My son essentially asks to eat here every day! We are so fortunate to live a short walk down the road from this gem! Not only is it a super fun spot to bring our son to in all seasons, but all the food has been wonderful! There are so many great options whether you are craving some delicious fried food, burgers, or even something like a soup and salad. Can't complain about the ice cream selection either!

The new owners of the Hook have made some amazing improvements!! First, the menu - the selection is great for the venue. Exactly what you would expect, but higher quality food and great selection. Some of it is locally sourced too. Second - the staff is always so friendly and willing to help. Third - the technology & POS system is state of the art with pagers and digital screens. Fourth - the atmosphere is SO cool! There are multiple options for seating...inside, window seating, picnic tables, rockers, benches and even some grounded boats! It's a theme-like setting with great tunes throughout. The new Hook is the regular spot if you are local. If you are traveling, it's the new destination!

Update: revising rating down from 5 to 2 stars. Why? I've arrived four separate times over the last 3 months to find them closed when their own website says they're open, only to find a small note on the door saying they're closed. I usually travel from a little over 30 minutes away, so that's a total of 4 hours wasted. Never again. If you do happen to catch them open when they're supposed to be open the food good with a relaxing atmosphere + outdoor seating, albeit expensive.

It is summer and they are open every day, all day! Yay!! Great place to eat, get ice cream, sit in the rockers by the water and just check out their set up there. Most workers are young and so sweet and pleasant. I live within walking distance, yikes! Lovely place!

Pretty good lobster rolls both hot and cold. The bun is a sweet brioche and toasted with a little bit of a crisp on the outside. The hot roll had melted butter to flavor the lobster and the cold had mayo and celery. Coleslaw could have been better in seasoning. It was pretty bland. Regular and sweet potato fries were nicely crispy outsides with soft insides.

Great place directly located at the lake. Food was tasty ... and quite sizeable meals. The Chili Cheese Fries were my personal favourite

Food was pretty good ( a little pricey, that's the only reason it's not 5⭐, and the fish fry could have been cooked a bit longer, the breading got soggy). Good size portions. Very fresh! Coleslaw and fries were the best parts ( not pictured). But THE VIEW is unbeatable! Will probably be back to try some of their other dishes!

I really love this place. Great ice cream, amazing views and very nice people. This is one of my favorite places in the UV. You can go at any season of the year and you will enjoy it. My recommendations are: hamburgers and hot dogs with the coleslaw (btw, the best coleslaw I've ever tried). They also have some offers for the Instagram followers, so if you want to save some money, just check their Instagram account.

Great restaurant, lovely staff, and the BEST french fries I've had in my life!! (Couple that with their delicious ice cream and the view at the lake and you get a perfect place to enjoy your lunch!)

The fried clams had way too much batter on them and weren't cooked all the way. It was disappointing for the cost of them. The onion rings were way to large a cut to be enjoyable as well. It used to be a great place to eat. Hopefully it will again soon. Important to note, the girl at the counter was wonderful & the ice cream is really good.

What a wonderful little discovery! We were on our way home and stopped for lunch at this tiny looking Mascoma Lake restaurant. Yes, there is a walk up window for ice cream, but hidden on the inside is a cute little restaurant with both a lakeside dining porch and picnic tables and an enclosed dining area. The menu included salads, burgers and sandwiches- very extensive for what looked like a roadside hot dog stand! The food was freshly made and delicious. My hubby had a shake with lunch and I enjoyed a fruity sorbet foe dessert. The one thing they did not have was table service. Not an inconvenience for us as we weren't expecting tables at all!

We live on Mascoma Lake, so we appreciate the convenience of the Baited Hook - and can get there by car or boat - the latter being an extra special treat for our granddaughters (and me!). The ice cream quality and selection is tops. My go-to menu item is the 603 Burger - and I prefer the sweet potato fries to the regular. We also like the fish tacos. It's not a cheap meal, but we are rarely disappointed. We are fortunate to have at least one restaurant on the lake, so please go there often so they can thrive! Oh, and they have the friendliest staff in the Upper Valley!

First time visit. I went in and was greeted by incredibly friendly staff. I asked for a recommendation and ended up going with the recommended chicken sandwich. It was delicious..Beautiful views of the lake with a nice breeze coming in through the windows. I'll be back with the family next time.

Always a pleasure going here. Staff is super friendly, food is excellent, and atmosphere can't be beat. And there's ice cream! What's not to love😊

I took a busload of senior citizens on a hike to Smith Pond. After 4 miles in and out, our adventurous group was ready for a filling lunch. I contacted The Baited Hook well beforehand to see if they could accommodate our large group, and the response from Dawn was swift and positive. Once we arrived, everyone's orders were placed quickly and efficiently. When the food arrived, I heard only good things - particularly notable from a group who has lived long enough to speak their minds without any filter. To top things off, the restaurant's site is sublime. Perched on the shoreline of a glassy Mascoma Lake reflecting the beginnings of the fall colors for which New England is so revered, we couldn't have asked for better. We're looking forward to our next visit.

So cool that you can boat to this restaurant! The food was really good - probably the best stripped clams we've tasted. The onion rings were amazing. The staff was very friendly and informative. We'll be back to enjoy this place again - by land and by water!
