Fabulous. Fantastic service and very good food. Totally love the atmosphere too. Superb bourbon selection at the bar (less so for other liquors if you're looking for anything else, unfortunately). I'll also add that the apparent dress code is not enforced: there were people in jeans and t-shirts there so we ended up feeling a little over-dressed. But hey. We had a really nice experience. Looking forward to coming back.

This restaurant is just beautiful inside and out. From the valet parking to desert the whole experience was nothing but first class. The bacon wrapped shrimp and gritts with bbq sauce was an amazing start. The lamb was to die for and the zucchini caserole was simply smashing. My wife got the hot brown and loved it with the corn pudding; top notch. We ended our food extravaganza with dark chocolate Creme Brule. The atmosphere is old world and the place is like stepping back to a perfectly preserved 1940's venue. We just loved it and will be back for sue. 5 star!!

What a wonderful find. My husband and I were driving through Lexington on our home to Chicagoland from a vacation in Gatlinburg TN. I was looking for a nice sit down restaurant to celebrate my husband's birthday. Merrick Inn did not disappoint. The free valet parking was helpful as there is not much parking nearby. The building is a beautiful old farm house. It feels like you are having dinner at a big country manor. Each room is a small dining room with a different decor making it feel small and intimate even though it is a large building. Our waitress, Rachel, was very personable and accommodating with my gluten intolerance. The food was delicious. I ordered the pork chop, green beans and asparagus. My husband had the pork tenderloin, green beans and asparagus. The meat was tender, juicy and had amazing flavor. Highly recommend this restaurant.

We went for brunch. The food was delicious (Grouper Fingers,Fresh Fritatta, Chicken and Waffles, French Toast and West Lex). We also enjoyed the mimosa flight and Bloody Mary. The patio atmosphere was perfect. The service was a bit lacking (had to ask for water and appetizer plates) but, I think the server was new. Overall it was an awesome dining experience and we will be back!

Was our second time dining at Merrick. We were traveling and spent night in Lexington just to have dinner there. Merrick is fabulous. It's a romantic atmosphere with the most wonderful staff. We both has the bacon wrapped filet which were perfect. We will be going back again and again.

Quality nice dinner out. The people were so really wonderful. They went out of their way to demonstrate great, truly excellent customer service for our large group. Several excellent apps and dishes were had, including prime rib, pork chop, Mediterranean chicken, and walleye! Yes, the walleye was very nice. Good drinks, wedge salad, skewers, and atmosphere.

Rochelle was an absolute gem! She’s fairly new, but very seasoned. Her customer service was excellent. She greeted us with the biggest smile. I highly recommend visiting the Merrill Inn. Ask for Rochelle. You won’t be disappointed! Thank you for being so kind!

What an enjoyable and enjoyable date night at this Kentucky iconic restaurant. It was our first time dining here, and we blown away by the ambiance, the elegant setting and historical importance of this beautiful former home , now a fine dining establishment. The service was top top notch, our Bourbon Slush was sweet, tantalizing, simply delightful! We had the steak street tacos appetizer and seriously we could of ordered 2 of these and been completely satisfied. They were soooo good! My wife ordered Merrick Inn's famous fried chicken dinner and I ordered the Angus Center cut (fork tender) steak, we both had sides. The food was top notch; flavorable, tender, fresh and the food temperature was perfect. Our waitress was attentive but not overbearing , and very professional. We had the very fresh and homemade tasting strawberry shortcake for dessert. Overall this was the perfect place for a perfect date night!!

We are from out of town and selected this restaurant after reading positive reviews about the ambiance, atmosphere, and food quality. What we discovered is that when you dine here, you must be paying for the ambiance rather than the food quality. The patio was beautiful; the food was terrible. My husband’s corn pudding was curdled. His hot brown was topped with burned (not just crispy) bacon. My side of roasted asparagus was brought out on a plate much too small for it, so that both ends of the asparagus draped over the sides of the plate. The server then set this on the table, and the asparagus ends rested directly on the vinyl tablecloth. This just seemed unsanitary. My salmon was inedibly salty. (They did try to immediately make this right by remaking the salmon with less seasoning. Unfortunately, this disrupted our dining experience, as my husband was finished with his entire meal and I had eaten all my sides before my entree was brought back out.) We tend to be adventurous diners and enjoy a wide variety of cuisines. We don’t mind paying for a good meal, but we expected a much higher standard of culinary excellence from the Merrick Inn for the price point. We do not recommend.

Best brunch in town! I had the Huevos Rancheros (and the Crab Cake Benedict 😁) on the patio and I was blown away! Kudos Merrick Inn!

On a recent outing with friends, Fat Man Reviews made a trip into the Merrick Inn Restaurant, in Lexington, KY. Merrick serves southern fare with fresh ingredients in a comfortable manor house with a large patio. I sampled the Pineapple Martini made with house made pineapple infused vodka and vermouth. The pineapple is present from smell to finish, it was creamy, frothy but not overly sweet. It was excellent. Our group ordered the Fried Banana Peppers with house made cocktail sauce. The peppers are thick cut, breaded and fried to a golden brown and not greasy. The cocktail sauce is ketchup forward with a nice horseradish finish. The only knock is they are hard to cut with a butter knife. We also tried Trick's Beer Cheese, this is made with Wisconsin cheddar, smoked jalapeños and Country Boy brew served with crackers and pretzels. The beer cheese is very thick, but it is creamy. It has enjoyable heat and a smoky flavor. My fiancé ordered the Walleye Pike with fries and asparagus. The fries were out of a bag, cooked well but needed salt. The asparagus was steamed well but required seasoning. The walleye was flaky and had good flavor but was a little soggy and not crispy. The house made tarter sauce was very creamy and flavorful. I had the Angus Rib-eye(rare) with Mediterranean potatoes and corn pudding. The pudding was well-balanced with a pleasant buttery sweetness. The potatoes were au gratin style, cheesy and creamy. They were made with feta cheese, onions, red peppers, heavy cream and seasoning. The steak was cooked perfectly, seasoned well and fork tender. It was almost too tender as it melted like butter. Merrick has several starters, entrées, salads as well as weekly specials. The service is friendly. I highly recommend a reservation. The Fat Man says that Merrick Inn Restaurant is Fat Man Approved with 1 chin.

First time here and we will definitely be back. Thanks to the receptionist for letting us in without a reservation! (my bad). We loved everything we ate. The chicken and waffles were to die for and the biscuits and gravy were so good. We also had some delicious drinks with our brunch.

My wife and we’re spending a few days in Kentucky and Ohio. We specifically planned a stop in Lexington so we could visit Merrick Inn. Had a small problem with the calamari that arrived a little on the cold side. When we mentioned it to the server he immediately replaced it and we were back in business…delicious! We then had the house salad and pecan crusted pork tenderloin (with extra sauce of course) which as always…fantastic. Service was a little slow but was probably our own fault as my wife ordered only a salad and we weren’t clear that that was to be her main course. Quickly corrected and we were back on track. Merrick Inn never disappoints and will travel miles to enjoy a visit.

Decided to last minute get a reservation at Merrick Inn for my wife and I. It has been many years since I have gone and my wife has never been. The layout in this place is still just fantastic. All the different rooms really allow even a busy night manageable and still feel like you can have an intimate meal together. Now you get to the food! My wife ordered the Italian Pasta dish with Chicken and a salad, I ordered the Colorado Lamb Chops with a baked potato and Broccoli with hollandaise. (Pictured) Portions are a healthy size and although this isn't the cheapest restaurant I feel it is absolutely worth the occasional splurge for a Fantastic meal. My meal was cooked perfectly. I did end up chasing the meal with a slice of Mixed Berry Pie a la mode and truly enjoyed every bite. The service was also excellent. Our server was very attentive and made some wonderful suggestions when asked. Thank you

I love the Merrick Inn! Such a beautiful, elegant restaurant inside. Wonderful bar! Beautiful and spacious patio with outside bar area as well. The service is always amazing, the food is delicious, and the atmosphere lends itself to a fabulous dining experience. ALL of the food is delicious. I had the salmon tonight and it was cooked perfectly. Will return again soon!

Came here with families after a small wedding and we were set up in a private room. We were a happy, lively and relatively loud bunch. Emma was absolutely a pro as our server; patient, cheerful, attentive and unfailingly pleasant. And the food! Wow! We ordered loads of different appetizers to share and I'd be hard pressed to pick a favorite. Entrees were delicious as well. Such a beautiful and classy place to dine. Highly recommend.

The patio was the best choice to make for brunch! They have a beautiful patio. The chicken and waffles could not have been better, and the smoked jalapeño bourbon maple syrup 😍 WOW! If you’re looking for brunch in Lexington, you have to try The Merrick!

Historic restaurant nestled in a residential area off Tates Creek. Unique choices as well as some traditional comfort food are staples on the menu. Wonderful atmosphere.

Beautiful restaurant. Wonderful service. Excellent food. I do believe the lobster, crab, and shrimp nachos are the best appetizer I've ever had. The steak was delicious (as good as or better than a master griller will make at home). Highly recommend for a special occasion. Prices are not unreasonable given the quality of food, service (and even quantity).

Merrick Inn is still my favorite "nice" restaurant in the Lexington area. We went here 5 years ago and just returned this May and had great meal, stuff drinks and excellent service. Didn't see the patio last time we visited (Nov - too cold) but it is a beautiful area. Want a beautiful, relaxing meal? Try Merrick - I had the fillet, wife had salmon - both were excellent! Merrick Inn is a very nice, romantic restaurant. I always feel like I'm stepping into a Gatsby house when I walk in. We used this as our "final night" treat before going home ... the outdoor patio is really nice though we ate inside. The managers talked to us a little after we ate and we were looking around the rest of the establishment - very nice guys, cared about their work and making it successful! Highly recommend anything from their menu.

Went here last week for a business dinner. Everything was so wonderful! Our server was extremely knowledgeable of our menu and had answers for literally every question. She was pleasant and never hovered, yet we never wanted for anything. I unfortunately can’t remember her name, but she told us she was the server from the TV show that Merrick Inn was featured on. The food was outstanding as well. Can’t wait to go back!

The food was wonderful and full of flavor. Compliments to the chefs! The only downside was it was very crowded in the bar and our server kept interrupting herself at our table to assist other tables instead. She never refilled our drinks and we had to hunt her down to pay the bill. I would highly recommend making a reservation in advance to get the inside dining with, hopefully, a better attending server.
