This
is
the
best
Sheraton
hotel
in
the
world,
and
among
the
best
Marriott
hotels.
Sounds
a
bit
exaggerative
and
hyperbolic,
perhaps?
Surely
this
hotel
could
not
be
this
great?
But
it’s
true,
if
my
multi
week
stay
in
July
and
August
of
2021
were
any
indication
of
what
you
can
expect.
In
fact,
I
didn’t
expect
to
stay
long,
but
kept
renewing
my
stay
because
of
just
how
great
this
hotel
really
is.
The
hotel
staff
are
kind,
thoughtful,
proactive,
and
empathetic.
Some
small
examples
that
I
noticed
very
quickly.
When
I
came
for
breakfast
the
second
day
and
beyond,
they
worked
diligently
to
attempt
to
recall
my
breakfast
needs
(which
is
nothing
short
of
amazing,
both
the
staff
and
cuisine!).
Many
staff
speak
English
quite
well
(my
first
language),
many
others
work
hard
to
understand
in
Spanish
(my
second
language),
and
never
did
I
feel
judged
or
disadvantaged
with
my
poor
ability
to
speak
in
Portuguese
(which
will
hopefully
change!).
They’re
also
detailed
and
thorough,
punctual
and
keep
their
promises.
I
received
laundry
care,
without
asking
for
speed,
within
mere
hours
in
almost
all
instances.
I
received
packages
from
Amazon
and
otherwise
(with
remarkable
speed
inside
the
EU
and
Portugal!),
and
the
staff
would
go
out
of
their
way
to
write
a
message
to
me
or
greet
me
with
it
when
I
return
to
the
hotel.
It
felt
like
returning
home
to
family.
Of
course,
this
stay
is
also
very
much
inside
a
scary
pandemic.
Lot’s
of
precautions
continue
to
be
taken
(and
are
necessary!),
so
lot’s
of
rules
to
follow.
Things
are
very
different.
And
yet
this
hotel’s
management
and
team
choose
to
embrace
this
scary
time
with
intentionally,
leadership,
positivity,
and
kindness.
It
shows.
I’ve
been
afforded
the
gift
of
staying
in
many
other
hotels
in
my
lifetime,
and
this
continued
during
the
pandemic,
which
has
stressed
us
all
more
than
many
thought
possible.
So
many
hotels
have
struggled
during
the
pandemic
to
stay
positive
(who
can
blame
them?),
giving
all
the
challenges
they
face.
But
for
someone
who
has
faced
this
battle
as
well,
I
must
say:
be
around
the
people
you
wish
to
be
with
(and
like),
if
you
wish
to
have
a
better
shot
yourself.
Their
energy
is
palatable.
If
you
want
a
happy
experience
for
your
trip
in
Lisboa/Lisbon,
you’d
add
a
great
energy
source
in
staying
here!
All
of
this
are
in
addition
to
the
things
necessary
to
make
a
great
hotel:
very
clean
and
current.
The
hotel
was
built
in
1972,
and
yet
you’d
never
know
given
how
well
maintained
the
facilities
are.
But
building
and
keeping
a
great
building
is
half
the
battle,
and
maintaining
such
a
great
culture
that
makes
all
this
possible
feels
the
most
difficult
of
all.
And
they’ve
done
it.
