Not too much to see in here, however it is a pretty interesting building that has its particular history. It was the most secure jail in the old Guanacaste.

Still not a museum in any real sense of the word. It could be really great, but it still just seems to be an abandoned building used for community groups. With a bit of imagination there is a certain interest-value in the building itself, but nothing to make it a destination. It is such a shame that a project to make a museum seems to have stalled - there is not really any information about this being the ultimate goal, if indeed it still is, and therefore it is quite odd that it is still marked as a museum. It would be nice just to start by clearing the courtyard and verandas to create somewhere to sit and perhaps get drinks or snacks.

This is a gorgeous little spot. Free entrance. Definitely suggest leaving a donation though. They deserve it. Amazing local artist showcase. And the staff is ridiculously friendly and helpful. Go. Go see it. Now. Hahahaha. Seriously though. Totally worth stopping in.

If you come here expecting a museum, you'll be disappointed. But if you come expecting to get to wander round an historic building, with fascinating remnants of its life as a former prison, after being a garisson, you'll have a great time. There was no entry fee to get in, it was a donation box. Liberia is not such a touristy place, so it was nice to have somewhere to go and get a chance to interact with the locals and brush up on our pigeon Spanish. It now supports local art and artists. Some potters had a display on when we were in and the stuff was incredible, as well as them being warm and friendly. They actually helped another family and then us understand the building. If it wasn't so early in our trip, we'd have bought something to take home.

We attempted to make it to this place twice and was unsuccessful. The last time we tried, we went there at 8am which is what it says the opening time is and when we got there, we couldn't find the open gate. Next time I'm in Liberia I'll try again

An old jail with a local art gallery, lots of events and markets. We really enjoyed visiting this quaint little museum. The employees are very friendly and informative.

At time of visit only two free art exhibits. One of wood sculptures and the other a mix of art celebrating Costa Rica bicentenary. Worth a look-see if you have time to spare in Liberia.

There is no such place. We found the building and walked around but there is no museum there.

Nothing to see. Small local art exhibit. Is an old jail, but zero information. Disappointing. Alajuela has a really good museum. This is not a museum.

Great potential for a museum, but it holds temporary events only.

not a museum, it’s an empty historical building. There are no exhibits. The ornamental concrete tile floors are the only thing visually engaging here
