Spectacular views across Las Palmas and the north side of the island make this worth the hike. It was fairly quiet in January, and the cool breeze was refreshing after the walk up. There are trails coming up from the coast, past Playa del Confital, but the easiest way to get there from town is to go up Ctra. de las Coloradas and hop the barrier just past the crest (see photo). You'll still need somewhat sensible shoes as the last 100m or so is up a fairly steep, rocky dirt track. A short track (back towards Las Palmas) leads to a view of the caves just below the hilltop, although they don't seem to be (safely) accessible.

My favourite view of Las Palmas. You can do it as a circular walk so no need to go back the same way. Great around sunset time

Walked along the coast and then up to the top. We went on a cloudy day as Incant hike in the heat. It’s a bit steep but didn’t take long to get up there. The 360 view of the island is nice :) Bring some water and snacks. There’s not much else around here.

Spectacular view. Not a hard hike to the top of the hill. Interesting caves along the path.

Wonderful place to take in panoramic views of Las Palmas. This is not difficult to reach however it’s quite dangerous in places and I wouldn’t feel comfortable with young children or animals. You will be able to do a round walk eventually they are improving and building new walkways. Overall highly recommended.

A great lookout spot with a view across the peninsula and of the end of Gran Canaria island.

We took bus 41 from the underground bus station near the cruise port in 'downtown' Las Palmas and for 1.40 euro rode it up to the soccer stadium near the summit. From there it is a short but steep hike up dirt trails to the top. Great views of the ocean and of the whole of Las Palmas. Very windy at the top. To return you can walk back to Las Palmas along the same road the bus took (downhill all the way); along trails leading to the seaside; or on the same bus. Bus seems to come by about every 30 minutes. No cafes open in the little neighborhood-therefore no bathrooms anywhere.

You can walk up the hills from El Confital and it's a rather adventurous, albeit short, hike without any signs. Just rely on your sense of direction. There are several ways up and down. If you're going up to watch the sunset then perhaps it's better to go down along the road.
