Good solid business hotel. Nice place to stay when on business in Leeds. Rooms are very clean and much more spacious compared to the ones in the middle of the city center. If you can cope with a 6 minute walk to the centre then it's ideal. The hotel bar could do with being open a little bit longer.

Only a 8-10min walk from the city centre, the hotel is in a great location. The staff are friendly, prices reasonable and the hotel itself has all the facilities one could ask for. I’ve stayed here at least ten times and always a positive experience.

The lobby and bar is nice and the customer service is very good. I am afraid that's were is stops. You walk along corridors which I felt I should be wearing flares the deco is so bad. Then into the room. It looks like something from the shinning. Very tired room and tv did not work twice I would not stay here again at that price

Stayed here for 3 nights. Every staff member that I met during my stay were fantastic and always smiling. The lovely lady on the desk really stood out. I didn't catch her name but her badge said training. This lady was so friendly and one of the best attitudes I've came across in hotels. Staff really do go out of there way to make sure every guest is looked after. I will be returning in January, July and September and I wouldn't stay anywhere else in Leeds.

Rooms are a decent size and the service from the staff is friendly and efficient. There is a underground car park on site. Bed was comfy and breakfast was tasty with a fair selection. The rooms however are quite dated, and not air conditioned so I had a room next to the main road meaning it was noisy at night as the window had to be kept open to keep it cool. I would recommend you request a high floor or room on other side to the road.

Stayed here as part of a business trip for two weeks. One of the best hotel experiences I've had. Any request was met within minutes, the rooms were great and the breakfast was stocked. The staff however are the real testament to the hotel. I was looked after very well by Charis , Charlotte and Tristan on reception to name a few, and grace was always bright and welcoming during the breakfast runs. The hotel in general was lovely but the staff make it what it us. Highly recommend a stay here and looking forward to staying again later In the year.

Overall a good hotel with friendly staff, spacious, clean and comfortable room. I had booked the most expensive Executive Super King room as a treat for my wife. This was advertised as having a power shower in the bath. There was no power in the shower at all and was very basic and I invite you to try it out for yourself to verify that. We decided to have in-room dining on the first night. I had checked out the menu at the time of booking and it had beer battered fish and chips. I actually sent an email to the hotel several days in advance to ask if they could do the fish for us in non-alcoholic batter. The hotel responded to say they could do so. I made this specific request at the time of ordering the meal. However little did I know that the chef lacked experience in this as he probably was used to applying ready made beer batter to the fish as do some other hotels and didn't know how to make non-alcoholic batter. The meal was a disaster. There was no taste in the cod, coating was soft and soggy and tartar sauce tasted totally foreign. It was an extremely costly and disappointing experience and spoilt our stay and mood. As stated in many of the previous reviews I agree that parking is very expensive at £12 charged per overnight stay and not per 24 hours stay. So despite not having stayed for full 2 days i was charged £24. This is clearly a money making scheme at the expense of guests who choose to stay at the hotel.

Been staying in the Clayton for 4 years to travel to Leeds United matches and have always enjoyed it. Fantastic staff and atmosphere as lots of Leeds fans in the hotel and bar. Great food and drink in the bar and welcoming staff. Good walking distance from the stadium and into city centre

Great hotel stay! All 8 of the guest I booked for thoroughly enjoyed their stay including myself. Breakfast offering was varied and fresh, great value for money, looked forward to it on the second morning! Room and bathroom were very clean, staff were polite and helpful. Bedroom doors were quite heavy due to being I assume fire doors, understandable but still quite heavy. Didn’t get a chance to use the gym but would plan to next time. Good room layout with plenty of mirrors and large desk.

What a lovely two day break we have just had. Rooms and public areas of this hotel were spotless. Every member of staff that we encountered were lovely and so friendly. Fridays is POETS day and all drinks from 4 till 8 were 30% cheaper!!! We had food in the bar area and it was all very nice and reasonably priced. If I had any complaint it would have been the car park charges for hotel guests - really think some discount should be offered £24 for 2 days is a bit much Overall, lovely stay

Everything about our stay at The Clayton Hotel (Leeds) was really good. Our room was large, comfy and spotlessly clean. The Bar and Restaurant, was very good and reasonably priced. However the best thing about the Hotel is the staff, whether from the office, to reception, to bar, all absolutely fantastic. The hotel is situated just a short walk from the Station & close to the City Centre. We will definitely stay again. Finally the price for 2 people was a unbelievable price of £88

Overall it’s okay, I likely won’t stay again because it wasn’t worth the price they charge, but it was fine. Pros: - decent sized room - felt safe - clean Cons: - pricey - aged decor - the worst breakfast mushrooms I have ever tasted in my life and I love mushrooms, veggie sausages were also inedible, the breakfast in general is absolutely not worth the money if you’re veggie/vegan

We would highly recommend this hotel. We stayed in an executive suite, tastefully decorated, spacious and exceptionally clean. The staff were all so lovely. Special mention to Phoenix, welcoming, friendly with the most gorgeous nails. The staff in the Inkwell bar were great, one of them (sorry didn’t get their name) even helped my husband with a handful of drinks by opening doors, calling the lift and pressing the floor number. Thank you for a perfect stay, we will definitely be back

We booked 2 rooms and they were of a very high standard. Rooms were spotless and beds very comfy a big shout out to the house keepers who rarely get mentioned. The receptionist was excellent and nothing was to much trouble for her. Breakfast was amazing and again the staff were excellent. Parking at the hotel was another bonus and had plenty of spaces. Cannot recommend this hotel enough for value for money, Location and superb staff. Thank you we will definitely be returning.

Stayed here on and off across several weeks. In general it's a large and very smart looking hotel, with a very fancy interior foyer and social area. Car park is underground. The hotel is in a good location for bus routes, not too close to the city centre or railway station, and nice and quiet despite neighbouring a large residential area. The staff were uniformly lovely, helpful and very attentive. I stayed in a different room each time and this is where I was a little let down. The rooms are very spacious, have nice views, and are very clean, but a huge issue that can't be overlooked is the lack of air-conditioning. Given not all windows have great circulation, and the simple fact that summers in the UK are now unbearably hot for significant periods every year, this seriously impacts the level of comfort to be experienced. Each room contains a plug in fan, which is a saving grace, but I honestly can't see this helping much in 40°C or whatever insane temperatures we'll experience in the future. I know AC is very expensive to install and maintain but since every other hotel in Leeds I've stayed in has it, and considering how necessary it is to be comfortable in places designed for comfort, it's a huge minus on the overall experience. Another problem is the regulation of the shower temperatures. Every time I used the shower, at whatever time of day, and at full power, the temperature would randomly shift to extremely cold or extremely hot, usually both, even if I don't touch the thermostat. I use bathing and washing as a reflective, peaceful time and I found it virtually impossible to be comfortable when using it. For one week I was given a disabled access room and the shower here, while still exhibiting the random oscillations, at least seemed to function properly, so I can't understand what the issue is with the non-disabled rooms. Finally, and this is a minor gripe, there were no plug sockets beside the beds in any rooms I stayed in. This meant I had to leave my phone on charge on the other side of the room every night. I'll admit it helped make me wake up better to switch my alarm off but it just felt more of an inconvenience.

The rooms are lacking in basic things found in most hotel rooms such as shampoo, conditioner and Kleenex. There weren't any washcloths either. The furniture is old and showing its age with scratches, dings and nicks to surfaces. The desk staff were friendly and helpful. It wasn't an unpleasant experience staying at this hotel, but it wasn't exactly pleasant either. It was clean enough and if you are looking for a decent budget place to stay, then the Clayton Hotel will work nicely for you.

Location fantastic for our recent trip to Leeds arena. Just off the motorway and there it is. Nice walk to the arena and into the town the next day. Lovely staff, room was beautiful, clean and room service was fantastic. Many thanks all, will definitely use this hotel again if we visit Leeds again.

I stayed at the Clayton Hotel in Leeds for two nights in October, for which we paid approximately £400-£500. The primary reason for choosing this hotel was its location. Upon arrival in the evening, we decided to have dinner and drinks at the hotel's restaurant, as was tired from the long drive and wanted and early night but I must say it turned out to be a delightful experience. The food was delicious, and the ambiance was pleasant. One of the highlights of our stay was the breakfast buffet, which was truly impressive. It was a grand affair with an abundance of options to suit every taste. The seating area was vast and accommodating, providing ample space for guests to enjoy their meals comfortably. I was particularly pleased to see that the hotel catered to gluten allergies. They also had a delightful selection of fruit juices, flavoured water, and a wide range of hot beverages to choose from. It was truly a breakfast extravaganza! Additionally, the hotel boasts a lovely library for those who appreciate a good read. As a book lover myself, I was thrilled to discover this cozy space filled with books, providing a peaceful retreat where I could relax and indulge in some literary escapism. It was a delightful addition to the hotel's amenities and added a touch of charm to the overall experience. In terms of the room, I found the beds to be incredibly comfortable. The blackout curtains ensured that the room stayed dark, contributing to an amazing sleep experience. As someone who values a good night's rest, I was truly appreciative of the quality of sleep I was able to enjoy during my stay. I really needed that! It's important to note that parking at the Clayton Hotel is not complimentary. Guests are required to obtain a parking ticket from the machine located at the reception and pay upon departure. While this aspect could be improved, as I believe parking should ideally be provided free of charge for hotel guests, it's something to keep in mind when considering your stay. However, I must mention that I found the hotel's gym to be somewhat dated. The equipment seemed a bit worn, and the overall atmosphere didn't inspire me to engage in a workout session. This could be an area for improvement, as a well-maintained and modern gym would greatly enhance the hotel's appeal to fitness-conscious guests like me. Lastly, I found the reception staff to be a bit inattentive, which was a disappointment.

Hotel was fairly standard, room decent size but a little dated and shower was broken and not great pressure. It was clean, however, and had everything I needed. Food was great and reasonable price, and breakfast was included and good selection and quality. Very affordable and competitive locally so would happily stay again!

We stayed in Clayton Hotel Leeds for 2 nights. The check-in staff was very nice and helpful, telling us the main tourist attraction as well as the City light festival was in town. The room was spacious and tidy. Responsive for housekeeping. The only shortcoming was the road work around the hotel which took us some time in finding the entrance of the hotel. Generally a decent experience.

I have been to Clayton hotel more than 4 times within 4 months though I am in the same city. The place is so amazing and you will feel like you have no problem in life if you get there. Sometimes when I become very stress for a long period, I just book a room and go relax. Clayton is the best and to me it’s 10 stars hotel. Anyone who won’t like Clayton hotel is probably new to good things.

Lovely hotel, friendly staff. The hotel bar is lovely & the happy hour 4pm till 8pm is fab. The rooms have everything you could possibly need, ironing board & iron, hairdryer, tea & coffee facilities (a biscuit would have been nice) comfy beds. My only complaint would be that where the hotel is situated its near to a busy road but more where our room was situated (1st floor room 141) we were kept awake by traffic noise & people talking or arguing outside. I would imagine higher up or the other side of the hotel you wouldn't experience this. It took us around 20 minutes to walk into the centre of Leeds & the train station . I thought the carpark was free for hotel guests but its £12 a night, which is good for 24hr parking in a city

  • 4/5 Lynsey F. 1 year ago on Google
This hotel is situated within a fairly short walk from the train station and city centre. There is a bar and restaurant within the hotel and a good room service menu. The staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel itself is a getting a little dated and they have a 12pm checkout and 2pm guaranteed check in. I think this may have a detrimental affect on the cleanliness as I did see some slight flaws and the room I was in had that old smell. Plenty sockets in the room but none near the beds. The room was a good size with comfy beds, the bathroom had that blocked drain smell and the shower was cold on the first morning but good pressure. The sound proofing was lacking and not the hotels fault but people were definitely smoking inside at times. Obviously I only seen one room, there may be better ones but throughout the hotel it looks like it needs a little freshen. It done the job for visiting Leeds and round about on a busy weekend in the city.

I have been a regular visitor to Clayton’s for the past 9 years. Through this time I have found all staff members very accomplished in their various roles Donna on reservations and Andrew Tate the bar and restaurant manager deserve special mention for their continuous attention to any requests we have. Hotel facilities clean and and in good order. Hotel parking a great asset to the overall package.. Highly recommend

Great place to stay - been here multiple times and their service is excellent, facilities are really good and have always enjoyed my stay here. Room service rates are extortionate but which hotel isn't? Car park underground is a bonus and the buffet at breakfast is always reasonably stocked!

I received this stay as a special gift for Christmas. I was looking forward to this stay ever since; we had a concert the same night and planned on meeting friends at the concert. We checked in to the hotel at around 4:30 and it was confirmed by the receptionist that our room got upgraded from a double room, to a complementary upgrade, including one extra bed. I asked if this “upgrade” would include one extra head in the room free of charge due to the supposed “upgrade” and this was verified by the receptionist, after partaking in the concert and looking forward to going back to the hotel.. we got charged an additional £35 for the “complimentary upgrade”. I felt like I was completely scammed out of the “upgrade” that was supposedly ‘complementary’ and I will not be visiting this hotel again until I receive the benefit from our “complimentary upgrade”.

Hotel was good but parking is limited. Don't think there was much around the area. Breakfast good. They did gave me the disable room which is not great for the open shower and high toilet. I think hotel ask first or now I will check in and ask for non disable room.

I cannot single out a member of staff because they were all so friendly and efficient. Our room was clean, tidy and well stocked with tea/coffee, towels, hair and body shampoos. Breakfast was was well serviced and had everything we could have wanted. We had a lunch on the day we were leaving and that was tasty and just the right portion size. An excellent stay and yes a hotel we will return to.

Nice clean hotel. Service, drinks, food and breakfast was really good, good to see fried bread as part of the breakfast buffet! Only downside for me was, no air conditioning in the room, a bit damp smelling and the TV , seriously, small and old! Other then that comfy bed with a pretty decent bathroom. Would i go again? For the food and service yes not for the room.

  • 3/5 Zoe H. 1 year ago on Google
Bed was comfortable and the room was very clean. Location not too far for a walk into the city for a night out. Found it slightly strange to be told that I hadn't paid at the time of the online booking so had to pay upon arrival which was very awkward for me as I wasn't prepared. Also have never had to pay for parking at a hotel before and felt £12 for the night was rather excessive. We didn't find out until we were already through the barrier. No biscuits!!

  • 5/5 Shruti K. 2 years ago on Google
Stayed here for three nights and would star the staff 10/10 for their hospitality. It is just 10 minute walk from Leeds railway station. Beautiful spacious room with 1 double and 1 twin bed, plenty of drawers, wardrobe space with safe and a large bathroom. Though I quite didn't enjoy the breakfast, but the arrangements were quite decent with limited options. The bar is really cozy and comfortable, well stocked and not much expensive. My first time here and would surely love to stay here again.

Lovely hotel. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Service was amazing staff were polite and go above and beyond to help. Breakfast was amazing with loads of choice and the restaurant was modern n clean. The bar was nice with screens to watch the sports on and an amazing library themed area that looked amazing. My only issue was it was warm at night so with no air conditioning we opened the window n police sirens were that regular it felt like we was in an episode of police interceptors lol. Would definitely return

Was okay. Decent size room with two beds. Beds were really comfortable. No air con in rooms, just a fan, found it too warm. TV was stuck on radio when we arrived and wasn't easy to find a way to get to the TV channels, eventually found a way but not obvious. Location for Leeds centre is reasonable. We had a room on the side away from the road and was quiet at night. Room had shower over bath and the bath is quite narrow so not the easiest and the shower curtain made it feel even narrower. Great that it had parking.

Stayed at this hotel due to a 2 day meeting at work. On first impressions, it looked nice but the location is a bit far out if you're wanting to be in the city centre. In a fairly quiet area and looks clean. Getting up to the rooms is easy enough via the stairs or lift. Entered my room (149) and it looked nice at first glance. I could hear and see rush hour traffic from my window but this was easily silenced by shutting it. As I freshened up to attend my evening meeting, I started to see how unclean the room was. I have worked as a chambermaid in the past and have a good understanding on the expectations. There were stains everywhere. On the carpet, suspect stains on the seat and curtains, mascara flakes/marks on 2 of the mirrors within the room. Once up and dressed the next day, I laid towels down on the seat to sit at the table/mirror and dry my hair. I opened the drawer for the hair dryer and find long grey hair stuck in the back of it. Couldn't be removed without taking the whole thing apart. I decide not to use it. Whilst applying my make up, my beauty sponge slipped out of my hand onto the open wooden wardrobe base. I picked it up and it was thick with dust. I then went down for breakfast, there was no milk for making a cup of tea but there was a good selection of self-serve drinks and food items to choose from. Didn't have time to mention any of my issues until check-out as to be expected with any business travel. Can't say that I would choose this hotel again

First class. Front desk staff quick to check in, very helpful and service with a smile - I like that. Beautifully dressed and couldn't do any more to make our stay perfect. Charlotte even upgraded our room - thank you. Room spotless, bed heavenly. Late breakfast ideal for us and again staff bright and attentive. Definitely book again. Thanks Charlotte and Louise - reception team. Hope this helps. Gayna and Helen.

Nice friendly place and clean rooms. There was free hand wash, body wash but no shampoo. Cheaper hotels provide it so it's a bit disappointing when you pay more and get less. Nice fried breakfast, no hash browns unfortunately but still had a great selection of food and tastes nice.

Hotel is lovely and the deluxe room we stayed in was really nice. Quiet, comfortable bed, nice and clean, no air con but was supplied with a fan We got a 1pm check out time with this room. We tried to order room service which said it was available 24hours but it seemed none of the food on the menu list in our room was available for room service! We missed breakfast as we over slept but was told it finished at 09.30, we found this very early to be finishing breakfast. The staff were friendly and helpful other than the one lady who was working this morning, breakfast didn't come as part of the room booking so we paid for this separately. As we missed breakfast we asked for a refund, £24, this lady said we weren't entitled to it back, we said as this is an extra then yes we are, she went and checked with her manager and we got a refund. 😀 We would go back to this hotel.

Friendly and helpful staff on check in. Stayed with friends in a triple room. Beds were sooo comfortable, the mattress is soo thick. Lovely bathroom. Shower pressure could be better though. Spotlessly clean. Around a 15 minute walk to the centre and train station, which is all flat so doesn't feel that far. £12 secure car parking underneath the hotel is a good bonus. Would definitely stay again.

Great location just on the edge of the centre of Leeds. Plenty of parking spaces in the underground car park with reasonable parking rate. The staff were really friendly. The bar and restaurant were good. The bed was very comfortable and I had a good night sleep. The breakfast was delicious with lots of choice.

We always love to stay at The Clayton Leeds. The staff are very friendly and the last twice we got an upgrade to a bigger room, which was wonderful. It’s very clean and has everything we need. A short walk to the shops, restaurants and bars. We love the parking for £12 a day also. Thank you, Angela and John

Stayed when seeing Leeds United play. The welcome at reception was really friendly, the room comfortable and clean. There was parking available at £12 per night below the hotel and the food we ate was good quality and reasonably priced. There was also a discount in the bar on Friday evening.

Pleasant staff. Very professional. Clean and really good standard. Rooms were very big and had what was needed. Breakfast available for extra money. Easy to find and easy access. Noisy during the night with people going in and out and heavy doors banging. Would stay again as easy access to Leeds

I have to say, I love coming back to the Clayton time and time again, business stay, hotel staff are really friendly, and it was nice touch the the receptionist acknowledged I was a returning guest. The rooms are always fresh, food is really good, except the sausages, normal pork sausage as part of breakfast would be great. Stayed at the Clayton year after year, sometimes two or three times a year on occasions, and I would not go anywhere else. Credit to your staff for making it feel like you are wanted.
