We came here for the first time after seeing so many good reviews. However, we were somewhat disappointed with the food. We ordered wonton homemade soup, chicken in chilli oil (cold dish), slow-cooked stewed beef in soup (hot dish) and eggs fried rice. The homemade wonton soup was nothing to shout about. It was very bland. The wanton tastes more like those you can get from the Chinese supermarket. I wouldn’t recommend this dish. Chicken in chilli oil was very delicious. The chicken was cooked well topped with chillies and garlic. The chicken was submerged in a layer of chilli oil and soy sauce. It did go down well with a bowl of rice. Slow-cooked stewed beef in the soup was a huge disappointment. The portion was small, tasted bland, and the beef was tough. I was so disappointed that we forgot to take the picture. Eggs fried rice was another disappointment of the night. First of all, the rice was not cooked properly—nothing worst than eating half-cooked rice. You can barely see any eggs. The fried rice just tasted very bland. All in all, there are better Chinese restaurants in town. We wouldn’t go back anytime soon.

Came here after recommendations from friends and seeing good reviews. I must say, in order to capture the true essence of the food here is to choose their stand out dishes, for example, the spicy whole sea bass dish was absolutely delicious. You’ll need a vegetable dish (I personally liked the Chinese cabbage dish, though I would’ve preferred pak Choi or choi sum) along with a bowl of rice in order to really enjoy it properly. The extra noodle dish was great, but majority of the favour is in the soup so don’t eat the noodles on its own; the noodle’s texture was good. I do have some minor criticisms, the salt and pepper squid was slightly too salty, so a wedge of lemon would’ve been good to accompany but wasn’t available, however the texture was good, which is a sign of good quality squid. Additionally, the service was very slow, even for a Thursday night when I visited, as I’d waited 30min for the squid starter and my drinks were forgotten by the waiter. Overall, I would recommend this place as it serves great food. In order to really enjoy an Asian restaurant, particularly Chinese, you should try order more traditional dishes or at least dishes that aren’t on your regular takeaway menu.

The BEST Chinese restaurant. As a northern Chinese, I can say this is the most authentic Chinese food in Leeds. Dumplings remind me of my hometown. Quality food and excellent service, thanks to Wen‘s.

We were lucky to eat here on Saturday early evening as the restaurant was fully booked so would recommend book your table in advance especially on weekends. Food amazing, brilliant service and good atmosphere. Kung Po chicken was spot on and Hot and Sweet Pork delicious. Smashed cucumber with garlic is one of the best we had.

Brilliant restaurant, food was very tasty and much better than a takeaway. Very authentic Chinese and the staff are so nice. Small venue with not many tables so advise booking to not disappoint.

The best Chinese in Leeds, and as a vegan I was pretty impressed that they had vegan/vegetarian options. I got fried tofu rice, Kung po tofu and vegetable dumplings.... Pretty amazing food...

Food and service was amazing. We had the Pork Belly Slices and Garlic (Spice level was perfect, chicken skewers (traditional tasting), Beef Brisket and Noodle Soup (could have done with a bit more seasoning, but that’s my preference, but overall really good and very tender beef) and the chicken noodle stir fry (very much what you think when ordering Chow Mein). Only negative is that the venue could do with some music to add to atmosphere.

Authentic Chinese food which I have tried in this area. Quite little restaurant with very friendly staff. I tried the chicken spring rolls, sliced pork belly in chilli oil and chicken friend rice which was very good. The egg fried rice could have been a little bit more flavourful. Stir fried king prawn with cashews lacked flavor for my taste

Still probably the best Chinese food I have ever had in the UK. Proper cooking and great veggie/vegan options. Friendly staff. The salt and pepper aubergine starter is sublime!!

Food barely had a pass. Dumplings were good but they served us a rice that had been cooked for at least a day and a half and tasted like genuine plastic. I've never tried such a terrible rice. We were quite disappointed with the food as we found the menu a bit misleading or at least lacking enough explanations of the dishes, as the stir-fried shredded pork in sweet and spicy sauce came with no sauce at all. We thought it was a bit overpriced too

Good quality food, great value, friendly staff and nice quiet atmosphere. :) (The only thing I would suggest for them is to improve their rice.)

Love the food. Beef mapo tofu and Kung Po Chicken is just beautiful. The only disappointment was our soft shell crab tempura came out overcooked as the batter was dark brown and tasted a little burnt. But other than that, the food was delicious. Reminded me of Shanghai.

I've wanted to come to Wen's for a while, and finally did this weekend, and it was worth the wait. We started with fried minced beef dumplings which were perfect. Then we had the chicken in chilli oil - sliced cold chicken thighs on the bone in the most perfectly spiced chilli oil. For mains we had the fried sea bass and lamb with cumin, two very different but equally delicious dishes. The staff were excellent and it was a friendly atmosphere and you could tell the other diners were also enjoying their food as much as we were. Will definitely visit again soon.
