Santa María Ranger Station

Tourist attraction National park

👍👍 Gorgeous national park! A little remote and only really accessible via car. The station seems very deserted, but they have lots of information. The hike to the hot springs is great, 2 waterfalls on the way and lots of animals to see during the hike. The hot springs are unique, we were the only ones... People often mention springs,

Gorgeous national park! A little remote and only really accessible via car. The station seems very deserted, but they have lots of information. The hike to the hot springs is great, 2 waterfalls on the way and lots of animals to see during the hike. The hot springs are unique, we were the only ones there. 6 different natural pools from cold to hot water. A must do in the rincon de la vieja!

This is a beautiful dry forest and there were no other people there, leaving its beauty for us alone to enjoy. If you don't like it, you're a jerk.

What a great place to hike from! Hiked out to the hot springs. Which were lovely! The sulfur smell is pretty harsh, but it’s manageable. On the way back I wanted to stop by the cold springs, but they were very low. It is dry season after all. I saw a monkey, a deer, a Laro Falsa, and so much more. Really fun day trip!!! If you’re on a motorcycle, the ride out and back from Liberia is amazing! If you take a right where 918 forks off to the left, there’s quite an epic ride back to Liberia. (Should be experienced for this route)

fantastic park with volcanic springs, waterfalls, and much beauty. There is some difficult terrain, but easy for people used to hiking.

Great 6 mile round trip hike to 2 waterfalls, a fumarole, and a hot spring. Road to the trailhead is slow going, but totally doable in a 2WD car with typical clearance. Trail is great - wide enough for two abreast. Hot springs are lovely - gorgeous spot with grass nearby and trees providing some shade. Maybe 20 other hikers were there today - even had the hot springs to ourselves for a 1/2 hour.
