Flor da Estrela

Restaurant

👍👍 "Ooze" may not be the most inviting term to use in a review, but this place oozes charm. Better still, they back up their commensurate charm, with super eats, well prepared, and a meal check that actually makes you think they care what you think...I mean...where's the mind blown emoji on this phone!... People often mention good, restaurant,

I really love it all here, and it's full of locals, most old enough to remember when they didn't have a TV on the wall..then again, it's always a hunger buster to see the Russian leader looking through the screen at my plate....sorry Vlad', those yummy curried big, sweet prawns and hand cut chips won't be annexed!

Best restaurant in Portugal!! Many locals come here too. Main courses for less than 10eur and pitcher of wine for 3 euro, the grilled salmon was fantastic & the Meatballs from Peru were out of this world. Very nice interior close to the cathedral and a nice park. Excellent for lunch. Would highly recommend.

A small, good looking restaurant near Basílica da Estrela. An old lady in the kitchen and a gentle server (maybe her son?) are working. Very simple main courses with meat or fish with a price ranging from 8 to 10 euro's.

Very tasty food, typical Portuguese food. English menu was not available, only Portuguese. Wine was very tasty and cheap! Prices are normal.

We started with two beers and olives then shared a salmon and potatoes with veggies meal. The salmon was very tasty and the veggies were shockingly good. The only downside was being charged for cheese we didn't order or want. Eating with @opentoadundance.

Accidental find, but have already booked a table and this time we're going back with friends. Great, simple, traditional Portuguese food at reasonable prices, super professional staff, and the number of items on the menu gave me the impression that the food was actually freshly made as opposed to microwaved. The place is clean and the toilets are sparkling. Their steaks are so gooood that you may never want/like another steak again.

Excellent cafe services on Sunday and open earlier than mentioned. I had take away. The croissant was excellent and the guy at the desk wrapped it beautifully. Love the pride and attention to detail. Recommend to all.

Ask for the daily specials (pratos do dia) and have lunch Portuguese style at a great value. I chose the Bacalhau à Lagareiro, hence (part of the recipe) it came with a good amount of olive oil. Also important to know, in Portugal thanks to a “reduce the salt” campaign, very little salt is used in restaurants. Better for your health but if you’re used to more salt, just ask for it. Enjoy!

Avoid. It looks like they charged us double. After spending a month in Portugal, I have yet to see another place where a regular coffee costs €2,50. I would let it go if the food was any good but I can call it mediocre at best. There is another cafe just around the corner.
