Awesome hotel in Las Vegas New Mexico. The rooms were clean and tidy with clean towels and good beds not the greatest hotel room nothing very special about it. The view of the plaza is great from the room I stayed in. Service was good and the location is great with restaurants and shops all throughout the plaza. The hotel has a saloon, coffee shop, restaurant, and gift shop. The hotels restaurant is great with a good food selection if you’re staying here and looking for a nice restaurant look no further. Overall this hotel is great and I would recommend it.

Oh wow, so many details concerning lodgings seem to change almost weekly. My stay here was in my Top 10. Too bad for those posters that didn't have such a perfect experience. Historic hotels and lodgings should not be held up to the generic standards of today's mesmerized and brainwashed customers. Wake up and realize that your generic, bland, Box Hotels only offer more of your dreaded sense of what you expect while traveling on the road. Stay in a box that has no other greatness than a roof over your head, or choose to experience the magic of a step in time. This hotel has abundant historic beauty, and if you sit awhile within its walls, you will be transformed.

One might stay at this historic hotel. The old decor, friendly staff, and spacious rooms were something notable. Dinner in the cafe was quite tasty and reasonably priced. I would stay there again.

I typically don't write bad reviews, but this property was exceptionally unprofessional upon check in. I reserved on their website specifically because I wanted the set up of rooms that I needed for our Christmas celebration with our grown son. Upon arrival we received two rooms, both with one bed. Although the rooms were amazing, they did not fit our needs, we needed one more bed. Took the keys to one room back and was told that since I booked online, on their website there was no guarantee that what I purchased is what I would receive. Sorry, what? I was told that I had to reserve over the phone to make sure I got the rooms needed. My reservation was correct, I had purchased the correct things so imagine my confusion and frustration. I was told that the only thing they could do was get me a cot, which was unacceptable for our stay. So I asked if I could rent another room, no. Is there a room with two beds like I purchased? No, since you booked online there was nothing they could do, I was getting more and more frustrated as the sign behind her in the lobby had plenty of rooms open for rent, when I inquired about those, I was told they were under construction. I wasn't asking for anything free and was more than willing to pay for another room so our family could be comfortable. I then asked her to call a manager and she advised that the manager lived far away, I still pressed for her to call and after a few minutes she went to the back of the hotel and advised she had spoken to her manager and there was nothing that they could do. So fine, get me two cots so I can make a proper bed. I also asked the name of the manager and was told she didn't know her name, didn't you just talk to her? She finally gave me the name of Star and I inquired if Star had a card, and was told no, so I asked for Star's last name and was told that she didn't know her last name and wouldn't give it to me if she did. I'm sorry, any time there is a problem and you have attitude instead of a solution I'm going to need some information on who is in charge. Needless to say, we never got our cots, or extra blankets, so one of our family members slept on a sofa with no pillows or blankets. As a person in the hospitality industry, I was appalled at the lack of customer service and professionalism. There needs to be some serious training for the front desk staff and I'm saddened that our staycation in New Mexico was not what it should have been.

Beautiful historical hotel. Unfortunately the room climate was too warm even with AC and the beds were terrible because they are old and not leveled (head space next to head board is much lower than edge of bed). Got disappointed for not having free coffee in the morning without a notice of schedule (available only from 5am to 7am) on Sunday but I got free coffee on Saturday morning 9ish. Room do not have a coffee maker. Service staff at front desk and cafe were not friendly and unapologetic.

My wife and I only went to the gift shop and the hotel bar for drinks, so I can only speak on those. The old building is beautiful to look at and I wish we could have walked to walk up the stairs to where the rooms were, but we could not because we were not paying guests. The gift shop has a ton of art, sculptures, books, ornate mirrors, and a variety of other hand made things for sale. The bar had a very nice atmosphere with its vintage styling, the art on the walls and the flower arrangements on the tables. The cocktail list was a fabulous collection of drinks I would never have even thought of, but that tasted excellent and the presentation of them was perfect. You can tell that the head bartender, who came up with the cocktail menu and that made our drinks, is really passionate about his work and seemed like a very nice guy. My wife and I enjoyed our time here.

Las Vegas NM has a very varied history and the Plaza Hotel has been part of it. Used in more than its fair share of movies, my favourite being the staircase story as posted here. Situated on the town's main square, walking around the town is made easy. Lots of restaurants to choose from although many close on Tuesday. We had a terrific dinner at The Skillet. Our room was in the Ilfeld building (next door). This started life as a department store, the room had signs of this, very high ceiling and a large (but not intrusive) metal pillar. All the amenities were there including fridge and microwave, the en-suite and a well-stocked bookcase! The colour scheme was rather dull and could do with an upgrade. 2 Queen beds provided a lot of room and air-con/heater was quiet and effective. A terrific gift shop off the lobby and the architecture of these two buildings as well as others proves there was no lack of money at one time. Do visit the area around the old station/visitors centre for murals and the Fidel hotel, Rawlins building and Pedro's Bakery - yum, yum and yum!

We thoroughly enjoyed our room. Nothing fancy but historical and comfortable. Unfortunately, the triad of Restaurant, Coffee Shop and, Saloon left us annoyed and feeling like idiots. We stayed here for my birthday weekend and the short staffing and lack of communication for the hours of all 3 places was really disappointing. The Saloon closed early and the restaurant wasn't open for breakfast and the coffee "shop" wasn't open until after 7am. I had prickly service at all 3 places and it definitely affected our stay and had us looking elsewhere. Be mindful when staying here!

The chairs are uncomfortable, I've been there a dozen times and the bartender has yet to mix me a drink that tastes good. The only thing I feel safe ordering is a wiskey on the rocks. It is usually too well lit, and the food is salty.

"An utterly disappointing experience at this hotel. The absence of functioning air conditioning turned the rooms into stifling spaces, making the stay uncomfortable and restless. Adding to this discomfort was the lackluster customer service, which failed to address these issues promptly or effectively. The rooms themselves were a letdown, showing signs of neglect and poor maintenance, contributing to an overall disappointing stay that fell far short. "Unfortunately, my stay at the motel was quite disappointing. The room was uncomfortably hot, and despite requesting assistance, the service provided was rude and unhelpful. The lack of attention to basic comfort needs and the discourteous behavior from the staff made for an unpleasant experience. Improvement in both room conditions and customer service is much needed for future guests." β€œYou hire College kids to run your business. Sadly this reflects your business. I tried to get water or ask questions but staff was rude and offensive.

Drove from Santa Fe to visit the historic hotel, buy local frozen beef, & enjoy Lavender Lattes on a Saturday afternoon. The Barrista had left, so no Lattes, the baked goods were stale & the lone chap selling the beef affable but clueless. Pity because the hotel was really old & interesting.

Right in the middle of the town even more wonderful at night. There's a ghost in one of the rooms if you like chills. The food is amazing n the severics are get. The stars even fill the night sky.
