Quite a filthy establishment, with poor hygiene standards and substandard drinks. The beer garden is very nice however they shut it very early (11pm). Food isn’t very fresh and the kitchen also closes very early. The only pro of this is establishment is the fact that the drinks are very cheap and really affordable. I would consider coming here for a few drinks before going somewhere else.

This was a lovely restaurant to visit, consisting of a glorious presentation and Christmas decorations were also up! The bar was beautifully presented and I enjoyed a spirit to drink on my first visit, served in due time. I came back for breakfast twice, enjoying an Eggs Benedict and American Pancakes with Bacon that were both served by friendly staff to my clean table!

In one corner of Jubilee Square stands a stone column topped with a ball and cross. It is all that remains of Leicester's medieval High Cross. The High Street in Leicester stretched from North Gate to South Gate. The street was paved, unlike other roads, so it was quite literally the 'high' street. A market grew up around the meeting of these streets which then increased to two weekly markets so in 1577 the High Cross was erected to provide shelter for the market stalls. The High Cross was an octagonal building with 8 pillars supporting a central dome and cost 100 pounds to build. By 1773 the High Cross was in poor condition, and it was pulled down to make way for carriages to navigate the busy intersection. A granite cross was later set into the pavement to show where the market cross had stood. A single column was saved from destruction and, after being moved from place to place around Leicester across the years, it was finally placed in Jubilee Square in 2014.

Went today and had beef madras and a pint. Beer was good and served to table quickly. The curry was OK, small portion though and the accompanying naan was tough as old leather ( stale). Not a great experience.

Another wetherspoons, Another 5 stars from me. A huge range of affordable drinks. Good atmosphere, different crowd...lots of workers in tonight. Food flying out. Lots of people ordering off the app. You just can't beat the value for money. Always the busiest pub in town....that's got to tell you something.

We visited The High Cross in August 2023. Set in a wonderful Grade II Listed building, the pub is quite spacious inside and traditionally decorated. There’s plenty of seating and a sunken seating area to the side of the bar with a number of pleasant bookshelf booths. Really nice enclosed beer garden but the men’s toilets were mid-refurbishment when we visited. Check out our website or visit our socials (@wethowanderers) to read our full review of the pub!

Like most pubs the atmosphere was extremely loud. We had to shout at one another to be heard but having said that our meals were lovely and tasty and the service was good, didn't have a long wait even though it was heaving with people, would go back again if in Leicester again.

Wetherspoon's food never disappoints me because of the deliciously large portions at affordable prices. We went for lunch and it was busy but still many seatings available. Food came rather quickly, but they forgot my onion rings which was part of my burger. Told the waiter and a fresh batch was promptly brought to us. My favourite is their chicken wings - so so delicious 😋

It's a wetherspoons so you know what to expect :) I went in for a breakfast to set myself up for a day of sightseeing. Good value and decent food as always. The staff were friendly and service was really quick.

A lovely gastro pub; went on a Tuesday afternoon and it was packed out, so a very popular place. Disability access in to venue is level access but can only sit on certain tables for mobility challenged due to many different levels of seating areas but all toilets are on level access, so this is great. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. Crowd were nice, especially to my friend who has a learning disability. Had a nice meal with a drink for under a tenner!

Wanted a friendly enough place for me and my family to have breakfast for a reasonable price. Ordered via the Wetherspoons app (which was very easy) and our order didn't take long at all. Very polite and friendly staff and decent prices.

The dining area is hotch potch. While ordering my meal, my table number was taken, Which got confusing. The burger was small and the chips hard. I would not return

Cheap drinks which is very welcome. A good place to meet up with a group of friends. This is a no frills pub but you can get a cheap decent meal here. The staff were friendly and helpful.

very nice place, everything was good apart from the steak. i ordered medium rare steak and got a steak that was half well done and half raw, since it was cut unevenly. after i told the workers about it, only the manager was polite about it whereas the rest of the workers could’ve had better customer service as they were rude.

Great Spoons. Very large layout providing a busy atmospheric environment. Can be loud due to this. Table service via the app is very quick and the food is cooked to an excellent standard

Can't go wrong with a weatherspoons. Our food was nice, plenty of it and was all hot. Only downside was there were a lot of tables and chairs clustered together where we sat that looked like they'd been abandoned so had to move them to get to a table. Staff were friendly.

A nice Weatherspoons in a great location.. there are loads of tables and an outdoor area so seating shoupdmjot be an issue. Typical spoons menu. I personally came twice both occasions not particularly busy but I got no service or felt like anyone went out of their way to make my visit great. I am disabled and hand my dog which was no issue as Weatherspoons is equality friendly but no one asked me for water for the dog or if I needed anything extra (I do not need any special treatment but it's nice to ask). Overall I would pick one of the other pubs to meet friends and hang out the only thing this place has going for it currently is the cheap menu and location. Edit A waiter called Tia did get water for the dog 🐕 and was very helpful plus one 🌟🌟

Lovely Venue, Good Service. Very Nice Place for a "Chilled Date Night" Consisting of Food and Drinks. Few Cheeky Cocktail Pitcher Jugs Goes Down a Treat too.

Very safe and love the back garden opened up, i don't feel crowded or scared of catching covid, the signing in system is very clean and neat, Staff are very patient and friendly especially this one server called Henry, He served me and my father plenty of Newcastle brown and Fosters. 😊

This pub is characterised by its perpetually business. Patrons may not mind the noisy atmosphere, but the competition for a table after 17:00 can be fierce. Staff are accommodating but forever (and understandably) engaged with a sense of urgency. Food and drinks are very affordable, with all the staples on offer. The High Cross must be one of the very few post-pandemic pubs in Leicester where one can still buy two pints for a fiver. The selection of beers on tap tend not to be best. Cleanliness, despite the efforts of hard-working staff, is wanting. Moreover, in a city centre ripe with excellent locally or independently owned pubs, it seems a shame to bring your custom to a Weatherspoon's. Come for the low prices.

Would like to say a big thank you to the server that handed my purse in, sat 04/02/23,my faith has been totally restored in honesty, the server was very observant to notice we had friends in pub that knew us and I collected my purse from them this morning, a big thank you to our friends Michelle and John for taking care of my purse it was a gift that means a lot to me and hold memories for me, oh and my lippy lol. It's cheap but decor is tired and it all felt a bit grubby. Didn't have all the things on the menu and that wasn't the first time either. Shan't bother again, so many other nice places to go and worth paying a bit more for nicer surroundings.

Very busy place lots to choose from when it comes to shopping very good but I'm giving it 1 star du to the parking. The parking price is in line with a lot of London prices but London does disabled discount and high cross doesnt, which I think it is bad. In the parking the staff they had on when I was there didn't understand English and he used his radio too call for help but that never happened so if you need help you won't get it. You are in England please make sure staff understand English.

The pub is nice. Bar staff are great and food and drink is great too. One of the security guys was rude telling us to leave the premise unless we had ID. He didn’t even give us a chance to provide our ID. It was just very unwelcoming

First time for a meal here for myself, my wife's been here a couple of times before & I thought the steak meal we had was VFM. My wife's steak was not as good as mine, hers having more gristle. I think it's a bit of the luck of the draw regarding the quality of the steak. We will return when in Leicester again.

Good value for money, as always. I can recommend the beef Madras and onion bajis on curry night. Staff pleasant and helpful, especially the manageress who sorted out a problem with my bill. Only 4 stars, as they don't seem to be enforcing the no smoking/vaping in the designated area outside .

👍👍 One of my personal favourites in Leicester and a place that wasn’t too negatively affected by the pandemic and lockdowns. So I am really glad it is still around. Staff are always nice and friendly, not long of a wait to sit or when ordering any food or drinks too. It is a lot larger than most peopl...
