We found it by chance and were amazed by how much it offers to visit and how many wonderful religious and non-religious finds of inestimable value. In gold and silver. Stunning workmanship. Remains of papal robes and slippers among many things. Stunning paintings and frescoes. Lots of history and art. A ride that lasted at least an hour and was thoroughly enjoyed for a very honest price. 5 euros per person. Truly worth visiting. Elizabeth

A hidden gem that few people know about! I saw this monastery on the viewing platform at the foot of the mountain. I walked up not far away and found the entrance to the museum. When you first entered, you may feel that there is not much to see, but in fact, almost all the spaces inside are open, and the atrium and church are very spectacular. You can go to the prayer platform on the second floor to take a panoramic view of the church. The scenery is beautiful. You can take a better view of Lisbon than the platform at the bottom of the mountain. The tile decoration inside is very Lisbon and is definitely worth taking a picture of. The historical part is also explained in detail, and the movement route is clearly planned. It is a remarkable and good museum. The rooftop part is a bit hidden. After following the route to see most of the rooms, there are signs on the stairs at the last entrance. After walking up, you will first reach a platform. There is also a small door on the right to the bell tower. It is not difficult to walk. Many people give up when they get here, but you have to go up the stairs in the small door to get to the big platform.

Went here after a recommendation from one of our friend, and it was honestly just amazing. There's a bit of culture, much to see and it's quite impressive. And on top of that you end the trip with a spectacular view. All that for 5€ per adult. Would recommend.

More educational than entertaining. An old monastery and church repurposed as a museum. The museum has an impressive exposition on history of organized Christianity in Portugal. The architecture is impressive and the tile panels are exquisite. The church towers are worth visiting too as the views from there are even better than those from the National Pantheon (and it’s easier to take pictures from there). The entry fee is reasonable.

Lovers of religious art and azulejos have come to the right place. For everyone else, the monastery's bell tower offers fantastic views over Lisbon. Not too expensive with an entrance fee of 5 euros, pleasantly cool on hot days, located directly at the E28 tram stop.

Little advertised compared to other museums and historical/religious buildings in the city, I think that in terms of value for money it is the best place to visit. You will spend more than 1 hour, even 2 if desired, to visit every room and every floor of this museum. Everything is also described in detail in English so you will have no problems knowing all the information and curiosities. Easily reachable by taking the historic tram 28, but if climbing lots of hills isn't a problem for you then given the proximity to the center (Arco di Rua Augusta so to speak) even on foot it will take you very quickly to reach your destination.

This building was 18th century Igreja (church) very gothic and recorded so many historical events. The building is very pretty and my favorite part is the 360 degree point of view at the roof top. Even though some of the part a bit scary and feels draining to climb up.

Discovered randomly during our walks in Lisbon. Magical places with these flowers in the interior courtyard

I absolutely recommend buying a ticket to visit the church in its entirety and the monastery rooms. There is no waiting (unlike the Jeronimos monastery) and the environments you visit are different and satisfying. In fact, the visit also includes the climb to the top of the monastery (beautiful view), a couple of exhibitions, the majolica cloister, the cisterns.

Worth the detour for the diversity of what there is to see and the superb view of Lisbon. Perfect signage! Pretty garden with bougainvillea. All this a little away from the popular sites
