This family-owned cottage saved our trip! Our previous booking got canceled due to a flood, and these wonderful people accommodated us at the last minute, just an hour before we arrived. A true lifesaver in a beautiful location. The food and service were excellent, and the prices were very reasonable, offering great value for money. Highly recommended.

Amazing family run place. I arrived very late (00:00) and they even prepared dinner for my arrival and waited for my at night. Felt very welcomed and had 2 amazing tours in the forest. Got enormous amount of food every time. Very nice people and very nice facilities here. Guide was very good at spotting and took his time to find the animals, finding them in the end! Good spotter is very important to have at this forest, since its very hard to find animals by yourself.

I really cannot express how beautiful this experience was. The host were simply amazing and the most friendly, hospitable people. I stayed 6 nights as a beautiful escape from the world and to visit Sinharaja World Heritage Area and go bird watching. The stand alone bungalow like rooms were perfect- a large deck to sit and watch the sunset, neat, tidy comfortable beds, hot water showers that were modern and very very clean and well constructed. There are only two bungalows on site currently so it’s a perfect small intimate experience. However the hosts were never intrusive, and used a doorbell near the bungalow if they ever needed anything- which was really only ever to drop off a coconut or offer coffee in the middle of the day 🥰 There are plans for a family room to be built soon. The gardens are beautiful around the bungalows and they over look the stunning family rice fields and us surrounded by the boarder of the national parks hills. The food was amazing. The included breakfast was different each day with fruit juice, coffee or tea and bananas, and dinner was a different range of 4-5 Sri Lankan curries with rice each evening for $3 with fruit as a desert. So much was provided I couldn’t finish! Catered perfectly for vegetarians. As a bird watcher myself, the location was perfect. Just 800m walk to the entry of the park. Saman really knows his birds and all wildlife, and is really enthusiastic to show people the beautiful nature inside and outside the park. We even did a night walk around the village looking for nocturnal animals. There is so much nature around - I did walks each morning and afternoon alone through the village and everyone was so friendly and many people even stopping to talk about birds and point out what they see. I saw over 60 bird species inside and outside the park, as well as a dozen species of reptiles and the endemic beautiful purple faced langur multiple times inside and outside the park. Saman is also an officially registered and trained park guide so can arrange and take you on tours for a great price. And he really knows and cares about the forest and environment. Tuk tuk pick up from Deniyaya was easily arranged with Saman himself picking me up and dropping me for 2000LKR, which I think is a good price for around 25 minute drive through the stunning country side. I can not fault it in anyway- even the wifi was amazing given Sri Lanka’s issues with wifi and internet connection. Honestly- don’t even look elsewhere. This is your place. Family hosts with big smiles all the time and they know excellent hotel service! Really truely amazing. Thank you Saman and family! If this long review says anything it is to book this place!

This was the best place I stayed in Sri Lanka. And I traveled for 1.5 month across the whole island. The food was amazing, and they even teach us how to cook it. The houses are made of great quality materials and they have a lovely view. The host are very kind. The guide through the forest was fantastic. We saw a lot of animals that without a professional guide would have been impossible. We learned a lot! Highly recommended!!

We loved our stay at the Rainforest Nest! The location is awesome, just at the border of the jungle. The room has all needed, very clean and cozy. Waking up at the view of the rice field and jungle was my favorite part of our Sri Lanka trip! We had all meals there and they were very big and super delicious! The owner is also a guide in the rainforrest and he is very knowledgeable and fun, we had great time exploring the jungle with him! We really loved our stay with the lovely host family and we will definitely visit them again! ❤️

We had a lovely weekend stay at Rainforest Nest, which overlooks a beautiful and lush paddy field. The chalets are tastefully built and extremely clean including the ensuit bathrooms with hot and cold water. However, the highlight of our stay was the hospitality and service by the owner, Saman and his wife, Umesha. Their service was exceptional and will even put a five star hotel to shame. They went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable and memorable. Also, Umesha treated us to some delicious pani pol pancakes, as well as welithalapa. If your looking for a homely atmosphere, but with privacy and excellent service, Rainforest Nest is definitely a place to check out ⭐

😠 We recently stayed at Cinnamon Village Sinharaja, formerly known as the Rainforest Village. Unfortunately, we were not very impressed with our stay. 👍👍 I have been into many 3,4,5 star hotels with my family but never receive this kind of high class service from any place. It is just fine example for pure Sri Lankan hospitality. Many thanks specially for the Manager and the chef. Their kind attention is beyond the expectations. Foods are very delici...
