Stayed here for a few nights. Room was relatively clean and the beds are reasonably comfortable. There is a bit of traffic noise from the main road and the hot water is almost non existent, hot water ran out after the first minute leaving me with soapy hair, had to rinse off with cold water on an already cold winter morning. This could be due to multiple guests using the hot water at the same time. Service and staff were friendly and very polite. There is a bistro and gaming room on the premises, the bistro has a very good selection of food that is well priced and the meals were of a high standard. Breakfast was served to our room and was nice, two eggs, two toasts and a decent amount of bacon. All in all this is a decent place to stay that won't break the bank. Close to town so getting around was easy.

$30 for a plate of frozen seafood. Absolutely horrendous. Less chips than a small mcdonalds. How can you honestly charge $30 for this. One star isn't low enough. Riverside hotel has gone down hill big time

The pub food is delicious as the amount is big and the price is reasonable. Service is excellent. I like the system where they give you free garlic bread for every time you use the me&u system. You can also bring unfinished food back to the room you are staying in (has to be in the hotel) and room service will bring it back to the pub the next morning. Honestly I would really recommend this place.

Went there for a quiet lunch, the service from the girls and the quality of the food was excellent.

The food is good, standard pub meals. The steaks are tasty but sometimes overdone. I have enjoyed using the me&u app as you can choose, order and pay for all food and drinks on your phone. Plus there is a free garlic bread for ordering via the app. 😁

Meals were lovely, but the staff…. Wow! Talk about rude! From the moment we walked in, the girl clearly did not want to be there. She made us feel like we were such an inconvenience to her day. We had just sat down when she came to take our order. We asked if she could come back in 10min, she actually eye rolled us as she walked off. My 5yo sons cheeseburger was unfortunately burnt, and when I spoke her to about it she said ‘it’s chargrilled! That’s how they cook their burgers!’ Then stormed off. (It wasn’t chargrilled, it was burnt) So apart from the rude service, our party of 14 all enjoyed our meals

When staying in Launceston we generally like to plan a visit to the riverside hotel for a meal. What has happened to the service there?? Very bad. Staff seem rude and abrupt. When seated we were asked to order using the barcode provided on tables. We do not like this option as it just doesn't feel secure. However, after being asked to use this option I noticed two tables next to us were receiving sit down table service. How is it that you ask people to use barcodes provided but then offer table service?? 🤔 do we need to request table service? We would much prefer this option after all it is personal choice right? Another thing which really stood out was how friendly and helpful the wait staff were to these tables who were ordering from a menu! Something screams favouritism here with the locals perhaps?? When my chicken schnitzel arrived it was tough and chewy. Nobody cleared the plates or asked how our meals were. Very disappointing and we will be giving this place a miss from now on. It was a great place 12 months ago and friendly staff. That is not the case.

Time and time again we have given this place a chance, being local. Tonight I had a roast meal, meat was cold and dry, soggy cauliflower and microwave vegetables, all other guest at the table were served cold chips with their meals. Enough is enough, from long, long waits, dirty cutlery to plastic in our food, we've had it all. Either we have consistently been here on their "bad days" or the 5 star reviewers are on crack. Do yourself a favor and avoid at all costs.

$30 seafood basket was all frozen packaged garbage from no frills, with maybe 12 chips. Plus rude waiters: I do not recommend at all.

Dined here tonight. We didn't have a booking so were told when we arrived there may be a wait for our meals (which we didn't mind) however we found service was quick and very friendly. Meals were lovely and very reasonably priced - will definitely return

Digital Reservation made for 8 people for a 7:30pm start (morning of 26th),Staff member rang and re-confirmed our booking at 7:15pm, advised them we were leaving now and would be 10 minutes late due to unforeseen circumstances, advised all good… Arrive at 7:40 to hear chef complaining about our arrival and “ hope they don’t want steaks because I turned the grill off 10 minutes ago”. Seated and chef still ranting and looking at us from the kitchen….. Waitress advised that no steaks will be available in line with chefs rant!!! Asked why 8pm advertised service was not being upheld, only reply available was Sorry!!! So our group of 8 potential customers left and this establishment lost out on a good chunk of money as we all like a good feed and beverages…. We ended being welcomed at A lovely Italian Restaurant on Wellington Street, where the staff were exceptional, attentive and made us feel welcomed!! Food was awesome!!!

Chicken was ok. Steak was over cooked. The ladies looked as though they didn't want to be there. My mum didn't finish her meal as everyone's plates were removed before she had finished eating. Drinks were thrown on the table and spilt everywhere and not offered a cloth we had to clean it up with our serviettes.

Great value accommodation. Clean, comfortable rooms. We had dinner at the pub and all of us enjoyed our meal, standard pub fare menu. I had read several reviews about people experiencing noise at the accommodation. I am pleased to say that wasn't our experience at all.

We dined last night and could not have been happier with the menu choice, pricing, table service and meals. Well done Riverside! Good food, Good service.

Average pub food. Nothing outstanding but ok I guess. A lot of deep-fried options and not many healthy options. Salad was a few wilted green leaves which was not entirely appetising. Had students with me. Mixed responses from them. Some ate most of their meal others did not. Chicken in the burger, Parmi and schnitzel were on the dry side.

Lunch here was wonderful. The staff were great and the meals couldn't be faulted. They have great Seniors Meals which is what we had at a great price. Definitely recommend calling in there 👌.

We arrived for lunch without a booking. Despite being quite busy, the staff were friendly and accommodating. We ordered using the QR code system, which was simple and easy to use (and we received a free garlic bread for using this ordering method). The meals were great! Good pub meals and reasonably priced. The staff were all lovely and our waitess, Karina, was fantastic! Thanks so much😊

We came for dinner with our 4 children, AMAZING food, AMAZING service from the ladies there however I found the old man (can't remember his name) a little bit rude not sure if it was because it was busy but hecould have used his manners while serving and not been so cranky, he also needs to re think how to make his cocktails, I ordered a sex on the beach and I swear it was all ice and orange juice I don't think there was no vodka at all in there however apart from that amazing service and we didn't have to wait long at all for our food especially with it being so busy 😀

Delicious food and excellent service. The meal portions were extremely generous and the prices are extremely budget friendly. They have lots of appetising specials on the board too which are highly recommended.

Been a regular weekly customer for five years. Recent changes no table service cannot charge drinks to table which means using cards for every transaction rather than one payment. Bar service very slow as staff trying to cater for keno and other tasks. Customer demographic is generally older so no customer consideration here.

To start with the meals we’re good, but to be told by one staff member to hurry up an order as we were already 15 mins late. This was at 6.45 and our booking was for 6.30, then she came to our table and gave us a lecture on our to make our booking next year. (A group of friends have been meeting there every year on the first Tuesday of Dec for annual catch-up for approx 25 years) according to this young lass you must have to order your meal as soon as you walk in……Must say we all felt disrespected

Upon arriving we asked about a table for 8 people to be told a 45min wait in a barely 1/3rd full restaurant from a rude waitress. We used the app to order food and drinks to which we waited 20mins to get 4 out of 8 drinks (apparently a printing problem) poor bloke behind bar wasn't getting any support. As for the food the porterhouse if that what it was, was cold tough as nails and cremated on outside it was close to medium rare plus the chips were cold. The ribs my wife ordered definitely didn't go by the picture on the app coz she never got wedges, coleslaw or corn. Overall gave a 3 star as venue was ok but as for the staff the lady was rude but bar man was flustered from obviously no help.

Outdated menu with very little/no thought to vegetarians. Still back in the days when vegetarians are offered some lettuce/tomatoes/grated carrot as an option instead of an actual meal- would be very eye opening for interstate visitors who don’t have this problem interstate. If you ask for the vegetarian menu the staff look at you like they wish you would disappear. The staff appear to dislike children and speak badly to both parents and children who are using the playground- this is through observation of the way they interacted with multiple families- the children were not disrupting anyone in my opinion and their parents were parenting them appropriately. Very disappointed and have been multiple times because of convenience and hoping for change but it’s always staff who go out of their way to be rude- I have actually not encountered this level of rudeness in hospitality before. I will also say my office has been there for work functions and had the same experience the last few times and have decided that we will no longer be going back. Very disappointing as it’s in such a convenient location.

Perfect place to stop. Rooms are clean as pictured online. Great beds, shower is a bit meh but enough to get you clean. Smart tv in room with Stan, Netflix etc. The meals in the pub are great and not too expensive. Pub is clean with plenty of seating. Staff are lovely and willing to help. Staff showed they were great with kids too. Enough parking but can fill fast as seen around dinner time. Free wifi for guests. Kids have there own little play area inside the bistro. Kids meals are well portioned. Woolies is 2 mins down the road and town is only about 10 mins both by car.

It's newly renovated, the rooms have everything you need and it's clean, comfortable and even comes with free Netflix! What's not to love.

Nice venue if you like gambling. Waiting Staff were very rude. So it started on a negative note. Food was quite nice and typical pub fare. Snitzels etc.

I came in recently on a rare trip to Launceston from Hobart. It is very family friendly with the excellent play area. My young son has a severe allergy to egg. Upon questioning if there was anything on the kids menu that was egg free, we discovered none of it was safe for him to have. The chef offered to cook him anything from the main menu as a kids meal, and he chose the grilled fish which he loved. Such amazing service. My chicken parmy was delicious also. We will definitely come back.
