We absolutely loved our stay! We booked the Dollhouse (the tiny house detached from the bed & breakfast). Lawrence & Danny (the hosts) were incredible and kind. Breakfast was delicious! The accommodation was clean and comfortable. And it was dog friendly!! We will be back :)

Lovely room, lovely breakfast. If there were a sixth star I would give it for the lovely couple who run the joint, and made us feel like family. If you need a boost to your 'faith in humanity', do yourself a favor and drop on by.

We had a delightful stay at The Dollhouse with hosts Danny and Lawrence. The accommodations were beautiful and filled with every essential detail, making for a comfortable stay. The breakfast was home cooked and delicious and a perfect match with the lovely conversation each morning. We look forward to returning to the Mad Carpenter Inn when we return to Laramie, WY.

Look, where would you rather stay ? At a modern soullessly efficient corporate hotel that looks like a slab of inoffensive beige putty -- or at a lovingly hand-crafted old house where you could spend hours admiring the little details and decorations on every surface and in every nook; and where the owner (the titular Mad Carpenter himself) would gladly give you a tour of the house and its little garden (complete with a secret lilypond), while his wife invites you for some spontaneous afternoon tea ? Would you rather do that, or talk to some bored teenager at the front desk about bonus mileage rewards points ? You're reading this review, so you know my opinion already. That said, if you stay in the main building (vs. the Dollhouse), then be prepared to potentially handle a little noise in the morning, since the bedrooms adjoin the living room/kitchen (and can feel a little small); but this is a very small tradeoff to pay for an otherwise wonderful experience.

We loved our stay the the Mad Carpenter Inn! The Dollhouse was so charming, clean, and felt like home. The woodwork and unique glass art was gorgeous. Loved the bath with jets as well. The hosts were so kind and made a delicious breakfast. We loved chatting with them and felt very welcomed. The game room is also gorgeous and has so many different options for everyone to enjoy. My only wish was that we stayed longer! We will definitely stay again on our next trip to Wyoming.

My husband and I stayed here after skiing at Snowy Range. The location was great, a little over a half hour from the slopes and a couple blocks from restaurants and shops. The hosts were so kind and accommodating. The house is beautifully done!! We can’t wait to stay here next time!

Fantastic night’s stay, wish it could’ve been longer. Just passing through on a cross country road trip. Lovely, generous people, comfy bed, extra amenities & the game room was an incredible unexpected treat! Breakfast was delicious and exceeded all expectations. Truly the only sad thing about the stay was leaving so quickly. Would recommend to anyone & hope we can return!

Our stay here was absolutely wonderful! Lawrence and Danny are gracious and easy to talk with, and served a delicious spread for breakfast. The house is magnificent, with incredible attention to detail and beauty to be found in every corner. Vastly superior to a plain hotel--I would highly recommend staying here. I look forward to the next time our travels take us through Laramie!

We came up from Fort Collins to get away for a night. Gramma took our 2 year old for the day so it was just the two of us. Simply put: positively delightful. Both the place itself, as well as the two owners, Dani & Lawrence. We had a wonderful time & simply cannot say enough positive things. Whatever you come here to do, definitely leave time enough to check out the game room. We spent hours at the pool table. There were plenty of other table games, as well as tons of stuff for kids, including their own little area! Don't forget to look up while you're there...the ceiling is a sight to behold! We even did a puzzle together! (who has time to do that anymore?!) So enjoyable!! The whole place is a divine work of art. We just kept looking around & marveling to each other, "I just LOVE this place!" If you like the way people used to do things, you're going to love it here. They both know their way around the kitchen, too...Lawrence makes a mean (read: delicious) cup of coffee & Dani whipped up a plate of cinnamon rolls that I just about stole entirely for myself. We had such lovely chats with Dani & Lawrence, too. Their hearts & souls are in that place. Clearly they have it on their hearts to give to others. We will be back this summer with the whole family to rent The Dollhouse & stay a while. Thank you so much for creating such an inviting space!!!

It's been a blessing and my pleasure to find and stay at the Mad Carpenters Inn. If your traveling thru or need a weekend away. My first choice in Laramie WY!

Our home away from home—that would be the perfect description for the Mad Carpenter Inn. Our hosts, Lawrence and Danny Rue Thomas, went the extra mile to make our stay a memorable one. They welcomed us with open arms during our late-evening arrival. Our room, the Dollhouse, was immaculate and filled with beautiful solid-oak treasures, including a spiral staircase, that Lawrence had lovingly crafted by hand. Most of all, we felt as if we had known them for years as we visited with them during the sumptuous breakfast that Danny Rue prepared. Thank you, Danny Rue and Lawrence, for your gracious hospitality! We will be back! —Kathy and Steven T. Callan

Let me preface this by saying that I am very picky when it comes to travel/accommodations. We had to attend a wedding in town and I, knowing how small of a town this is, expected that options would be very limited. What I did NOT expect to find this absolute gem amongst said options. I read the reviews and immediately called to book the dollhouse. We have not stayed at a bed and breakfast before and the laid back booking system was not something we were used to, but don’t be thrown off by this. Danny and Lawrence are easy going, incredibly kind, very organised and thoughtful people: who seemingly with such ease, create a warm, welcoming, and incredibly comfortable stay for their guests. My mother in law stayed in the main house, which was also so beautiful and very comfortable. The dollhouse where we stayed, was exceptional as well - it felt like coming home to your favourite cool grandparents house for the holidays. We were allowed to check in early, there was a big community puzzle in the living room that we happily indulged in. Everything was very clean, crazy comfy beds (and my god, the reclining chair on the doll house? We’re now on the hunt for one ourselves…) luxurious shower and tub with jets, incredible breakfast with even better conversation, and more! I can’t say enough good things about the mad carpenter inn. My husband and I agreed that our stay here was the best part of our 24 hours in Laramie. I cannot say that I hope to come back to Laramie (this is not meant to be rude, zero offence to anyone - just illustrating how incredible TMCI is, as Laramie isn’t our typical weekend getaway…) but I would HAPPILY come just to stay here again. 11/10 would recommend!
