Only 5 minutes drive from the city centre of Launceston is a 30 minute round trip easy walk to Sentinel Lookout, overlooking Cataract Gorge between Second and Third Basins. The walker may optionally do longer walks if they wish.

Fabulous lookout over the gorge and surrounding mountains. Platform itself is grated so you can walk out to the edge and get a good view. Edge of the platform is about 50m up for those who are scared of heights however. Certainly worth a look if you heading along the trail to the Cateract Gorge / Power Station

Such a beautiful lookout, definitely worth the short walk from the cataract gorge!

Our 3yo loved the walk from the suspension bridge as the terrain was very interesting. She even trooped up the last 90m with the promise of an amazing viewing platform - which it absolutely was. (Our 10mth old didn't care).

Great long bush walk along the revived valley up to the look out. The last hundred metres or so the track is very steep but this shouldn’t put you off!

Stunning when we got there but scary especially if you look down. We only had 30 mins to do up and back and enjoy. The pressure was on.

Yeah, I’ll say it’s ok. I’m an medium-Level experienced hiker, and came down from the mainland for the day to hike and explore. Sign from the bridge said 50 minutes return. For the beginner it’s doable in half. When you get there, it’s a big valley, not much water flow or scenic separation. I think there were a few better hikes and trails around the area, which I enjoyed more.
