Have always loved Firkin. Great lunch and dinner spot with festive twinkle lights lining the ceiling. Large bar with tons of drink options. I love the menu but wasn’t impressed with the cod tacos — incredibly under seasoned. Could’ve used a spicy sauce or more salt. I will still continue to come back here though!

Another "not my first time here, but first Google Review" for this place! Love the festive decor inside and outside of this spot. Food is delicious and has every type of taste from around the world. Not pictured here but ordered the Cuban Toasties for appetizers were good but would pass up next visit. Pictured here is their Lobster Ravioli which was filled and nicely packed Lobster and cheeses. Much of their food is not overly salty.

Arguably one of the best restaurants in Libertyville. However, they do not care about their take-out customers and are fine losing business of long-time customers over their absurd, forced 15% gratuity on take-out orders (Insane). I ordered a to-go order in person recently. The total was higher than it should have been so I asked to see an itemized receipt which I never saw. I found out that I was being forced to pay a high 15% gratuity just for takeout. The hostess (who was very nice and helpful!) got her manager who was snotty and he pretended he didn’t know about the hidden 15% gratuity charge and refused to show me an itemized receipt. I told him I want to make sure I’m not being forced to pay that unfair forced gratuity charge that should not even be included. He then fessed up and said that’s their policy and I have to pay it. I asked him for what reason; I was not waited on nor was I served at a table. He told me its because of ordering over the phone (which I didn’t do), he then said its for the to-go containers and people packing the food. I told him I’m not paying it because its not right, so he reluctantly removed it and told me sternly, “next time you come you will have to pay it!; its our policy”. I told him there won’t be a next time and he could not care less he was losing long-term customers. All because an absurd, forced gratuity added to the bill which is just wrong to do for takeout. I hope the owner changes that policy immediately if they want to keep their business. And for the patrons who get takeout, make sure you look at your bill!

Food was great. Appetizers, dinner, everything. The service is miserable. The host looked like she wanted to be anywhere else. Our waiter took our order and disappeared until the main course showed up. Nobody came back for drink orders, nobody wanted to bus our appetizer plates. Place was only about half full too. 10/10 on the kitchen, 3/10 on service.

Awesome experience, reservation takes money though!! Go through the back door though because the front is a fire exit! I had the steak which had german mustard seasoning

The four of us all agrees the meals we ordered we delicious and the carrot cake we shared was one of the best. Sat outside in the alleyway and was a very nice atmosphere and our server Nick was excellent! I will go back!

When entering Firkins, the first thing I noticed was how massive the bar was. With both beers and wines on tap, there’s a plethora of alcohol offered. The overall aesthetic of the place was unique and festive. The staff is very friendly and speedy with their service. The options for cocktails, wines, and beers are massive.. If you decide to visit, make sure to keep an eye on the hours of operation as The hours are a little odd. When the weather is nice, it is pleasant to sit on the patio.

We enjoyed a great selection of beers. However, for starters, we ordered spicy chicken strips, which were so-so, and for the main course, we opted for a bacon cheeseburger. That night, we experienced difficulty sleeping, and our stomachs were upset. I am unsure about what was wrong with the food, but we even gave a very small amount of the leftover burger to our dog, and she refused to eat it.

This restaurant is excellent. The food is delicious, especially the Spicy Spanish Pork Sandwich. The Belgian beer selection is incredible, especially what they have on draft. The atmosphere is super cool and the wait staff is friendly.

went in for a single burger with everything on it for takeout. it’s near impossible to get wrong if you truly think about it. the waitress did not look like she knew what she was doing and proceeded to take 10 minutes to punch in that single order. when we got our order, we opened it to see absolutely nothing on it besides the patty and buns. however, even then it still tasted good. the food was good and we still wish to come here one day. but the waitress girl was not good at all. there is nothing wrong to ask for help and she should have done that instead of denying help from another waitress.

Such a great place! Reminds me of Moulin Rouge! Great beer selection and wine on tap? Yes, please! We will be back.

For years I’ve ordered their siracha chicken wings and told many friends they are THE BEST around. However they recently changed wing suppliers and I’m sad to say are not worth the calories….so disappointing! They were the SMALLEST wings I’ve ever seen with almost no meat on the bone. I actually sent them back and suggested they find a new supplier to this easy-to-fix devastation! Otherwise a great venue with a festive vibe!

Great bar with extensive drink menu and outstanding food! Bartenders and wait staff were very attentive and gave suggestions when asked. Will definitely be back next time we're in Libertyville.

This is a bar, that serves food. Not a restaurant. They have a mix of various dishes. They lack flavor, everything is very bland. We had the shrimp tacos, burgers and the lobster tail that was $44. If your plan is to drink, this is the place. To EAT, I do not recommend it. The waitress was very helpful and nice, great service.

We went last night on 12-20-22 at around 8:45pm. The dining room had about 2 tables occupied. Hostess told us we cannot sit in the dining room and we asked are the tables reserved? She told us NO. She said we can only sit at the bar but there was no room to sit for 2. So not only were we told that can we not sit at an almost empty dining room nor at a bar that is packed we were also told that the kitchen will close at 10pm which was very unnecessary because it was only 8:45pm. At this point it seems that our business was not wanted at this place so we just left and walked a couple blocks to another bar. I would not want to look at this no further than a service issue but one can only think especially being the only Person of Color at that time.

I highly recommend Firkin. I had some time this afternoon to enjoy a nice lunch & went in just based on how it looked & the menu. I’m not surprised by all of the positive reviews. Great food, wonderful atmosphere & good service. If I lived nearby it would definitely become a regular spot. The arugula salad and mussels in white wine sauce were excellent!

I had Huevos Rotos con Jamon. The fries were on point and the jamon was good. The Chicken schnitzel was very properly done, and the salad came as a good balance. I would have put a bit of extra flavor into it. Good selection of beers. The service was good and friendly.

Super cozy, lots of drinks to choose from, very friendly staff. Only had the food a few times, but it's been good whenever I have.

Chicken schnitzel was disappointing... coating was weak and then it wasn't browned very much... it was good in the few places actually browned. Beer was good, and a good selection. Would be willing to try again.

Some of the worst service I’ve had in my entire life. I really wanted to like this place because the environment was fun and the beer selection was good. Unfortunately, I had the foamiest beer (3/4 foam!) I’ve ever had in my entire life served here. I would’ve tried to ask the waiter about it but we went 30-40 minutes at a time between seeing him. In two hours, we were hardly able to order two drinks & dinner (not for lack of trying to order more). Food was good, bar was nice, but service was unredeemable. Would not come back, and wouldn’t recommend when there’s so many other good spots in Libertyville.

Nice restaurant, better location. The food here was pretty good. We had the tacos, burger, and some calamari. We had a mix drink, and one of their ciders. The calamari was definitely good. The burger was average. The tacos were delicious. The drinks we good as well. They had multiple choices for seating. Indoors, outdoors, or a side patio. The waiter was friendly and prompt. The decorations inside and out were pretty cool to look at. They had a front and rear entrance. However, the front entrance is not accessible. I found that a bit odd. I'm not sure if it was due to it being a weekday, or if it's always not in use. This is definitely a place we would frequent again. I just dont think they blew us away.

Stopped for a drink and really loved it. The atmosphere was great and the staff was friendly. I had the local old fashion and it was excellent. I'll for sure come back to this place when I'm in the area, and would recommend to anyone who enjoys a variety of drinks.
