A popular gem on the island of Oahu. It's a bird sanctuary so you cam only explore the island on the fringes. There is a beach you can navigate to where you can leave your watercraft at. Sometimes there are hawaiian monk seals sun bathing. If there are keep a safe distance. During bird mating season be very careful if the eggs near the paths. On the backside you can jump into the water but be careful of the tide... speaking of being careful. When you paddle out watch for the sections where it is really shallow. If you go through it theres a good chance you'll harm the reef by dragging over it. Dont follow the people in the yellow kayaks. Look for someone who is supping or more local as they know how to get out there without harming the reef.

This is our home! Kayak here on a sunny day, go for a snorkel and pack a lunch. We rent kayaks within walking distance of the launch area. Permits are required by the state and available at our shop. This is a wildlife sanctuary so be respectful, travel in small groups, pack your trash and keep distance from marine mammals.

One of the two islands you can land on, this island is a bird sanctuary...so part of it is accessible. You can kayak out from the beach, spend some time on this island, and then head back...a good 5-6 hour adventure. It's an awesome spot to recharge and take is the ocean, wildlife, and surrounding views.

A W E S O M E. Bring some boards out and get ready to mellow out on these little pieces of paradise. There's a little underwater cave with a beach inside that is totally worth getting into!! Looks scarier than it actually is, just keep your hands up and watch your head. Make sure to leave it cleaner than when you first got there!

You need to get kayak and permit to bird island. Itโ€™s very nice place with strong waves for surfing. You can easily spot some monk seal laying around at the little beach area, just donโ€™t get too close to them because they hate being bothered

An awesome adventure going to the other island from oahu. Kayaking and having that whole experience? Depending on weither. which was moderately fair took us 1 hour or so to get there and 32 minutes to get back.

Coming here was my first kayaking experience and it was great. The length of the trip over was a bit daunting at first but very manageable in the end. The islet itself is very nice although it tends to get crowded at lunchtime since it seems like everyone has the same idea about picnicking. Donโ€™t go past the seabird sanctuary boundaries.

Lovely little retreat. You only have a small beach to work with. The area for the birds nesting is demarcated with rope. There is a hiking trail which I could not complete due to insufficient shoes. The trail is Ricky with sharp rocks. Saw an Hawaiian Monk Seal taking a break on the island while we're there.
