Lovely place to visit any time of year. The lilac trees are beautiful and so many different walks to choose from. Absolutely worth a visit. Watched a mama duck with her 15 chick's playing in the lake. Beautiful.

1st time here in a while. The car park is a little small so was full when we arrived. We did park on the main road as did a few others. We had a nice walk around with our dog. We were going to call at the cafe but it was very busy. Overall a nice morning out.

First proper visit and a good chance to see the park on a lovely sunny day. Marvellous Park with lots of variety. Woodland, wide open spaces to picnic or play, a lovely lake and a traditional garden with cafe and kiosk. Cafe was sectioned off for covid so you couldn't see what was available without entering the area. It was open but there was no indication of what they sold! Meals? Sandwiches? Never found out. Could do with a menu board outside. Garden was unusual without the expected floral displays more a low maintenance rock plants. Still very pleasant. Car parking available at several locations. Certainly worth a good walk round the whole park. Nice to see a sectioned off nature reserve that you could enter which is beautifully peaceful with only birdsong as a soundtrack. Very pleasant afternoon. Lot of people but the scale of the park meant everyone had their own space

A nice free park. Lots of birds if you visit at the right times. Even seen a fleeing deer once! Can be a bit busy, which spoils it somewhat. Cafe is good but expensive. Car parks can be busy - make sure you know where both of them are at peak time, you'll need to know. Please don't feed the squirrels. They are a pest and attack other animals and small birds for food. There's some very tame small birds here that'll love your offerings more. Certainly, don't hand feed the squirrels! They hang around with rats. Do you really want your children covered in rat faeces?!

We've been going here for years now. Lovely park that's bigger than you think. Lots of different areas to explore. A great place to visit in any season. Nice cafe on site too. It's sometimes difficult to find parking though.

I love this place. So many quieter areas to walk the dog in peace. Beautiful flowers everywhere you look. Good parking options with an ice cream van. A big pond with ducks, restrooms, plenty of benches. And the cafe is fantastic with great food.

Good for walks , some uneven footpaths but just tread with caution if weather has been wet. Free parking. Ice cream van on site. Beautiful garden area . Plenty of seating.

It was truly amazing. I went around evening when the sun was almost there, captured a few good pictures of the sunset, the flowers and trees. It was a peaceful walk, it got dark, took a while to figure the route to the car park in the dark, there are 2 car parks on either end. But it felt like an adventure trying to find my way back. Would definitely recommend going here for a solo walk or a dog walk.

Superb green space which is free to access, as is the car park. The park offers something for everyone with loads of differing routes through various terrains and nature reserves. Ponds and waterways, wildlife and waterfowl. Public loos. Ice cream van in free car park. Also ice cream kiosk behind café. Good little café with outdoor seating on the sun terrace. Dogs OK outside but not inside café. Dogs welcome in most parts, but not in the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust reserve, as it is a fragile ecosystem and is for wildlife, not free range designer pugs. (See other review.) Music events are held here too. Impressive lilac collection. Cherry orchard and heather garden. Wildflower meadow, arboretum and woodland garden. Plenty of seats and benches. The established rhododendrons and bluebells are pretty magnificent at the moment. Looks like an artist's palette with splodges of colour splurged all around, joyful and uplifting. Spent quite some time watching a mother moorhen determinedly steaming across the lake to retrieve bread and then, equally as single-mindedly, steaming back to her brace of chicks to feed them with it. Father moorhen just nicked some of it off his chicks. So off she went for more. The paths are varied in suitability but many are wheelchair and pram friendly. Just behind the café next to the ice cream kiosk there is a place you can hire disability scooters. Very popular place, this park, and for good reasons. Highly recommended.

What a beautiful place to stroll. Wonder into the top park for a bit more of a woodland feel. Lucky to see it with snow on the ground.

Living in Leeds and driven past the Golden Acre Park it was about time a visit was undertaken. On a dull day in November we arrived in one of the free car parks off Otley Road to start our little adventure. Well sign posted information boards right from the start we took the walk around the perimeter about a 40 minute stroll. Well maintained pathways all the way round. Plenty of dog walkers and a few bird enthusiasts about. Walking to the bottom of the large lake then into a wooded area then back onto the right hand path that leads up to the cafe. Oh go on then a quick coffee then we took the reverse walk back. It’s fair to say we should have done this 2-3 weeks beforehand when the trees would have been in full autumn colours. There’s plenty of wildlife to be seen more so the grey squirrels… I’m now informed that they are invasive creatures … now saying that the ones we encountered where not timid but will come up to you which is quite cute m, but others may disagree. There’s also a small section of miniature railway that’s left surprisingly just about intact near the cafe … although I didn’t know one existed here, it’s a shame it only last a few years in the 1930s. If you look the video up it’s very very popular back in its day…. Yes if by some miracle it was ever brought back what a attraction to promote the park. On our return we noted a one mile walk through a section of woodland Adel Dam nature reserve that’s also a nice woodland walk although it’s not paved so November time places can be a bit muddy but it’s do able. Bird watching hides and water features wooden bridges and information boards everywhere. So I’m impressed next visit springtime and Autumn when the leafs are turning Well recommended. Come on Leeds City Council where’s the government grant or lottery grant to reinstate that miniature railway. !!!!

The most peaceful and beautiful park I've been to. A great place for a casual walk or even a picnic, there are also plenty of parking spots.

Beautiful landscapes here. Exotic, vibrant flowers and wonderful lakes. You can feed wildlife (ducks, swans, squirrels) by hand because they are so friendly. Great place to walk dogs or for a family day out with children! Pros: - beautiful landscapes - friendly wildlife - café onsite (with vegan options) - free toilet facilities - pretty accessible for wheelchair users/prams (as long as you stay on the path) Cons: - café can be expensive - toilets are not always the cleanest - trips are weather dependant as you can expect to get very muddy when it’s rained

Really great place to go relax walk the dog get away from the rat race. Very well kept gardens, aincient woods and a lake. It also holds more memorial seats than I have ever seen before which shows how popular Golden Acre Park has been for generations. It has a lovely little café for refreshments here you can sit inside if the weather is poor. There are toilets there next to the cafe on the lower path.

I have just visited this park because a friend had recommended that and I really think it is one of the great parks in Leeds. It is so big and the lake is very large and it is full of different birds. I really enjoyed the walk, it was really peaceful. It is also suitable for riding.

Had a little trip out with some members of my rehabilitation clients,it's my first time here and was pleasantly surprised by the beautiful tranquil surroundings in which the park is situated in . lovely scenery and well kept and maintained areas with lots to see along the nature trail. Refreshments for adults and children whether by the Ice cream vendor or a nice equipped cafe. Overall a pleasant afternoon walk and totally free is worth a visit for all people from walker's to photographers.very enjoyable.

Another nice open space not far from Leeds City centre. Abel and Eccup reservoirs are very nearby. Mandarin ducks on the lake and kites in the sky

Lovely walk but can be very popular with people so beware parking can be at a premium. Grounds are Lovely and usually well kept but poor weather has made paths really tough going as so muddy

Stunning park, had a picnic on the grass right next to the lake. There's plenty of picnic tables and benches dotted around the place. And a nice little cafe with restrooms. Highly recommended, especially for families, plenty of ducks to keep the kids entertained. Also a good spot for dog walkers too.

Good for walks, good for children and good for bird watching. Good lake, good trees and 4 times more benches than any other park I have ever been to! Great place to sit and enjoy nature or to get your 10,000 steps in!

Golden acre park is on the outskirts of the Uk's 3rd largest city, Leeds. The place is beautiful and covered with green forests and clean air. It's one of the famous tourist destinations of Leeds and with free entry tickets. The place has a lot of space for parking too.

Lovely park and perfect for walking all time of the year. The cafe is lovely and the staff are so friendly and nice. The only negative feedback is that people have big out of control dogs which are not leads at all times (even on walking trails) when there are signs to keep dogs on lead

Great place to have a nice walk with or without a dog. Wonderful plants and trees so many different species Very friendly and great for all ages. Cafe is very good, nice lake which is a great place to feed the the various ducks Swans etc. The garden at all times of the year are interesting and a pleasure to be able to walk round. Even with todays lack of funds and groundsmen, gardeners those that work there do a grand job.

If going with a wheelchair. Pop in Golden Acre Cafe otherwise it might send you to the other car park. Which is steep with hills to get to the main party of the park. Take a look at the Map of the park as lots of people miss out the large lake and woods and only see the small pond and cafe. Lovely walks, loads of squirrels and birds.

  • 5/5 Peter A. 5 months ago on Google
Very nice park lot’s of seats lots of space for kids to run around. Nice walk round to see the ducks and swans don’t forget the bird food. Nice cafe bit of a wait for food but it was busy on a nice day. Parking could do with with more spaces.

I went there for the first time this week. I am a wheelchair user, we had to leave after having a most enjoyable time, The wheelchair couldn't cope with the gravel paths.

I hadn't been here in years, but took my 2 year old last week and we had a lovely time! It's such a peaceful place and we managed to see lots of wildlife (butterflies, spiders, ladybirds, beetles, ducks and so many squirrels)! which my 2 year old loved! We stopped at the café for a bite to eat and found it delicious and very well priced, as well as clean. We will definitely be visiting again soon!

Lovely park but the usual problem of the cafe working a a snails pace, like 20 mins wait for take away coffee. It's time they sorted this out in peak periods. Bring at Thermos and a Alice of cake to keeps the kids happy.
