One of the great things about living in Yeadon is the Tarn. Full of wildlife a nice waking and running area for people and dogs. There’s always people fishing and frequently people doing water sports like sailing. There’s a really good play park for the kids right next to it and always an ice cream van about.

The ponds are located at the northern end of Tarnfield park , just off the main footpath around the Tarn itself. There is a sign which indicates a good diversity of Flora and Fauna ,however I get the impression it’s a bit of a neglected area. The footpath leading in next to the sign is ok and wheelchairs accessible but stops at the beautifully carved dragonfly seat .This is as far as I could go as any paths leading off were not maintained and were overgrown.Obviously there has been a lot of growth during the summer and nature really has taken back over .So much so I was unable to go anywhere else and see ponds. I could see some of the pond plants like bullrushes but no discernible ponds. Can be a nice quiet area to sit and contemplate if you can accept the occasional roar of engines as the planes take off/land next door at the airport.

Not a good park. In comparison to other parks, 1 star is fair. The good reviews must be from people who clearly never visited other parks. Too many trash on the ground. Not enough bins. Lake is filled with plastics and lots of people with tents fishing!! Not enough parking spaces. Cars park wherever they want.

Great dryish walk on a wet day. Flat surface and even path, suitable for all. Lots of shrubs, little ponds and interesting wildlife on the small lake here. There can be some big puddles and runoff. If you’re lucky you might see a plane takeoff or landing. 0.8 miles per lap and free car parking.

Fab place to go for a walk, take the dog out, feed the ducks or take the kids to the playground. Toilets are next to the play park, well maintained and beautiful view. Free car park on site too.

A good place for a nice, short walk. There's a playground for the kids. There's usually an ice cream van too. Lots of flora and fauna and birds to see There's a small car park there too. Although beware! Some people seem to park anywhere in it! Not just in the parking spaces provided. We were blocked in one time and had to wait for the owners of the other car to come back. Cue a little verbal altercation. They were aware of what they'd done. Not even an apology.

Been walking around here since I met my wife over 30 years ago, lovely little walk around especially in summer when all the boats are on the Tarn and it's sunny

A pleasant walk around the Tarn. Pick the right time to see planes taking off and landing. Clean and tidy, but absolutely no toilet facilities anywhere near by. Play area is well kept and relatively safe, the playground gate regularly is not shut as the auto closing mechanism is broken.

Very scenic and peaceful until a Boeing 737 takes off a couple of hundred yards away. Open to the elements but public toilets are available and plenty of free parking with wheelchair access. Children's playground too.

Usually known locally as Yeadon Tarn, this is a lake used for recreational sailing and walking, with an adjacent large car park. There's a level path round the perimeter, good for walkers and the odd enthusiastic jogger, and in the summer you'll see dinghy sailing, paddleboarders, model boat enthusiasts and people feeding the swans, geese, ducks and moorhens with bird food bought at a nearby kiosk. Seats are available round the edge, and, stangely, planes can sometimes be seen taking off and landing from the nearby airport.

A great way to spend a couple of hours or more walking around the lake, watching Leeds/Bradford planes take off and land. Feed the ducks/swans. Places to sit down and just take in the view around the lake, in the summer, take a picnic, whats not to love!

Awesome place for fishing, jogging and duck feeding

Great place for a walk and some easy exercise. Yeadon folk use it all the time...anglers flock to fish, people feed the geese and there are plenty of diversions including the regular sight and sound of aeroplanes taking off and landing at nearby Leeds Bradford airport.

Close by Yeadon Airport, you can see planes take off and land. Locals call this Yeadon tarn.walk round it as many times as you want, ducks, swans, geese keep fit ,some fishing can be seen but you need to pay for the day or week. Fresh air.

Lovely flat walk on tarmac paths. Lovely in summer with a park for the kids, a BMX park, ice cream van. In Winter the wind can really bite. Dogs on leads, no cycling allowed around the dam.

My wife Sue pushed me all the way round in our wheelchair, and we enjoyed a 99 cornet, fabulous time, the benches were fantastic to take a rest and watching the world go by, the swans, geese, children learning to canoe, fishermen, and families. Highly recommend 👌

Great for a walk round with the family and/or dogs. Playground for the grandkids. Enjoy an ice cream or maybe fish and chips from the local chippy. Watch the swans and ducks and planes taking off too.

Great place for a winter walk, path all the way round so a mud free stroll. Playground area for children and plenty of ducks to feed.Would give it 5 stars if there was a café.

A lovely refreshing walk , you get to see the aeroplanes taking off , ducks geese and swans the sailing clubs , there's a picnic area and a natural reserve . Information boards on the way round about the animals and wild flowers. Perfect any weather is the path is concrete all the way round . Don't forget your change for an ice cream like I did for after the kiddies have played on the vert well maintained play area ( including a zip wire )

Nice if you want a walk with the kids, see the birds on the Tarn, and maybe see some planes take off and land. Nice little ice cream van . Nice play ground for the kids. See even people fishing and boats on the Tarn.

Always nice to have a walk round Yeadon Tarn, aka Tarnfield Dam & Tarnfield Park. You are likely to see some planes taking off and landing due to Leeds Bradford Airport (LBA) being just round the corner. You will also likely see some anglers from Yeadon angling club camping out. And you're almost guaranteed to see plenty of dog walkers with dogs. All round a good place for a quick walk with a nice playground situated within for children.

Always lovely lots of seating and grass to sit on and watch the kids play football. The park is very well kept too

Lovely park for all ages. The walk round the lake is really nice and relaxing with plenty of places to stop and sit and take in the surroundings. If you have young kids the play area is big and varied with lots to do. We only visited to have a walk but it seems if your want to do some boating they have excellent facilities there.

Nice area for a family walk. Can get busy and parts of the oath are arrow when passing people. One of the few places in Leeds you can play with your own RC boats & hovercraft.

Run round Tarnfield Park several times a week... always beautiful. Might even have a go at kayaking one of these days!

After living in the area all my life it was the first time I'd visited, and yes it was a lovely afternoon.

Beautiful place for a short walk round the tarn, playground for the kids and also you are able to watch landing or setting off the planes from close

Good old fashioned Sunday afternoon out. Great for younger kids, plane spotters and (on the day we visited) sun bathing! The friendly geese appreciated a few crumbs. I knocked one star off because the toilets were shut.

Great walk, if your after a brisk short walk this is great, parking is always relatively good busier as expected on bank holidays and weekends but still usually room to park and it's free. Just don't annoy the anglers.

Nice and clean lots of bins for litter. Nice small walk all flat. Small park perfect for little ones and on site ice cream van.

Great little walk, for dogs on a lead or children. I have been walking both here for the last 13 years. It's usually windy so in cooler months be prepared!

  • 3/5 Lo K. 2 years ago on Google
A lovely place for a good power walk round or a dog walk so long as it isn't too busy. I always advise going during the week if you'd prefer a quieter walk!

July 2022. After watching the planes come and go I took a walk around this nice lake. Quite a few fisherman and ducks around. Public toliets were closed.

Yeadon Tarn has a nice easy walk around it. Plenty of ducks and swans who want feeding and a great place to watch the planes taking off and landing at Leeds Bradford Airport.

Easy circular walk, with some wildlife to look at (feed swans, ducks etc). Well equipped play park for younger children. A great way to spend a few hours with your kids, that doesn't cost anything. Even the parking was free!

Great stop waiting for my wife's plane to land at LB airport its only 5 minutes away

A lively stretch of water with very accessible pathway all the way round, the lake is "naturally landscaped with a large emphasis on ecology. There are many clear and informative signs around. Naming the flora and fauna you will see as you walk. There are always plenty of anglers and there are cleared areas to accommodate. There is a sailing club who are generally quite active which generates interest. Cycling is unfortunately not allowed as the path can be slightly narrow in places. Wheelchair acces & access in general is excellent throughout. Thus making it a very easy and pleasant place to enjoy. There are two large accessible car parks with ample parking spaces. All in all a very simple and pleasant place to enjoy the beauty of Yorkshire. Also a great opportunity to take someone who perhaps doesn't get out much due to being elderly or infirm. Very easy to get to and enjoy. Highly recommended

A great fishing experience. I took my dad out for the day and we were made to feel really welcome with non of the stigma you get at some lakes. Booking was really easy and the bailiff and other fishermen gave us loads of info when we got there.

A lovely little place for a walk with the family. Good paths for those with pushchairs. Has the added thrill for kids to see planes taking off and landing at the airport.

A pleasant walk around the Dam. Level and easily negotiated by wheelchairs and people with other mobility issues. One turn around the perimeter is approximately 15 minutes at a stead walking pace. Plenty of seating located at the side of the foot path for when you need a rest or to simply watch the world go by. The far end of the dam abuts the airport so there are occasional views of planes coming or going depending on the wind direction.
