all said "never again". We complained about the food, no alternative was offered nor any kind of refund for the dreadful food.

Chose this place based on decent google rating. Arrived to an empty restaurant on a Saturday night which in hindsight was the first red flag. Service was pleasant though awkward and compounded by a total lack of atmosphere. Staff member didn’t know what beers or gins were available to order (these are not listed on the menu). Drinks were slow to be served despite being one of two tables at this point - they actually had their wine served before us despite having their order taken after. Food was depressing - halloumi fries were borderline burnt, battered fish was greasy and strange texture, beef burger dry, chicken tikka masala was watery, inedible and served with what looked like boil in the bag rice. Highlight was the goats cheese crumpet and broccoli soup which was well enjoyed. We paid the bill and left promptly as we had a taxi booked. Still left a tip as our server was helpful and issues mainly beyond her control i.e. the kitchen.

Got there at 7:55 pm only to be told that it had stopped serving food, so that was a real disappointment. Had breakfast the next morning and as continental options go it wasn't bad. Would have liked a hot food option. The rooms are about 200 yards away from reception, in a separate building, and as the rain was torrential I got pretty wet. Rooms were basic, but useable. TV was tiny and remote didn't work well, as the battery cover was missing causing the batteries to keep slipping out. Overall a poor experience and not one I will repeat.

Very nice surroundings in the Brasserie, however, it was spoiled having a long wait about 20/25 minutes to wait for a member of staff who was on his own in the bar area to give us a menu and that was after we asked for one, and at that time we were the only couple in that area waiting to order a meal. He was clearly serving drinks in the bar area which seemed to be his priority before he made an attempt to get our food order. Maybe it wasn't the young man's fault as appropriate training may not have been given but it didnt help us in getting our food ordered quickly. We were just sat around wondering when someone would come and take our food order. Not good when time is not on your side. Residents Rooms are NOT adjacent to the Brasserie they are in a separate building just across the way which means if its raining and you want lunch or an evening meal or breakfast you may get wet so bring a brolly. The hotel did have a hairdryer in the room we were in even though I didn't see it on their website... I could have overlooked it.?? Very conveniently located to shops such as Tesco's, Aldi, and Booths. and a Fish and Chippy very close by. Good location for trips to the Lake District and Gretna Green.

Went for a meal with friends, absolutely disgusting, frozen food warmed up,we complained and the reaction was ,tough the chef said it was okay ,suggest the chef starts using freash ingredients instead of using frozen food .perhaps they should go back to catering school. Wont ever go there again.
