If you find yourself in Leeds city centre and want lunch, go here. It’s perfect. It’s a small restaurant in the Corn Exchange, a beautiful space with a short but frequently changing menu. I took my daughter & goddaughter there today during a shopping trip. I think between us we had most things on the menu. The fried chicken and triple cooked chips I had were very good, their dill pickles were the best I’ve had in the UK & the plain green salad was the best I’ve had outside of France. Service was friendly, engaging and efficient, food and drinks arrived in good time. I highly recommend this place & can’t wait to come back.

Lovely little place tucked into the Corn Exchange. Not a lot of seats and some of the two tops were quite cozy, but it still felt spacious and light. Small menu but everything looked tasty. I went for the grilled cheese and only wish I'd been hungry enough to get the chips too because those looked amazing as they paraded past to other tables. I loved that every menu item was paired to a recommended wine or beer. All very lovely. Definitely recommend for a quick bite or a leisurely meal.

We were not prepared for how AMAZING this food was. Tried two of the vegan options (the arancini and the potatoes), and were absolutely blown away, some of the best food in Leeds for sure. Also incredibly good value for money, fabulous service and beautiful decor. Can't wait to come back and try the new menu!!

Always the best food, vibes, service and time at Owt. My sister loved her fried tofu baguette and my GF fried chicken ranch salad was incredible. Finally got to try the chicken and it was the best fried chicken in leeds hands down. They have plenty of veggie and vegan options too on their seasonal menus. Always recommend no matter which menu though. Even their drinks selection is top tier. Had some of their amazing wine previously but this time just had a cloudy apple juice which was so nice. Not your averages juices and smoothies! They’re always so fab and lovely, giving the best service too. Obviously the interior is stunning and it’s such a lovely spot to eat even on a boiling summers day! Support your local independents!

We have always loved Owt since they were in the Corn Ex and we’re excited to see what they had done with their new restaurant. It’s so lovely inside and I love how they’ve kept it in theme with the previous restaurant. The food was amazing as always and the gluten free fried chicken noodles were so good I could’ve eaten it again. My friends dishes all tasted so good too, everyone polished their plates. Love the Owt team and the new gaff is so lovely! Well done x

Absolutely delicious, locally sourced food for an affordable price! There's things for meat eaters and vegans alike, with the menu changing weekly. I had the big hash which I really loved, the vegetarian sausage is their own recipe and one of the best. The staff are also lovely and always looking for feedback. Looking forward to seeing more of them! Update: I come here almost every week now. It's never disappointed me! A must visit for foodies in Leeds!

Owt is an absolute gem of a place. Wonderful people, free coffee and truly excellent food for very reasonable prices. Most costly dish is the daily fish, £8 when i had it, but this beat out some main courses I've had for 3x that price at speciality fish restaurants, and I'm not sure what more there is to be said after that! Whether you're a meat eater, a vegan, or somewhere in between, there will always be something to satisfy you. Plus, James and Esther will be more than happy to make any changes they can to suit your needs! Don't be afraid to ask! If you're in need of a filling, great value lunch in Leeds, you'd be hard pressed to do better than Owt.

Had a fried chicken on toast and a ratatouille 2 ways at OWT, with a glass of rosé wine. The food was great and the wine was perfect for such a warm day. We had a lovely server and a great time.

Food was astounding, so fresh and delicious full of flavour. Cooked on the spot. They went and fetched the fish right there and then from the market stall next door. Staff and chefs were so welcoming and accomodating, a hidden gem.

Simple, well executed brunch/lunch in the Corn Exchange. Friendly staff and good quality ingredients. (Picture doesn't do the flavour or size of the sando, their self proclaimed best seller, justice)

I enjoyed a birthday lunch with my family. The menu has something for everyone. Every dish was really tasty and it is obvious that the food has been prepared with great skill to make the most of good local seasonal produce. The ambience is very relaxed and I would highly recommend.

Some of my favourite food in Leeds, one of the first places I recommend and take people when they visit! With a menu that changes regularly, you never have to get the same thing. Great options for veggies and vegans as well which are always super interesting. If you are in the area, definitely check it out!

Absolutely out of this world food. Nice little place with super friendly staff. Had the pan fried salmon with new potatoes and greens, and it was tremendous! Highly recommend.

Possible I won't have Hash Broons this good until the next time I'm in town. Don't sleep on the house ketchup.

WoWoWoWoW! I think I actually heard my tastebuds thank me after having a toasted cheese. Think Homer Simpson drooling level of satisfaction.🤤 The salsa verde should be sold it's so good and unlike brown sauce it's made in the UK 😉

What a place to eat. A hidden gem with an excellent menu. Fresh ingredients, excellent service running the restaurant and vibing atmosphere within the beautiful Leeds Corn Exchange. A good menu is a short one with excellent dishes. I tried Chicken & Gravy, which is a must. Unique flavours and a juicy fried chicken is melting in your mouth. Triple cooked potatoes are on fire. Moreover, the owners respect the other shop owners inside the Leeds Corn Exchange and try not to overla their product offerings. My only comment is that I want to see a small and unique selection of beers. Although I am European and I love wine more, my friends are enjoying more beer. I will be there again soon to try the OWT RAREBIT and CHEESY PLATE.

I've eaten at Owt in Leeds more times than I can count and the food is always amazing. I dropped in this morning as soon as they opened for a coffee and something sweet for breakfast. Great selection of drinks and I had the chocolate chip bread and butter pudding. Yep, for breakfast. As with all Owt's food the flavours and balance of everything was perfect. Melty chocolate, delicious bread, and cream - can't go wrong! The restaurant is bright and airy, the staff are always really friendly and helpful (and no judgement for my strange breakfast choice!) can't wait to go back on a thursday evening when they open later for dinner!

Saw this place was recommended in The Guardian Top 10 Places To Eat in Leeds and yes it certainly deserves its ranking! Staff are attentive and informative and the food-flipping delicious 🤤

What a lovely little place for a light lunch (but you might need to share, as we did, because portions are quite a reasonable size!). Their deep fried chicken was beautifully tender & tasty, chips excellent & winter remoulade lovely. And they present you with a carafe of water when you sit down, I wish more places did.

Yep. No trip to Leeds is complete without a visit to this colourful addition to the Corn Exchange. Seasonal brilliance on the menu with a leaning towards all things potato! Overtly vegan friendly and even had a carefully curated site-wide dried flower display to zero in on the homeliness. Food for all the family and some…

Nice little eatery/café in the Corn Exchange, warm welcoming and tasty dishes, the only disappointment if any is that they had only one meat dish on the menu, fried chicken, then again it was great! I will definitely be back, highly recommended!

This is the PERFECT place to eat for your Leeds day out. Fresh gorgeous meals and fabulous customer centric service. And stunning central location in the corn exchange! I keep meaning to try other things but I was so blown away by the summer salad that I just keep getting the same! Please go here! You won't regret it! 6 stars!!

Owtstanding food, with options for meat eaters, vegans and very conscious of any allergies etc... All food locally sourced. Service was great and the couple working were lovely.

Phenomenal experience. Beautiful setting with the most lovely welcome. The ranch salad is everything you want it to be. Crispy lettuce with the sweetest tomatoes and THE BEST FRIED CHICKEN EVER. The dressing was so perfectly balanced, creamy but not cloying and full of dill and seasoning. 10/10 I can’t wait to come back. Such a special place.

Chickpea tofu with salt and pepper chips, chimichurri & salad. Tasted absolutely class, and some of the friendliest staff ever. A massive hidden gem. New menu every week keeps it interesting as well

Lovely place, the staff are very friendly and welcoming and service is fast. I had the shakshouka which was delicious and a good portion. The coffee is only filter, so no choices but it was decent. The prices were reasonable. I will definitely go there again.

Loved Owt since their days in the market and was so excited to visit their new location in the corn exchange! Beautiful store set up and you can buy bottles of their sauces, tote bags and prints! I ordered the fried chicken and triple cooked chips. Absolutely amazing! The best fried chicken I've ever had and .... no bones! The seasoning on the fries is definitely something I need in a jar at home too! We also had the vegetarian loaded hash browns and split pea fried shallot special. The ingredients, the cooking, the seasoning on the food is all so well done and you can tell so much care, effort and time goes into perfecting their dishes and coming up with their own flavours and recipes. I haven't had food like this anywhere else. The staff are friendly and warm and there's just a great atmosphere. If you do one thing in Leeds visit Owt.

I can't get enough of Owt... Plus they're super allergy conscious, very knowledgeable about how to cater for my coeliac (gluten free) diet which is really reassuring. The food is always incredible - the best kind of comfort food - and the free coffee & warm welcome from James & Esther is the icing on the cake. Can't wait for my next visit 😍

Amazing little eatery - such an inspired and well thought-through menu, and fantastic value too. Such a spot on concept - ultra local, fresh, quality - and delivered to an incredibly high standard. Hope they thrive and continue to spread the love with their food and good cheer. Oh and the desserts are to die for, plus coffee is free with food. Full of gorgeous grub, and watered for under a tenner - j'adore!

Perfect place for a breakfast or a lunch, the food is delicious ! The staff is super nice, the menu changes every week and the products come from the market. Special mention for the grilled cheese sandwich, available all day, and for the tasty cakes!

This place is a revelation...... Fair prices for top quality locally sourced food (everything is sourced from the market itself). In a market stocked with high quality food, its hard to beat a varying seasonal menu that caters for all (vegan & fish dishes available) and delivers on flavour. Once you give it a try you'll be back with your friends time & time again. It's a must for any true foody 👌😋

  • 5/5 Dom B. 4 years ago on Google
I spotted this place after seeing a Guardian review of their (awesome) grilled cheese sandwiches. Every meal I've had there has been amazing, healthy and what's more they support the market by getting their ingredients on site. The staff are lovely too. Do yourself a favour, ditch the bland chain lunch deals and go here instead :)

An up and coming Gem in Leeds, that will likely become a full blown restaurant in a few years. The food is amazing and sourced from stands in the market. You can literally go and see the butchers/stands where all the food you are eating is acquired. Better still the food is market price, so about £5-8 and is as good as food i've paid £30+ in some high end restaurants. In my opinion, this is the best place to eat in Leeds on a budget.

A unique gem in the heart of Leeds Kirkgate Market. Originally stumbled upon when I noticed a vegan sausage roll in the display that wipes the floor with the Greggs version! I've eaten here a number of times since and its been a delicious surprise every time. Everything is homemade and they change the menu weekly, they also offer free coffee while you wait or to enjoy with your food. You couldn't hope for a friendlier couple who are very passionate about what they do and it shows in their food. I look forward to every visit!
