One of the finest, beautiful and huge cemetery I've seen / been to. Beautiful landscape, well organized graves with proper walking path. There are 12 chapels and 3 museum within the proximity, huge almost 400 hectares!

Ohlsdorf Cemetery in Hamburg is the biggest rural cemetery in the world! Most people might not be keen on the idea of randomly going for a walk through the graves. But Ohlsdorf looks nothing like a regular, classic cemetery! There is nothing depressing or creepy about it. It’s just a beautiful, regular park where you can admire bright colored flowers, listen to chirpy birds and yes, pass by mausoleums, gorgeously sculpted statues and even visit a funeral museum. It’s one of the largest cemeteries in Europe, and is beautiful to wander around, if you have the stamina that is! It’s so large that there are multiple roads and access ways for you to drive through, plus there are two bus lines that circle the cemetery.

Huge site. Very well kept. Can get lost very easily in here but the scenery is unmatched. I would suggest exploring it by bike. Have fun but keep in mind it's a cemetery so be respectful when passing through newer sections.

It's simply the largest and prettiest cemetery I've ever seen. There are walkways and hidden paths around rivers and family plots behind trees, statues of angels and who-knows-what everywhere. The crematorium looks imposing and the museum beautiful. If you like cemeteries this is the creme-de-la-creme. The groundskeepers have their hands full with all the plants and trees and leaves for sure. Keep in mind it closes at 4 and the museum is only open 3 days a week if you care to see that too. The signs are all German too

Really nice place to take a walk or cycling. It is the largest garden cemetry of the world. There are busses running inside the cemetry to take you from one chapel to another. It is very beautiful in spring and autumn with all the beautiful colours. You can find beautiful birds and animals like squirrels and rabbits in there. If you are not in favour of cemetry, don't worry. You can always stay on the main roads where it seems like a park, and you won't feel like you are in a cemetery.

Well maintained, beautiful and peaceful place to visit and give respect to the ones who are not here anymore. The cemetery park is very good for jogging and taking a stroll. Becareful if you are visiting for the first time and without your phone during closing time , you might find it difficult to find your way out. It happened to me 😁

Our son took us there when visiting Hamburg. The calmness, beauty and dedication by the staff and city to maintain this historical cemetery is very rare in today's world.

Huge, beautiful rural cemetery, wheelchair accessible, seating available I cannot say "I've seen it all" but I tried. On foot, by bike and by bus. This rural cemetery rather seems a park - and that was intentionally done so. It's too large to see it all but with its distinct parts, the old Corde's and the 'new' Linne's one, Ohlsdorf cemetery is definitely worth several visits. Important people of and for Hamburg are buried here, the different tombstones and mausoleums are impressive. A mass grave for the bombing victims of Operation Gomorrha, British Commonwealth War Graves, Resistance fighters, the rose garden, the women's garden, it's so much to tell. You need to explore it on your own!

Absolutely beautiful place to go strolling or for a bike ride. Is very large and slightly easy to get lost in but that can be all apart of the fun of it.

Cemetery and park - two in one, huge territory, so my recommendation is to explore it by bicycle. You can find bike rental places around. If you want to have some peaceful time and to run away from the city - it is a perfect place.
