Visited on a Wednesday afternoon, and we were the only guests there to start. Ordered a couple Guinness and Jameson/Gingerales. Atmosphere felt vintage/older with true Irish pub vibes. Beautiful views of the river on the back porch.

Had a few drinks on the first and last day of my trip. The 2 men behind the bar were lovely. The scenery of the river outside was also amazing

A pub with a reputation preceding it, a great pint and a range of rooms to sit and enjoy a quiet drink. The back has a covered garden with an outdoor bar, and extends right to the riverbank, while the front rooms are very traditional Irish pub decor.

Great pub with great Guinness. The oldest pub in Limerick with a spacious and rustic inside area, and a back deck with a great view of the river Shannon and King John’s Castle

The best Guinness in County Limerick and is still very good value. Lovely setting looking right on the river Shannon.

Great stop to take in some Limerick history. Disappointed that they had limited food selection. Still, highly recommended.

A very typical Irish pub...said to be one of the oldest in the area. Friendly staff. Good beer. Sit outside next to the Shannon. Don't think any food served?

Best pint of Guinness in Ireland. Granted I’ll keep looking for a better one, but I suspect that will be difficult! Got that latte effect… a shame I spilled a bit of it. Great bartenders. Friendly, knowledgeable, and willing to help call for a cab in a pinch. Lots of seating, including a massive patio that sits right on the River Shannon. This is a great spot off the beaten path of the city centre. Well worth the trek along the river!

I was down in limerick on St. Stephens day to watch Rugby with Leinster and Munster playing against each other ! Had a few pre match pints in Bowles. The service was fast and efficient, the atmosphere 'electric' Such a great pub.

Good porter, good ale, good rugby match, what else am I supposed to say?? We had a crew of young kids with us and it worked out great in the smoking area out back. Top notch

Excellent view of the river from right outside the back area. The only bar in Limerick that opens directly back onto the river.

My Grandad loved a pint here back in the day and not much has changed since. An authentic pub with a great atmosphere and a good pint. Well worth a visit.

I was there with friends on Saturday night, after the Halloween parade. Despite having been living in Limerick for 6 years now, I've never been in this pub. Well, their Guinness is different, I would say at a par with the one you can get at the Guinness storehouse in Dublin! Definitely the best Guinness I've ever had outside of Dublin! The place is small and cozy, I guess that's what they really mean here when they talk about enjoying time in a pub... We had no food, but I'm giving 5 stars anyway.
