Lovely decor & views, room very clean but our room (401) was not large as other reviewers mention. The hotel staff are extremely helpful, they couldn't do enough. Bar/ restaurant are small and all in reception area, much smaller hotel than I expected. Alfamais the traditional area will hills, trams, cobble locked streets & paths, has some fantastic architecture & lovely views. However area is also a bit run down & tired with a lot of graffiti, needs a serious face lift. It has so much potential & could be absolutely beautiful.

My husband and I stayed at this beautiful hotel during our stay in Lisbon. The staff was helpful and knowledgable. We received a map and were outlined what was near our hotel. The hotel was central to all the sights we wanted to see. Everything was in walking distance. Lots of restaurants within walking distance as well. The hotel was clean and spacious. Upon arrival we received wine and coffee. The view was spectacular and it was lovely hearing the city of Lisbon at night through our open window. Each morning we enjoyed their breakfast. Lots of options that were all delicious. Would definitely stay here again.

Bit of a climb from train station (taxi is available) but well worth the effort. Super room with huge balcony on 3rd floor. Excellent breakfast. Very informative receptionist and friendly staff throughout.

Comfortable hotel with a shared terrace area available to non-standard rooms, good air-conditioning, decent WiFi coverage and a good breakfast selection. Good customer service, particularly from the outstanding Sophia and Ruiz. The airport transfer service is timely and good value, as is room service. Hotel is located in the cobbled streets of Alfama, 10 minutes walk from Elevador Castelo and 20 minutes walk from Castelo de São Jorge.

We loved the location of this gem. We booked the Junior Suite with the balcony. Floor 3. We loved our room and enjoyed evenings drinking a nice bottle of Portuguese wine looking at the city view. A picture I will never forget. Breakfast was great. Taxi driver did not have the code to get up the blocked street. Get the code from the hotel before you arrive to save you walking your luggage up the street to the hotel.

A very good hotel with very nice room. Room is big and spacious, with a big balcony. Too bad it was raining when I stayed there. Very good view of Lisbon old city. However, the location of the hotel is not at the main road. Plenty of walking and climbing to reach the hotel, it is tiring if you carry big luggages. If you take cab, please use Google map, drive slow when it is arriving as the hotel frontage is just a small glass door, which is out of my expectation. My cab in fact drove pass twice without noticing the hotel.

This is my favourite hotel in Portugal! The staff are very friendly and helpful, breakfast is great, and the location is wonderful. Rooms are clean, spacious and very well maintained. The views from rooms on the top floor are simply stunning, looking out across the city.

Stayed at this hotel in the off-season. Very quiet, with a nice breakfast, and pretty terrace views. There are many restaurants and viewpoints in the vicinity. This street is open only to local traffic, so it is quiet and relaxing. The whole city is easily reached by walking from this location. The only downside was the shower. The temperature fluctuated and would get very hot for a moment, then return to its set temperature. It did not make for a comfortable shower at all. Despite the shower, I still highly recommend this hotel.

My sister and I enjoyed our stay here. The room was quite large and had a beautiful view overlooking Lisbon. It was very quiet as well. There is certainly room to update the rooms, but everything was perfectly nice and clean. There are not great room service options for food. The breakfast was fine for our needs - not fancy but served the purpose of starting our day off well fed! Plenty of little restaurants all around if you’re willing to walk just a bit. It is on a big hill, so you will be walking on cobblestone up and down hills so it could be challenging for people with mobility issues. The staff was fantastic about sending anything up that we needed, calling cabs for us, helping with laundry service, and making sure we had a great stay. We would definitely stay again!

The service from the staff at Olissippo Castelo was excellent. The hotel deserves every one of its four stars. Whenever I had a question, the concierge happily answered. The kitchen staff was extremely friendly and the breakfast was wonderful. The location was perfect for us, a short walk to the metro and train station. The area is quiet and the rooms were clean. I’d easily recommend staying here to anyone.

Highly recommended. Good location right behind Sao Jorge castle with nice city views and lives up to its 4-star classification.

lovely hotel the pictures make it look a little newer than it appears. The superior rooms have a great balcony. The staff is wonderful. Carpets in rooms could be cleaner on rooms.

This suite is NOT WORTH €250 a night. It is a basic hotel whose staff are slow (like to the point of being backward), the view is infinitely better from both of the two public viewpoints as you will NOT see the castle from your balcony - I have attached a photo. It simply is not worth the price tag it claims. Spend you money wisely by booking elsewhere!

Comfortable and clean with excellent service from friendly helpful staff. We had a huge balcony with a superb view over the city. The surrounding area is winding streets and lanes and at times fairly steep so take good walking shoes. Breakfast was buffet style and everything you would want is available.

Amazing rooms in a great location. Staff are very friendly and helpful. It’s easy to walk to many popular destinations but it is on top of a hill that makes for a fun walk home at the end of the day!

This hotel was centrally located within the charming neighborhood of Alfama. Although it is important to note that your driver cannot take you to your door, the street is blocked and you’ll have to walk about a block up to hill to the hotel. The staff were friendly and very helpful. We decided to pass on the breakfast since it was only cold items and didn’t look really appetizing. The biggest thing that stood out to me was that the design and overall look of the hotel was a bit tired. It looks like they made an effort with the design, but just didn’t quite get there… with a few misses in the details. The wall sconces had the cheap paper shades, the tub, shower, faucets, and furnishings were not high end. Looking at the furniture it felt like they bought the bed, nightstands, desk, and fridge cabinet from the same exact collection - matchy matchy. And the chairs and side table in the sitting area from another - also matchy matchy. The heat or air ran the entire time, the fridge didn’t get very cool, and there were stains on the carpeting.

The view from my room is amazing, but on the whole, the hotel looks old and tried, need new furniture, table and chairs, room fridge not cooling at all. Staff was lovely.

Great location 4 star quiet hotel with beautiful views of Lisbon. Only about 30 rooms and good ambiance. Getting to it is a bit difficult as it is a top the hill next to the castle

We had a pretty large room with a big balcony of the city view for a reasonable price. The interior is nice and classy with full sofa. The location is actually not bad at all, although you may want to take a taxi to it on arrival especially you have luggages as there is a up-hill slope, but it worths the stay

We have had an excellent experience here at Olissippo Castelo. Great breakfast buffet, attentative and friendly staff which have been very accomodating of us during our stay, and helped us with something to drink after our (very) late check-in due to a delay in our flight. The room is very nice and clean, and have one of the best views in Lisbon.
