I will never stay anywhere else in Vegas. The people are outstanding. They took such great care of us. Its small enough to get to know the employees and big enough to get all the "feels" of Vegas. The rooms are nice and the food at the hotel was great. The management is friendly and helpful, they truly want you to have a great time. The owner of the casino was gracious enough to stop and chat with us. This place is incredible and I'm already looking forward to my visit next year. Thank you El Cortez for a much needed, wonderful vacation again!

The El Cortez is a step-back-in-time oasis just steps from the chaos of Fremont Street. The lobby and casino are comfortable. Not as flashy as the Strip but just fine. We stayed in a very clean and comfortable renovated room in the tower. The valet service was quick and responsive. The service was overall friendly and helpful. No perfect, but pretty good. We usually stay on the Strip but the prices were outrageous due to a big trade show. We are glad we tried El Cortez and we will return.

The room was nice, but not clean. My brother & I stayed there 4 nights we only put the sign out for room service once. Housekeeping came in and pull the bed together and brought water and towels. No cleaning at all. The toilet, shower etc needed some attention. My 7yr old great niece can make a bed better than that housekeeper. 2 hangers is not enough, I finally got more hangers after two request. Please do better.

We stayed on the strip for my girlfriend's birthday, what a ripoff! El Cortez actually has fair odds and the food/drinks are reasonably priced. I didn't see the hotel but the Casino is awesome! They have 5$ 3:2 double deck blackjack and 99.8% payback video poker. What more can you ask for? We are thankful this place exists. If I go back to Vegas, I'm definitely staying downtown and gambling here.

I've stayed here twice now spaced one year apart. I highly recommend it to anyone trying to get the best bang for their buck in Vegas and/or wanting to get an "authentic" Vegas feel. The staff have all been wonderful and the atmosphere is very laid back and down to earth. I've been told the odds are very good at this casino compared to most. The price for the room per day for a well-reviewed casino in Vegas is the best you can hope for. Please note that they DO provide a mini fridge but DO NOT provide a microwave. As with any Vegas traveler staying here more than a night or two and driving a car, I highly suggest picking up water/hydrating drinks, snacks, as well as any liquor/alcohol you can at a local Walmart and bringing it back to your room. It will save you so much money and keep you hydrated and happy throughout your trip! The one-piece of advice I would suggest regarding the El Cortez is to NOT book through a third-party service. Instead call the hotel and ask them if you can book for the same price you see advertised on the third party site. If you book through a third party it will be difficult or even impossible for them to give you a free upgrade in room once you arrive. Also, when you are booking PAY ATTENTION TO WHAT ROOM TYPE YOU ARE RESERVING and you will be able to avoid virtually every issue you see from reviewers here if you follow my advice! There are four locations available: The Tower: A new and more modern part of the hotel with more traditional rooms you're accustomed to, with an elevator that brings you to a hallway of doors to the rooms. The windows offer an unobstructed view outdoors. This is my recommendation for a room type of you can get it. The Cabana Suites: This is a separate building across the street from the main Fremont property in a quiet area. It looks to have nice and regularly-designed hotel rooms. You know a reviewer stayed in these rooms because the walls in the room are green. The Pavilion rooms are a style where the only window for the room is on the same wall as the door, which is located either along a walkway on the side of the building or in the hallway enclosed in an open-air passageway. Some of the rooms here can be noisy at night if you are near the side facing the night clubs. Ask at the front desk if you're a light sleeper and want to ensure you have a quiet room. My room was fine here but it was a bit noisy for light sleepers. A big plus of these rooms is that you can take the elevator DIRECTLY to the parking deck on the second and third floors! That's right - no more walking through the casino every single time! The "Original 47"/walk-up rooms: these are accessible only by stairs. I don't have much experience except that my friends stayed at one of the rooms and we're severely disappointed and asked to be relocated. I suggest not staying here if you're not sure what to expect.

I usually don't leave bad reviews but after staying at the El Cortez I felt I should share my experience. When we walked into the room it was clear it had not been cleaned. Wet rags left in the shower, no vacuuming, clipped nails and dirty sheets. We called to be moved to another room to which the manager begrudgingly moved us with no apology. The new room whilst cleaner was still not what you would expect for the price we were paying.

Room was very small, great shower. Nice TV. Restaurant was a real disappointment. Service was slow, food mediocre, prices way high compared to other coffee shops. 3 times I was seated at a broken down table that dropped about 6 inches at one side. Finally called for the manager. He removed it from the dining room. Took 6 days as servers did exactly nothing to remedy the situation. Casino staff was totally awesome. Rookie dealers were a pain. Lots of mistakes at blackjack and baccarat.. However pit crew was top of the mark. Night Club across the street was loud past 4:00 am. Very loud! Ask for a room far away as possible from the Northwest corner of the building.

Personally frequent Vegas a lot. Primarily on the strip, this was a very delightful surprise. Hidden gem absolutely. Beautiful stay, clean, and spacious. ALTHOUGH Got robbed in the casino. Someone stole a bag while we won a small jackpot. Staff seems in on it… but the stay was very nice. Keep electronics literally on your body if you don’t want them stolen

Not the most fantastic place to LOOK at, but it offers a very pleasant environment. Usually not too busy, so whatever have you wanna play will probably be available. The table minimums are some of the lowest in town, and the staff there is always friendly (from my experience). They have a pretty good rewards program too. All in all, a good place to visit during your Vegas trip.

I have not stayed here yet. I wanted to see what the rooms were like and simply asked if I could. The director of operations obliged and showed me many rooms and gave me a historical tour of the place. So my review is only about what I saw for the rooms. Some time spent gambling there and the restaurant. The updated and historical rooms look better than the Golden Nugget and are better priced. The golden nugget charges to have a fridge in the room. All the rooms I saw at the El Cortez had a fridge. The new owner has spent some money updating the place. The food at the restaurant was okay. I had the ribs, they were dry and lacked flavor. Wife had the fried chicken, which was good. The Brussels sprouts were bland. The mashed potatoes were good. The beans were okay. We liked playing the older machines with the quarters. A number of them would not accept the quarters. Those that did were fun to play. I plan to come back with some friends and sit in the bar with leather chairs ... Drink bourbon and smoke cigars. Based on pricing, I would upgrade to the suite. I know which one I would want to get when we come back. Easy walk to the main strip and a real nice group of restaurants across the street Thank you John for the tour.

Great atmosphere reminiscent of the good old casino days. Played video poker, great that they still using the quarter machines the sound of coin drops is fantastic. Had the prime rib dinner special and it came out perfect. Really enjoyed this relic of a casino and will return.

I've stayed in Vegas countless times and this was the best value I have gotten in terms of the money I spent. The room was inexpensive and the experience was hassle-free. The room was about what I expected for the price, typical cheaper end Vegas room. The bed was comfortable and the room was well air conditioned. There is a mini fridge, TV, and safe. The bathroom absorbed the outside heat very well and it felt like a sauna. The walls are thin and we could unfortunately hear the outside party that went until 3am as if we were at the party. It was loud. The service was top tier. Everyone was super nice and helped us with any questions we had. Every member of the staff from the room service to the casino workers gives 110%. The parking garage is great and the security guarding it was extremely helpful. I would totally recommend this place for somebody looking for a simple living accomodation while they are in town.

I have stayed at El Cortez twice this year - first by accident, the second by absolute choice! I've been visiting Las Vegas regularly for almost 40 years. Decided to take a chance off the Strip, and am very glad we did. El Cortez has everything and more - classic, vintage history, perfect accommodations, excellent restaurant, variety of table games and limits, wide variety of slot choices, convenient to other Downtown attractions. But what I have enjoyed most is the hospitality. A lost art but very much alive at El Cortez. From the bell service, to check in, to beverage service, security, housekeeping and beyond, all are ready with a smile and seemingly endless dedication to the guest at an extremely affordable price. Ms. Liz could teach a Master Class in hospitality. Nords is the consummate Casino host. Give Downtown and El Cortez a try especially if you're looking for something just a little less hectic than the Strip but with all the fun Vegas has to offer. Can't wait to return!

Staff was pretty friendly. Hotel was very nice and well kept. It did not smell like smoke at all. I think I'm addicted to the smell of this place. It smells amazing I don't know what the smell is and I can't explain it but it smells amazing. I definitely wish somebody would tell me what sent they use in their hotel. Thinking of looking into staying here next visit, it seems to have a mysterious haunt to it, and please do not book with children. Even to stay in the hotel, all patrons must be 21+

I love going to El Cortez!!! This is a great casino that doesn't have the corporate vibe. All the table games are affordable and don't break the pocket book. It has great vibes when playing table games. Played blackjack there many times and always had a good time. Started playing craps there a couple of years ago and have great luck throwing dice there. I've hit the ATS(All, Tall, Small) on the side bet which provided great vibes with the other players. I always make it a point to go to El Cortez when I make it to Vegas.

The prime rib dinner special is spot on. I can see why "world famous" is their claim and I can vouch for that. Actually that's an understatement for the flavor and tenderness. However the service the waitress was horrible horrible. They had one waitress for the entire dining room. When we got there it was not that busy but 20 minutes in we still didn't have water on our table. Once the food came out It was a beautiful and tasty dinner and my family had a wonderful time. I do want to say the food came out in record timing. However I asked for a to go box and I had to take my baked potato home wrapped in a napkin. The waitress was friendly Justice just extremely overworked.

The hotel was a great stay! It’s old school Vegas and filled with the old charm. The rooms are modern and spacious. The hotel itself is very clean, friendly staff and well taken care of. The free parking is nice and it’s close to Fremont. My only complaint would be that it doesn’t have amenities like pools, hot tubs, lots of restaurants, shops, etc. The price of the room was good and the views are nice as well.

As for the casino? I ADORE that the El Cortez is 21+ and I adore the old time slots:) always nice getting to hear that sound when you win 🥰 absolutely upgrade and stay in the tower , if you stay in the cabanas you will hear the street traffic and pedestrians a lot more than you would think. And maybe the beds are a little softer up there too. The decor is fabulous honestly. I adore the bright colors mixed with the white alligator walls

This is my probably my favorite Las Vegas stay that I’ve had. We were originally in the Cabanas for our first two nights, but decided to upgrade to the original 47 on our last night. I’m so glad we were able to! Both rooms were just fine, basic rooms (exactly what I expected) but the original 47 room was exactly what I wanted. Even though the rooms have been updated, they still feel very old timey - in a good way, of course. Overall I loved the experience and this is the first Las Vegas hotel that I’ve genuinely wanted to stay at again in the future.

This is my new favorite place to stay downtown. I stayed twice and both times the rooms were clean and comfortable. The bathroom shower was modern and decor is updated. Weekly prices are good. You can make reservations online or by phone. Restaurant food and service is consistent.

I was SO excited to stay in the beautiful Original 47 rooms, and upgraded to a suite. When I walked in, I was originally shocked by the layer of dust on all the tables and drink rings, but I thought it must be the age of the hotel. It kept getting worse. The bed wasn’t turned and had hair all throughout it, the bathroom was gross, and the vanity had dirt and hair on the surfaces. Don’t even wanna say what the floor looked like. I went to the front desk thinking they’d be understanding and they made it seem like my issue. They said they sent someone to clean it multiple times but no one went up there. I got an amenity fee refund which was a nice gesture but I would prefer to have stayed somewhere clean or gotten the room fully refunded. I say go here and check out the lobby but stay somewhere else if you don’t wanna be totally grossed out.

This was my first time staying off Strip and I have no intention of staying anywhere but downtown again after my stay at El Cortez. I loved the hotel. The casino has a great vibe and loved the older music played. I really enjoyed the vintage look they've maintained. All staff I interacted with were great and I enjoyed the fact that the property was smaller enough that you saw the same employees on multiple days instead of just a sea of faces on the mega resorts. I stayed in the Cabana Suites across the street and having to have a wristband to access the building made me feel more secure as a female staying in a room by myself. No much in the way of dining on site, but due to its great location in Fremont East we got to sample from several of the restaurants/pubs surrounding the hotel, and were not disappointed. While I would still visit the Strip on future trips, I enjoyed the chill vibe of staying downtown so much that I will definitely be booking at the El Cortex for my next stay.

This a fantastic player-friendly casino. The El Cortez is more of a classic Nevada casino. Low ceilings with friendly dealers and servers. Rather than the grandeur of most MGM and Caesars properties, the El Cortez is warm and inviting. This is a homey casino and resort. I thoroughly enjoyed playing here with $10 single deck blackjack (paying blackjack 3-2) and $10 craps. Cocktail waitresses were attentive and courteous. I played here one day and came back for another before my trip was over. Great property and enjoy El Cortez, highly recommend.

We go here and stay once a month for a nice lil getaway. We love the rooms! Clean, comfy and staff is awesome!! Security is great too. You get armbands when you check in so you can get on the elevator to your room. That's great!! The games are on point. We go a couple times a week to gamble. We have good days and bad days, but overall, our favorite spot

I adore this hotel. It is so charming. It’s like going back in time and I live for it. The rooms are so nice/clean and amazingly priced. Friendly staff with good stories of old Vegas. The best old slots and a good place to do table games as a beginner (they aren’t as intimidating as other casinos). I got the 12.95 prime rib at the restaurant and it was delicious. The hair salon is adorable and the woman who owns it is such a joy (also has good stories). They also have some good perks for those staying in the hotel (free drinks, casino credit, free bottle of wine, etc). I can’t imaging staying anywhere else in downtown!

I love staying here because you get that "Old Hollywood" vibe with their rooms. I guarantee you won't find another hotel like the El Cortez. Their service is phenomenal. You also get a later than usual checkout(12pm) , which is great. And you don't get these stragglers going in and out of their hotel room floors because you need to have a certain color bracelet for that visit. So you will feel safe and its quiet.

I enjoyed visiting the casino. Nice employees. Great blackjack tables. I like the less hectic, but polished vibe of downtown. Wonderful, classic look inside. Some updating has been done but also a lot of poished up original furnishings. Love too how they pump out so much 1960s music. Miss hearing 50's and 60's music which was 'oldies' for this 1980s kid.

I stayed in one of the original 47, and it was nice. Liked the mid-century modern and the vintage feel. Bed could have been more comfortable, but not bad. Great value, though. Service was outstanding. The staff was friendly, but in a genuine way, not like they were performing a script like the at the strip casinos. Location is good. About a block from Fremont street and 15 minute drive from center strip. $10 craps and blackjack and great match play promotions for showing your boarding pass. I booked my next Vegas stay here. Highly recommend. Prime rib at Siegals 41 was delicious and at $16.99 it is one of the best if not the best value for dining in Vegas.

You get what you pay for. We had really inexpensive room -- it was $25. We were willing to take the risk -- we got there at 11pm and were leaving at 9am. We like historic places and this hotel has tons of history, having said that the rooms in the pavilion were worn and dimly lit. The shower water wasn't really hot, even after running for some time. The biggest issue with the room was the club the across the street. It was extremely loud until 2am. So if you don't plan on going to bed until after 2am, it won't be an issue. We did find it peculiar that the staff was vacuuming and doing clean up outside the room. The restaurant was outstanding, we had our food quick and it was large and tasty. We loved the shuttle to the airport, that was a great.

Our best Las Vegas casino experience. Did not stay at the hotel so cannot comment about the quality of the rooms, but it is a classic hotel still standing strong in downtown Las Vegas, just off the Fremont Street Experience. We had a lot of fun at their slots and also at the roulette and blackjack tables. It's a different atmosphere and crowd compared to the strip and definitely worth experiencing. Their buy ins are generally lower than other places on the strip so a good option for beginners. Their hotel interiors are also nice and cozy and we really enjoyed ourselves here.

This classic downtown property has it all: great games and limits, restaurants, and an atmosphere that's unlike any other. Seigel's 1941 has prime rib all day and it's damn good. All other properties wait until 4pm or later and many only have it as a gimmick. They do prime rib right and the chef actually cares about his menu. Watch for BS in this casino from undesirable patrons.

I visited the El Cortez hotel for a day trip to downtown Las Vegas and I enjoyed the vintage vibe and the low prices. The hotel is located on a quiet block, just one block away from the Fremont Street Experience, where you can find plenty of entertainment and dining options. The hotel has a casino, a fitness center, and a 24-hour restaurant, but no pool .Overall, I would recommend this hotel for anyone looking for a budget-friendly and authentic Vegas experience.

This weekend is not a good weekend to live in downtown Las Vegas. Good luck getting into a casino. Had to put in my last man standing. I live four blocks from the El Cortez. I had to get in my car, circle around to the opposite side. Parked in the Four Queens, walked to the El Cortez. Four Queens charged me $5 to park there for half an hour. Thanks Life is Beautiful. Can't wait till you're gone.

I had an excellent experience staying at the El Cortez over in the tower rooms. Honestly, one of the best rooms I've been in while staying downtown. I appreciated the little welcome message on the tv in the room to great me when I walked in. Plus, I though the chair & reading lamp above it was a good idea. This is in addition to the great service I had encountering the front desk staff when I had to leave early due to the inclement weather hitting California. This isn't the first time I had to adjust or cancel a reservation with the Cortez. Both times the staff were completely understanding and courteous. Overall, if you want to stay downtown in a unique place at a reasonable price. This place can't be beat. Whenever I come back to Vegas, I'll definitely pay a visit to the El Cortez.

Family owned and old school gaming. They have coin machines and modern. One deck blackjack and single 0 roulette. Definately a better payout vs. Strip casinos. They have a tribute hallway with pictures and history. I spent 20 minutes admiring the history.

This place is cool and authentic and like stepping back in time. Service is great and the restaurant is wonderful. I stayed in one of the original rooms that are over the casino. These rooms have been totally restored and renovated and are beautiful and very comfortable. The casino is friendly and fun and odds seemed better than most places in vegas. I highly recommend this establishment.

Surprisingly a nice hotel. My expectations were exceeded. After staying on the strip for many years I thought I would try downtown for a change of scenery. The room was recently updated and in great condition. Staff was friendly and attentive. Didn't have to wait 30 minutes for drinks while playing slots. Valet parking too. While my stays are always comped on the strip, I think I will be booking the El Cortez again for my next Las Vegas stay.

This little gem sits right off Fremont and is well worth the extra few steps. My party of 5 played on the craps tables for a few hours and it was a blast. The drink service was frequent and friendly. The croupiers and the pit boss Melody were engaging and just plain hilarious. Very fun and accommodating, it was the best time we had in Vegas!! It has a few coin slots which is super cool! You can put in bills and if you win it spits out tokens for that satisfying CLANGALANG sound lol.

DO NOT EVEN COME IF YOU HAVE KIDS… Where do I begin? We had the WORST Vegas hotel experience here by far, me and my family drove to Las Vegas from another state and I had booked the hotel room where we were going to Stay for the night, Once we got there they asked all my family members for ID, and get this, if you bring your family and have kids STAY AWAY FROM THIS HOTEL, They are not family friendly, they are strictly 21+ one of my brothers forgot his ID, he has schizophrenia so he tends to forget things all the time, when we got to the desk the staff right away pointed that we have a under 21 family member so they were not gonna allow him to even step inside their premises, we suggested that we were going to stay In another hotel to stay together as FAMILY, my father has diabetes so travel is not easy for him plus the heat in Vegas during summer time is not so good, then the hotel staff said if we wanted to go to another hotel that they were still gonna charge for the room even if we don’t stay, we were so disappointed because they had absolutely no solution to the issue at hand, they so state that is 21+ in the website but who has time to read their unusual terms, they held our money hostage so we had to get another room in the golden nugget so my brother without ID and my underage brother can have a place to sleep in. I will NEVER Come back to El Cortez Hotel, they gotta change their stupid policies , holding people’s money for the room is not the way to go, specially since we were there before check in. So if you looking for a hotel and have kids STAY AWAY.. Go to golden nugget if you looking to stay in Fremont experience. Rooms in the new tower are good, location wise is good too but customer service is in the Sewer. Only reason they getting a star is because the room was actually good , but that’s about it, music plays loudly until around 2am as well, my entire family was absolutely disappointed, to make things worst this happened In my Birthday!! thanks a lot El Cortez Hotel!!

We stayed thurs - sat and got a great deal, and a wonderful room. We didn’t know there was a $150 deposit upon arrival, but that’s ok. Note: 21 & up in the whole place, no kids at all. Quiet, nice, clean, I was very pleasantly surprised with my stay here. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a good value nice place for staying in Vegas.

Really enjoyed checking this hotel and casino out. One of my favorite things was using the dollar coins slot machines. I've always wanted to use one of the old machines. I wanted to hear that clink of the coins hitting the tray. Strange, I know, but just something I always thought would be cool to check out and I'm so happy I did. The history behind the hotel is pretty intriguing as well. I'd say if you plan on going to Vegas, this is another must see.

We enjoyed our stay here for the most part. As of June 2023 the lobby is under construction. However, the restaurants and bars in the hotel were nice and the gaming was a lot of fun. I think the best part of this hotel is the proximity to some great restaurants and bars. Glad we gave this place a try! It was a great value overall.

This grand old hotel and casino are always buzzing. Right off of Fremont Street, and it copius diversions, if the smokey casino isn't your style, take a walk down Fremont. The rooms we got were smallish but clean and comfortable with good beds and linens. We called housekeeping for additional towels, but no one bothered to bring us any. There was no hand soap in the room, but the shampoo and lotions were high quality. There was an all-night rave going on across the street, so bring earplugs. This place is a neat slice of Las Vegas history, but they could do better for their customers. This is a 21 and over location. No one is allowed without ID. Upon registration, you will be issued a hospital-style wristband that allows elevator access off of the Casino floor.

Love this place and I will continue to stay here whenever I’m in town! Love the new tower rooms, they are nice and a great value! Restaurant is great and 24 hours - loved the prime rib special and free glass of wine to go with it, all for $16.95! Love the small-old school Vegas casino, not too crowded the times that I’ve been. LOVE the blackjack $5 in the AM weekdays and then $10 tables, single deck. That was my favorite part, along with the Wizard of Oz witch old slot machine! The location is perfect, right by Fremont street and it’s nice to be off Fremont in my opinion! Staff are great and friendly! Highly recommend!!!!

My first time staying on the older side of Vegas. It was a different experience I truly enjoyed. I've been to Vegas a few times but only got to stay on the main strip. The Hotel was very Vintage and the staff was incredible. I loved the cabana suite. It took me back in time. The room was clean and comfortable. It was very reasonably priced and close to Fremont. I would definitely stay here again.

Have stayed here several times, always different rooms. Every time there was an issue with the room. This stay was absolutely terrible! Our room was good, but the constant loud music that was vibrating the room until at least 3am was terrible. Hot water in the shower was almost non-existent. Staff was not as friendly this time either. People were following us around as we were trying to play at the casino part as well. I used to recommend this place to people but not anymore. Better rooms and better slot payouts on the strip for sure!

Except for the ubiquitous, pervasive stench of cigarette smoke, I like this hotel. The AC is ice cold in our room, a big plus! The shower is luxurious in our Tower room. We received decent toiletries and two bottles of water. There is also a mini fridge; plenty of outlets for charging. Parquet floors a nice touch too. Old Vegas feel with poster bed replicas. There is an in- room safe (ours was locked so couldn’t use it). We paid about $150 a night for a Friday and Saturday . The amenity fee is just another way for them to wring more money out of you and I’m not even sure what that covers. Casino too smoky for us but the 24 hour Subway is nice, especially if you’re out late and hungry. I’d stay here again.

People who know Vegas stay at the El Cortez. Tourists stay on the strip. This is the place you go if you want old school Rat Pack Las Vegas. The rooms are clean and reasonably priced. The staff is extremely friendly. The decor is authentic, classic, and classy. If you want Disney mixed in with your Vegas this is not the place for you. I won't stay anywhere else. The El Cortez is authentic Las Vegas.

If you plan on playing slot machines plan on losing, as I walked throughout the casino I absolutely saw no one winning. I spent a few hundred and won nothing, even when I got the bonus and 15 free spins I won $8.60!! This casino advertises as some of the loosest slots in Las Vegas I strongly disagree. It's not in the best area, be careful. My first time going and my last. If you want to keep customers, you should try letting them win just a little bit.

We came by because the Mob Museum offered us B1G1 lunch and $5 in free game play. We ate first. The Reuben is awesome. Way better than I expected. Then my $5 in slots afforded me over 30 min of gas me play. Way more bang for your buck than on the strip.

We stayed at El Cortez for a long weekend. Building, location and casino are all so beautiful. Love the historic, classic Vegas vibes. The cons: the towels are disgusting, we had 4 adults staying in a double room, front desk knew that. They continued to bring us 2 stained towels every single day. We’d have to be annoying and continuously call up for more towels, which all were dirty. The pillows are insanely uncomfortable, very thin. And the biggest negative: there were children staying on our floor. We specifically booked el Cortez for the 21+ policy. The kids ran up and down the hallway every day, we told multiple staff and no one seemed to care. This is not a 21+ only hotel so don’t expect peace and quiet like the other adults only hotels. Would not stay here again specifically for this reason.

I love the El Cortez! But it's the people that makes it stand out. They are knowledgeable, dedicated, helpful, caring, and happy go the extra mile. Their location is excellent! Close to lots of great restaurants, other casinos, the Fremont Experience, Container Park, Mob Museum. Easy walking distances and less expensive than the strip. I highly recommend the El Cortez.

The best casino downtown.. every now and then a homeless person comes in but staff pretty good at removing them from property.. I've seen a lot of winners here.. definitely a must gamble here..

Overall I enjoyed our stay, though it's a mixed bag. Room was underwhelming. Stayed in an Original 47 room. Decor was fine but room is small and restroom is the smallest I've been in. There are also nearly no wall outlets or plugs anywhere. Had to pull the bed away from the wall to find a rats nest of cords and a surge protector. Floor was sticky. Also found a customer comment card from 10/8 on the counter (we stayed on the 16-18) saying all this nasty stuff about the room. (2247) and how displeased they were. And it was just sitting there on the counter for I guess 6 days. For the positive, I love the casino. Good variety and cheap. Food was nearly non-existent, except average Seigels. Location was okay. Might come back and try to get a better or more updated room.

Stayed in the renovated cabana suites, which is across the street separated from the main hotel. Overall, the suites were nice, but did run into several issues. First, pillows were soft and uncomfortable. Sliding glass door to shower was hard to open and close. Mirror in bathroom had spots on it, so obviously was not cleaned throughly. They do offer a free hotel shuttle service to the airport from 7am-2pm everyday, but the shuttle was 10 minutes late picking me up. Pros: Close to the Fremont Street Experience and many bars and restaurants. Cons: Suites are detached from the main hotel. Overall experience was okay. Probably would pay extra to stay at Circa or The D if staying in the Fremont District next time.

This is my second time staying at the property. The rooms are clean and comfortable, in the tower. We requested a quiet room, and we were placed on the 2nd floor with a room next to the emergency stairwell. The noise level was nonexistent, which was perfect. Room and elevator access is controlled by a wrist band. The coffee cart that is available in the morning is perfect to start the day. I'll be back.

Oh El Cortez. You are one of my all time favorite Vegas destinations. This place is legendary. If you’re a craps player- I highly recommend playing here. The crowd is always fun and tables are never over priced. Keno Players!! They have all the Keno games here. Regular Game King and the real fun ones with Jack N Jenny. My friends and I come here every trip. I absolutely love the old school Vegas feel. Please don’t change a thing.

The hotel room was actually very nice and felt upscale. Nice view south towards the strip. Location next to Fremont St was perfect. Parking is free. The negatives are that getting from the parking to your room is a bit of a chore initially. Just be patient and ask. And let's not forget the casino smoke! Too bad they dont have industrial strength ventiliation like the newer Strip casinos!

El Cortez casino is truly a unique property. I love the history of the place it truly is a flashback to Old School Vegas. The problem is I never do well here. The bartenders are very friendly even though they have the light system in place it doesn't take much to get a comped drink. Next time I think I'll stick with the bar. Check it out and see it for yourself

Located off of Fremont St in Las Vegas! This casino and hotel has been around since 1946! The slot machines are nice however the gambling floor gets crowded by the bar area! The service is great and next time I will def try the prime rib dinner for $16.95!

We didn't stay here this visit, but we definitely would! Friendly staff, super clean, freshly renovated restroons, nice slot areas. We had fun! We ate breakfast at Siegels in the casino. Waitress was fantastic. Good location for easy access to old Vegas without being in the freak show itself.

Played UTH had fun. Our dealer was fantastic. Her name escapes me but she has long dark hair and she was from New Jersey. She was very welcoming easy to talk with made you feel welcome. She should be recognized for her devotion to your company. Also played coin slot machines that was really fun, like the old days. If I come back to vegas I am staying at your hotel/casino.

Tower room was very spacious and nicely decorated. Keurig, waters, and fridge in room guess thats what your amenity fee is all about because there is no pool. Shower was awesome! Had a nice view of the city. Stayed 3 nights maid only came once. Room doors slam shut so that was a bit annoying and gap at the bottom is about a half inch. Free shuttle to the airport for your departure, big plus. People in the casino are a bit sketchy, was approached by several trying to bum cigarettes but thats kind of normal on the north end of town. My first morning here woke up to them tearing up the concrete floors in the lobby, was very loud and annoying. Wanted a hotdog from the cute little cart, they were all out of hotdogs, only had brats, every other time I tried to get one it was closed!! Was hoping this place would have been totally awesome but it was just ok. Will probably stay some where else next time.

El Cortez is my official favorite casino. I’ve stayed here many times and have never had any issues. The food is great and the drinks are just as good. The slots I’ve had some pretty good luck on. It’s right at the start of downtown Fremont experience so if that’s where your headed on your trip it’s a great place to stay. It’s surrounded by great indoor and outdoor dining loud music and dancing. Great place to stay if you don’t wanna spend on transportation because there is something good for everyone near by.

I’ve been visiting Vegas for years and usually stay at mgm and Caesar’s properties because I’ve built up points and get great deals. I wanted stay downtown this time and I’m glad I picked the El Cortez. It’s about a block away from Fremont Experience so when you’re tired of the chaos, this place offers a bit more peace. Super friendly staff all around. This pit boss on the craps table on Monday, Feb 6, made me feel like a regular and you can tell his positive attitude reflects on the other dealers. I come from CA mainly to play craps and I’m glad I found this place. Jimmy and Yvette the bartender were awesome, the front desk clerk on Friday morning, Feb 3 and Monday night, Feb 6 was an awesome guy and made me feel welcome. I’ll be back. Not sure yet how good the players club offers will be as far as room rates in comparison to the offers I get from the big resorts, but looking forward to doing business in the future.

Beautifully restored and maintained historic property. Not the scale or bling of the mega-resorts on the strip, but better in many ways. Most importantly are the low minimums and attractive game rules like 10x odds on craps or 3:2 blackjack on single and double deck. Lots of slots (including a section that uses real coins!) in a good sized casino floor yet with an intimate feel. The newly remodeled tower rooms are very well designed and appointed. For me, I had a view of the strip that I never saw in my 40 years of staying mid-to-south strip. All the staff are very friendly and helpful. Free parking for guests. Oh, yeah... Beer stations IN the pit with a dedicated server making sure you don't wait more than a few seconds for your favorite ice cold brew! You can feel the "rat pack" era everywhere, with old standards music playing. It's a great place. I'll be back!

  • 4/5 Jarret B. 2 years ago on Google
First time in Vegas and I know I'll be back to this place. It's more classic Vegas to what the rest of downtown and the strip has to offer. They have legit coin slots too and normal minimums at the table, none of that $25+ crud like the strip. It does get kinda noisy at night and it's at the edge of where lots of homeless wander.

  • 5/5 Anthony D. 2 years ago on Google
One of the last casinos NOT owned by a big corporation, right downtown too! The staff is ALWAYS friendly, and the drinks are extra tasty. They still have a massive coin machine section (real coins, not that paper ticket nonsense) mostly coin video poker. That's my vice, so right up my alley. Plenty of paper ticket slots, and one kiosk of coin slots $1 machines ($2 and $3 max bets on coin slot machines)

The description on there website makes it sound like updated luxurious suites. What you get is a little cracker jack of a room that doesn't even have a coffee pot. They totally mislead with a fantastic description. Find someplace else. Only reason I'm giving 1 star is because I can't give less.

  • 4/5 Adam H. 2 years ago on Google
Very good place to stay at in downtown. Rooms are cheap and nice, especially the tower premium rooms. GREAT casino if you are new to gambling with plenty of games and low minimum bets. Super friendly service at check in and restaurant. Only reason it loses a star is because service was slow and not the best location. Would give 4.5 stars if i could.

Went to Fremont with family reunion and ended up at El Cortez. Best decision we made. We got our gambling on and enjoyed the less crowded drunken activity. There was a quaint corner bar with good bartenders comfortable low leather chairs and we just really enjoyed catching up. One of our favorite places to reconnect. Happy Birthday El Cortez! I see why you are still around. You have customer service down pat. A Las Vegas icon

I stayed in the vintage rooms that you can only access by stairs. The stairs weren’t a lot at all and the aesthetic was very cool. The rooms were a bit small but the beds were comfortable. The ac wasn’t working in our room it was only heat coming through so it was 80 degrees at first and took management 2 hrs before they came to fix it and it took 5 minutes to fix. After a 6 hr plane ride I didn’t want to wait till midnight to sleep and their excuse was most maintenance didn’t want to come up because the rooms were haunted. I never experienced anything but maybe if you are afraid to do your job get a new one. Other than that part I really did like our stay it was a nice location felt safe.

  • 2/5 David N. 7 months ago on Google
Hotel rooms were okay, the AC was struggling. There was no place to sit down in the room except for the bed. They advertise a $35 rate but they add a $24 "amenities" fee. If you want to hang out at Fremont it's a good location but if you're here for the strip don't stay here. It's $20 to get to the strip

I really like El Cortez! It’s like a throwback to Vegas of the times when the mobsters ruled! As soon as you walk in and the sound system os playing songs from the 50’s and 60’s you know it’s something different. They have limited table games - almost all are blackjack (one of the few still paying 2 to 1 for a blackjack), the odd craps and Texas hold’em and that’s about it! As Texas hold’em and blackjack are my fave games that’s alright with me. Great old world (maybe seedy if you were being uncharitable) casino. I like it and love the heritage that they are so proud of. Perfect place if you are looking for an old throwback casino and are not interested in playing a dozen different table games!

Old school casino with high link payouts. The Players desk is accommodating and very nice. There is plenty of new and old slot machines. Great place to have fun.

Tried to go eat at the restaurant. Called ahead and spoke with concierge to plan ahead. We had planned to spend the whole day there switching kids off with my hubby. We were turned away by multiple staff, stating even the parking garage is 21+ only. Entire establishment 21+ only. Very disappointed. We wanted to gamble on the real quarter slots.

had a great night on the casino floor. I like this place; I see why d lucky is always filming from there. I'll think about staying here next time in town—hope the rooms are as nice as the common areas.

Went to see this historic place. Had lunch and it was great. Service and portions were huge. Parking garage is right there with elevators so you don't have to worry about parking. They even have coin slots.

My husband and I are in our 70's and have visited Las Vegas many times. We had never stayed at the El Cortez before. We loved it! The Tower rooms have been beautifully remodeled. Try to get a room facing the mountains, not toward the Fremont Street Experience. Our room was on the Fremont Street side and we could hear the boom, boom, boom from the music from 9:00 pm to 2:00 am. Our windows were vibrating too. So, the even-numbered rooms face the mountains. All their staff was so friendly and helpful. Siegel's 1941 has very good food and it is not expensive. Le Thai and Ichiban Sushi was also excellent. I even won one of their nightly drawings for $100.00 free play.

So the location is nicely off Freemont Street which allows for a nice quiet sleep for Downtown. If you like that old Vegas charm this place is for you. They have dollar blackjack and roulette which is rare these days in Vegas. Drinks are well made and affordable if not playing. No more "Say Hi To Matthew" freeplay which is a bummer.

  • 5/5 Don H. 8 months ago on Google
Booked the room at 8 pm and showed up at midnight. Easy check-in and stayed in the original tower. Very clean room and super quiet. Very nice just being off the street a little, but it's still easy to get to.

I booked a "Original 47" room and it was excellent.. newly remodeled but still retaining its old charm. The beds were comfy, and they have the best blackjack in Vegas! Will be staying here again next time I'm in town.
