A
home
away
from
home.
Himalayan
Bunker
Leh
was
definitely
one
of
the
main
reasons
for
a
memorable
experience
I
had
on
my
solo
trip
to
Ladakh.
Having
barely
any
expectations,
I
arrived
in
Leh
around
9pm
without
any
reservations
for
the
night,
desperately
hoping
Himalayan
Bunker
would
be
the
best
place
to
crash
and
that
I
wouldn't
have
to
walk
around
looking
for
another
option.
Rightfully
so,
the
staff
managed
to
make
quick
arrangements
within
a
few
minutes
for
me
and
a
couple
of
friends
I
met
on
the
bus.
The
next
few
days
I
spent
here
were
truly
magical,
now
that
I
am
far
away
in
some
corner
reminiscing
the
trip.
The
rooms
were
clean,
and
the
beds
are
far
more
than
comfortable
for
a
peaceful
sleep
after
a
tough
day
of
riding/hiking.
Washrooms
are
well-maintained,
with
the
only
drawback
of
not
having
heaters/geysers.
They
rely
on
solar
heaters
which
may
not
be
very
effective
on
1
out
of
7
days
when
it
gets
cloudy
(although,
a
cold
shower
in
12-15
degrees
Celsius
is
an
experience
in
itself
that
you
should
try
at
least
once).
The
common
areas
are
super
lively.
There's
a
dining/meeting
room
(since
there's
no
food
allowed
in
the
dormitories
itself),
a
lounge
with
few
diwans
and
seats
laid
out
right
in
front
of
the
entry,
a
reception
and
a
rooftop
where
you
can
chill
or
party
with
friends.
Drinking
water
and
kettles
to
boil
water
is
also
made
available
on
the
ground
floor.
Free
high
speed
WiFi
is
available,
along
with
abundant
charging
ports.
You
can
find
out
about
bike
rentals
or
cabs
in
case
you
need
it
from
the
reception.
The
staff
aren't
exactly
staff,
they
treat
you
like
family
if
you
are
the
type
that
would
reciprocate.
It
was
super
fun
to
meet
Sudhanshu
in
person,
knowing
him
initially
for
his
popularity
from
the
other
reviews.
He
guided
us
wherever
possible,
helping
us
chalk
out
plans
to
explore
Leh
and
prepare
an
itinerary
to
visit
the
other
parts
of
Ladakh.
Sudhanshu,
along
with
the
team
(Cheffy
bhai,
Fauji
bhai,
and
everyone
else)
blended
in
so
well
with
us,
it
felt
like
meeting
people
we'd
probably
known
for
ages.
If
I
were
to
come
back
to
Leh
tomorrow,
I
would
not
give
a
second
thought
about
the
place
I'd
be
staying
in,
Himalayan
Bunker
all
the
way!
