Me and my partner were struggling massively with our rescue pup - 1 year old staff/whippet. I went to paws for thought on Saturday nearly in tears. The team were great. Supported us to get her settled and advised what was best to do this. Four hours after the advise given and products purchased we had one settled pup in a crate with the door open - never did we think we would see the day. Thank you so much to you all for giving us our life back and helping us get our pup settled in her new home so well.

Awesome pet centre. Off York Road in Leeds so really easy to get to and has lots of parking. It is MUCH bigger than it looks. You go in on the upper floor where the birds and small mammals are as well as tanks and cages are sold. Then downstairs are the fish and exotics. They have a brilliant range of animals available and they take GREAT care with their creatures. Unlike some big chains I could mention they actually KNOW how to give advice around what they sell and give accurate advice. Particularly Martin in the reptile section. I've price checked and this is now my pet supply shop of choice. Cannot recommend this shop enough. Buy local or we will lose them.

Have a great selection of shrimps and plants, of course, fishes as well. Worth visiting 👍🏻 Besides that, there are other pets like birds and reptiles. The customer service here is better than the one we visited before, so we always come back for more. Unlike the one in Armley claimed to be the biggest pet store in Leeds and yet, the bad customer service there is so bad. Word spread within my inner circle, and we vowed would not return to that rude Armley aquarium anymore.

Great pet shop, bought a Tortoise that's doing really well. Staff were friendly and helpful. Our go to place for supplies. Big shop with different floors, reptiles and fish downstairs.

I love this place. Fish keepers have this big problem that we spend our lives researching fish keeping because it’s our hobby. We research a new fish for weeks and ask amongst the fish community to gain real world experiences to insure the fish is right for our tank. We then arrive at the fish store hoping to have a nice day only to be told by a teenager who when questioned has never owned a fish, that we can’t have the fish we’ve researched for a month because it’s not compatible. You certainly don’t get that experience here! Im disabled and chronically ill and struggle with the stairs down to the aquariums yet I travel from Halifax to buy fish here because it’s the only place iv been that doesn’t hassle me or dictate my fish purchases. It was clear that they were good people that care for animals, were at hand if advise was needed, they checked I wasn’t brand new to fish keeping then allowed me to choose on my terms and not what a silly incorrect tablet app tells them I can buy. I hope the vibe never changes. Many shops iv seen have closed their tank area but maybe if they’d taken a lesson from this place they’d have more fish keeping customers . I kid you not, one place I went made me fill out a 2 page A4 application form to buy a platy fish! If you are from far away, do try to get over to this place as it’s worth the drive. My one criticism is how hot it is down there. I would have bought more fish than I did but I left as felt I was going to pass out. Staff must be used to it. Really could do with a few fans on down there n if there were then I didn’t feel them.

Always had people in, and lovely greeting from a lad in the shop. Unfortunately for the price of the fishes is reasonable but difficult to know which fish is which fish? Could do with a photo with the price? Seen fishes I haven't see before which is good for us to think about as we want something different. Would come back again to think about the fishes.

Best pet shop in the region. I travel 40 min here for all our pet needs. Staff are super helpful and prices are unbeatable. Variety of pets and their supplies is fantastic.

Took my bird in for claws clipping. He came out traumatised, he suffered terribly with shock, he was shaking, gasping for air and his claw was bleeding so much I thought I was going to lose him. Now he cannot hold onto his perch properly and is still shaky. All the shop assistant told me was apply pressure and cornstarch to his claw. No aftercare or concern. The photo shows just some of his bloodloss on my husband's shirt after my budgie landed on him while we were trying to look after my poor bird.

It's rare to see a pet supply shop that cares not only has the breadth knowledge these guys and gals possess about pet care but that also look after their livestock properly. When they claim to be experts in bird care, unlike most other shops in Leeds, these guys actually mean it. Hats off.

Loved the shop, so many things for any pet needs. The only place around the area I could get a terrapin for my little girl. You will get advice and supplies in one place.

Best store around by a long shot . Bought my first bearded dragon from here donkeys years ago . Call in today as I'm starting to collect Tarantulas and wow John is a great guy very knowledgeable and giving clean water to all the animals . I ended up buying a Salmon pink bird eater and a Indian ornamental great prices and when I got home I even called them bk to leave a deposit on another Tarantula lol 😆

I have been coming over to paws for thought for years. They have a really good selection of tropical fishes and the pricing is good too. There is also a reptile section with frogs snakes tarantulas and even tortoises. Plus a whole floor full of accessories. Great place and can always find something your looking for and sometimes what your not !!

Fantastic shop, I have been going here for many years mainly for fish and aquarium related items, but they sell pretty much anything pet related. Well worth a look if you are passing.

Bought my second pair of guinea pigs here after my Midna died. The staff were lovely and the animals treated well. We met a very lovely parrot that had a lot to say that was boarding there. He was clearly very happy and enjoying the people around him. I'd be happy to board my piggies there if I don't have any guinea pig volunteers (I have very enthusiastic nephews who look after them when I'm away) the piggy babies i got have settled quickly and have cheered Midna's sister up greatly.

My Husband and I had lots of questions about list of animals, trying to make an informed decision on what to buy our son. Martin spent a very long time explaining everything thoroughly, both positives and negatives… he was excellent.

A very large selection of animals, including some more exotic species (Spiders, lizards, snakes etc). Very knowledgeable staff and lots of accessories for almost any family pet. Prices are good, and the live reptile food is always in good condition.

The staff are friendly. The animals are cute. And they have most thing you would need for most pets. Great store. I have a green cheeked conure and i take him here for his nails to be trimmed and it's always so easy, AND CHEAP! RECCOMEND. We also boarded our bird here over our staycation for 6 days. Not only was the boarding very reasonably priced. But he arrived back a very happy boy. Boarding service is also a strong recommendation.

We will only use Paws For Thought. Because they are always extremely helpful. Have brilliant advice Knowledge is always key when you are dealing with. Not your normal run of the mill animals &I would have to say they would be the first place you would go other than vets & they're much cheaper.

Friendly & knowledgeable people, well stocked in all departments. All animals are really well looked after and seem in really good health to me. in all departments, Tropical Fish & Marine fish downstairs. Superbly clean tanks, well stocked healthy fish and plants. The staff are very helpful and spend time with you if you need advice. I don’t normally write reviews but this shop deserves one as it excels. One of the best, that’s why I go back 👌

There isn't much you can,t get st Paws for Thought on York Road. We bought accessories for my granddaughter's Dragon lizard, which she is getting for her birthday, but there is so much more. Very interesting.

Best pet shop around staff very knowledgeable great service fish live for years if kept well. Everything in my tank is from this shop I drive 10 miles to get here passing the chain stores as their stock is far better

The guys are so knowledgeable about my Beardie. They're always happy to give him the once over, they trim his nails etc. The store always has an amazing selection of the bugs in all different sizes too.

Can't praise this pet shop enough. We have a large collection of roaches,Milipedes beetles etc . The staff are top rank, always about for helpful advice and tips.( a shout out to John). Decent prices for substrate and cork bark. Top rank .

Very helpful staff, lots of variety, and best around for fresh live feed. We travel from York to get feed for our axolotls every 1-2 weeks

What a wonderful shop. The staff are incredibly knowledgeable and really care. We've had a bearded dragon and hamster added to our family from this planet they are incredible every time. They also board the pets for us when we're on holiday. I can't recommend this place highly enough

Bought a dwarf hamster for my grandson, 3 different members of staff helped us throughout, the last one had her own dwarf hamster and was full advice and it was obvious she adored her own pet, lovely staff xx

What a wonderful shop! I had just recently lost a matured male of my tarantula collection, so i were apprehensive about looking for another T, the staff were so knowledgeable and kind, took great care of all the T's and I walked away very happy with a new T, and it's settled just fine. Very happy, will visit again! 😊
