Picturesque meandering river originating from Guelph lake passing through middle of the city. Great trails along the way.

When some people first hear of the "Speed" river, they laugh because of the many slow or "lazy" sections in their experience. We have hiked along much of the Speed inside and out of Guelph in all seasons. It has so many wonderful and wild sections. We love to walk/hike near the banks of the Speed.

Living on the North side of Guelph, we frequently take the walk through Riverside park and down beside the Speed river to the city centre. This is a beautiful 4km walk and during the summer is a lovely after dinner walk to grab a coffee or even a beer on a patio. The scenery is fantastic when you realise that you're in the centre of a city and the path is well maintained and used.

I like the walking trail. Mostly it's very quiet area not many people. Nice walk through the woods with the river by your side.

The Speed River flows into Eramosa River. Beautiful wild life in the Spring and Summer months. The Speed River feeds the City of Guelph. Their are trails for walking, biking and running. Quiet walks.

Beautiful in many places. The efforts of the GRCA seem to be paying off: The River looks cleaner, and has more life than it has for many years.
