The stay at Maype Canteras was one of the highlights of our stay in Las Palmas. First and foremost, the location is amazing. It is just beside the famous Pena La Vieja ice cream shop. When you open your window, you are immediately greeted by an exceptional sea view. For my stay, i booked the suite with ocean view which was worth every penny. I had an amazing time and enjoyed the strolls by the beach. There are several eateries, groceries and tourist shops nearby. Maype Canteras is located near the center of Las Canteras beach which gives you more options to explore its entire length. The check in was hassle free. Everything went well and we were given the keys to the room and front door. They even provided a baby cot as I booked a room with a toddler. The only downside in my opinion is the facilities. The room does not have air conditioning and completely depends on the sea breeze. Eventhough the sea breeze is strong, but keeping the window/door open continuously for a couple of nights has its own health risks as well (dryness, sore throat, flu, etc). Moreover, Gran Canaria is quite sunny with temperatures ranging to 30 deg C. Due to that it can get quite hot in the afternoon. Other than that, there were minor issues with door locks which failed within a few days. But these are minor details which could be improved.

Located literally on the beach. You can see the brilliant ocean view from the balcony. It wasn't a fancy place, but good and clean to spend couple days here! Various restaurants located nearby, walking to the shopping district less than 10 mins. The receptionists are really helpful when I asked for some information. However, it might be a bit noisy during the night, but manageable. Still, highly recommend.

We stayed one week in a one room apartment with balcony overlooking the ocean. Like our very own vip lounge to the beach, for breakfast looking at the tide coming in, or for a beer in the afternoon sun. The apartment was roomy, with a large wardrobe for proper unpacking and a safe for valuables. The kitchen area was small, but the fridge rather large. We had a coffee maker for filter coffee plus perculator, water boiler, toaster, and of course some basic pots and pans which we did not use. On the negative side, water pressure in the taps was only a trickle and it was hardly even lukewarm, but the shower was strong and hot so not the biggest problem. The personell was helpful when we wanted to get some info on where to go hiking and how to get taxis. They're not there the whole day though. Overall, a stay at Maype is very recommended, we could not se any other hotel or apartment along the beach that we would rather have stayed at.
