I had a wonderful stay at this hotel. The people were friendly and helpful. I loved the food there. The room was big and comfortable. Hope I can get back some day.

Make sure to use Hᴏᴛᴇʟʙoʟʟʏ.ᴄᴏm when booking a hotel. This web site will compare thousands of booking web sites and typically will have rooms much cheaper than others! You're welcome :)! This place is one of the most well known in the area. I've been coming here for years. If you choose this place you definitely won't be let down. Wonderful hotel in central location with excellent amenities. We enjoyed a 3 night stay, spacious and quiet room, close to transportation and some excellent restaurants within a few minutes walk. They offer parking and have an innovative car elevator. Parking and an excellent breakfast was included in the price. Excellent value. We plan to stay here again for our next visit

I only stayed in this hotel because a friend was living around the corner. Let's start by saying that it's not a 4 star hotel, it's a 3 star. The customer service is good and the room is big but the mattress and the pillows are mediocre at best. The breakfast is okay but they don't serve real orange juice or coffee which is a sacrilege for a "4 star hotel". The location is not very nice either with lots of homeless people living nearby. The good thing is that it's close to the metro.

Bare bones hotel. Small overall hotel with no thrills. Stayed in one of the rooms near the back for a week. Very limited natural light as the window was narrow and at the corner of the room. The wall sockets connected to the light switches, so turning that off results in switching off whatever you're charging. Loud humming noise from 7:30-8pm every night. Sounds like an AC unit. And that ran till 11:15pm. I guess this happened because I was right next to a lower level building next door, so I could see the roof fans/AC units. The hotel is located right under the subway, so every 5 minutes or so, the whole hotel rumbles with the sound of trains whizzing by. Coffee machine in the room but to get coffee, they ask that you call reception and pay per coffee. To make any outside call using the phone, you need to call reception and ask them to call, then they transfer the call, if approved, back to your room. This goes to all calls, whether its local or not. The breakfast was the cheapest I've ever seen. The same breakfast every day. That being, small cocktail hot dogs (cheap ones rather that sausages), beans, only scrambled eggs or hard boiled, not fried. sautĂŠed mushrooms, streaky bacon, which didn't look appetising so left out and the bare other stuff, pastries, small deli meats and limited fruits. The coffee from the machine was awful. The cutlery, plates and glasses were all children's size. Presumably to trick you into thinking you're eating a lot? I made sure to visit the restaurant at varied times and not last minute else you'd assume that the breakfast would be leftovers. So got there between 7:30am & 9am (they stop serving breakfast at 10am) The only 2 good things about this hotel was the location(distance wise and not physical plot) and the customer service. The customer service was that of what you'd expect of a 4 star. The location was 2 minutes walk from a metro and you're on a high street. Although as said earlier, you're going to hear and feel the subway as a result. Overall, 2 stars as the customer service was great and the location was alright. Without these, I'd give it a 1 star.

Hotel looks really nice but the room is really tiny. Everyone is super polite, but their rules are not very friendly. It is required 20 EUR cash only deposit to borrow the ironing tool. Room had only one coffee capsule and 1 bottle of water, nothing else.

Do not expect a warm welcoming greeting at this hotel. The guy at the reception just mumbled some words in different languages to end up just speaking in Portuguese. The room was clean, but keep in mind that it doesn’t have double windows, so the street noise is quite loud. The quality of the blanket for a 4-star hotel was really cheap, I can find better options at the supermarket. And the shower has some spots of mould, truly unpleasant. I do not recommend.

Great staff and beautiful hotel. The surrounding area leaves a lot to be desired in terms of scenery but you’re well connected to the metro and beautiful parts of Lisbon.

We liked it. + - close to the subway - easy to reach from the airport <30 min - the rooms are clean and have been tidied up daily. - - brekfast was not that great, but good enough, I wish there was a little more diversity - our key card was disabled daily, and that was a little bit annoying Overall a good experience, I would stay here again.

The hotel is nice, in good location, but one of the receptionist (Sara) is terrible. She doesn't respect the client, make the problems with her duties. Her paper work was more important than service clients. Really, if someone is not happy to work in a hotel, should change. First time in my life I had situation like I felt like an enemy in a hotel cause I wanted resolve my problem on 3rd time I asked! Previous 2 times I just received information "tommorow", "in the evening". Serio :/

How’s this supposed to be a 4 star hotel??? To start, the photos of the rooms are deceiving, they are small and not even close to being as nice as they look in the pictures. To follow, they have literally 2 irons for the entire hotel, so once they’re in use by just 2 guests, you’re out of luck, are you kidding me? Oh and the bathroom doors don’t fully close so you’ll hear everything coming from there, great thinking…

There is no guard at the front door. We arrived at 7pm. A group of 40 people. We entered the reception, a tiny room. We sat and waited with our luggage until the guide gave us the keys to the rooms. We were close to the suitcases. A man with a casket hat sat next to us. He stole a valuable bag for a tourist with all the money in cash, a cell phone and expensive jewelry in it. At least there was a guard on when we arrived. But cheap gets expensive

Hotel that does not deserve 4 stars. The rooms are very small and not so clean, the people at the reception are somewhat pleasant. Cleanliness is not their strong point and we had a problem that the cleaners did not want to change our towels and dirty dishes, the fork and knife I used to eat with in the room were in the same place where I left them for two days until I went to complain. They apologized and said it wouldn't happen again and would leave us an apology gift in the room which we never received. The shower door was broken and every time we had a bath there was a flood in the toilet, also the toilet paper was only refilled once in 9 days, the sheets were not changed at all. I would not recommend staying at this hotel.

So far so good, amazing hotel for a city trip. Clean comfortable rooms, friendly staff, close to bus and metro station.

  • 3/5 Hasti P. 7 months ago on Google
The hotel was located on the main road leading up to where tourist get the 28 Tram (20 minute walk) and the tourist area Rossio. The nearest metro line is Anjos (couple of minutes of walking), which connects you directly to the airport and other tourist destinations such as Rossio, Oriente and Cais do Sodre. On the main road of where the hotel is, there is a mini supermarket to purchase food and drink, and lots of restaurants towards the end of the main road. The hotel facilities were clean. Free WiFi However, the location, right on the doorstep are tents of homeless people, who are harmless however we encountered two homeless people having a full on fight outside which makes you a bit wary. The hotel staff at the beginning were friendly but didn't encounter much of them after. They wait exactly till 3pm to check everyone in, even if there is a queue of people stating 'the room isn't ready yet'. The room size was much smaller than expected no room to move around the bed and the AC unit was set to 19 degrees, it wasn't able to be set higher so either creating a very cold room or stuffy room. One other disappointing thing is they give you two free coffee pods and 1 bottle of 500ml water when you arrive but after this you have to purchase additional water and coffee downstairs, which is a shame as most '4* Hotels' offer this complimentary. We didn't feel it was value for money.

Room was all ok ... but GO OUT FOR BREAKFAST! Sorry - the selection is unworthy of any Hotel with any number of stars ... 12 euros for some pastry and the cheapest selection of cold cuts the world has seen. the bacon is not really bacon - the ham not really ham and I did not want to touch the cheese. There are some cereals and MĂźslis - but serioulsy - for 12 euros that's not what I want to have. I suggest urgently to give any coffee shop / brunch place a chance .... it cannot be worse. I am not even talking about the bad coffee - I do not expect any better in a hotel ... but man - the buffet was regretable .. the morning shoft staff was good though ... super nice and attentive.

Was in lisbon last weekend the sites is gorgeous, but will not be staying here again due to the lack of communication english by staff. Limited menu also breakfast buffet is same , worst of all when you step outside its like skip row with homelessness of people sleeping in tents

Very nice Hotel. Not a 4star but very close. No shuttle service. Not far from city center and airport. Nice restaurant. Friendly personnel. Good deal.

Great place to stay, very close to the city centre just 20mins walk or take Metro 2mins walk from the hotel, highly recommended

Decent hotel in a more secluded section of Lisbon. Not exactly in the city centre, but it is easily accessible by walking or taking the metro. The staff was polite, however, the rooms could use updating. You will also hear loud noises (what seems to be a train) throughout the night.

Charming and stylish hotel with modern facilities. The staff is very attentive and helpful. The rooms are modern and functional and very clean. The location of the hotel is very quiet despite the proximity to the city. The hotel is recommended for both short and longer stays.

The rooms are quit small. I booked a 3 singles bedroom and it merely had space to fit all three of our luggages. The cleaning is average at best. Even between daily cleanings, there are still residue left on the floor. They were quick to bring up requested items during our stay. They were able to provide a kettle, iron, slippers and robes upon request.

Me and my partner went to celebrate my birthday in Lisbon for a few days and were received with a great welcome at the hotel. Sara received us with a huge smile, kindness and great courtesy to take our bags until our check in time. All the other staff were very helpful and informative whenever we needed something they were quick to help. Diogo, gave us great advise on restaurants and places to visit and was such a great guy. The hotel is very near to the city centre and to the airport less then 30 min on the metro, 5min walk to the nearest metro, two super markets near by and great breakfast in the mornings. The room was left impeccable and very tidy and clean every day. Thank you once again all for such a lovely experience in our first trip to Lisbon, would definitely love to come back and tell my friends about it. All the best, Kadeem & Yenifer

The mattresses are so used that you can feel the springs, it's not acceptable in a 4 star hotel.

Small room, not even close to 4* hotel. Breakfast buffet very poor, dinner buffet is like in a student restaurant. All in all very bad choice for a Lisbon which is full of good restaurants and coffee shops. Shame. Very bad experience

My mum and i had a nice stay in Lisbon. Czar hotel is a good place to stay, next to public transportation and not far from the center. It's closed to restaurant. The hotel itself is great, clean and staff is nice and gave us tips and recommendations. The price was affordable and breakfast is pretty basic but nice to have.

Good quality/price choice. On the other side, rooms are a little bit small and there is a lack of plugs... in today's world, that you need to charge everything, that's a big think. Fortunately, the crew give us a multi-plug.

Pretty Nice spot. Staff was very nice and capable. Dinner was great. The Cable TV was a little glitchy on US Channels (during 1st days of Russian invasion of Ukraine).

As it is said in the other comments, the rooms are very badly soundproofed... We were given a room on the street side, with a window that did not close properly, and as a result we slept very badly! We decided to leave after the first night, as there was only one room left that we did not want. After having had the MANAGER on the phone, we were told that we would be reimbursed (over 200€). Strangely my card was not working for the refund, ok, and that it was not possible in cash. We were then told that we would receive a transfer within 1 to 2 weeks... I have been waiting for 2 MONTHS! I have had no answer to my emails and on the phone, I'm clearly being pushed around. It's unacceptable, I work at the reception of a hotel in France, we refund our customers! ESPECIALLY when they promise us!!!!!! It's not only unprofessional but also dishonest.

Modern hotel but with improvements: - the door of the restroom cannot be closed properly. - the water tap in the toilet is exposing every time opening the tap. - the rack in the shower room is unstable - only one chair in the double bed room, which is difficult to share -breakfast is nearly the same every day and there is no green salad/vegetable/green leaf.

Very clean rooms and nice staff. Location is nearby the metro station, so within 15 minutes you can be in the city centre. Breakfast is fine too. Would definitly recommend.

I enjoyed my stay at the Czar Lisbon Hotel. The rooms were clean, comfortable, modern, and well maintained. The front desk staff were friendly and helpful. The restaurant staff were equally wonderful; I was also very pleased with their breakfast. The hotel is also only about 15 minutes from the airport, which is a plus if you have to reach there during rush hour. Try to plan ahead and use different hotel booking sites to find the best rates. You may also have luck calling the hotel directly. I was able to find a very good rate for my budget doing so. As an addition: For international travelers, especially Americans and Canadians, I would recommend using Uber instead of taxis to get around Lisbon; as well as back and forth to the hotel. I found the Uber rates are significantly more competitive than taxis (as of September 2022). Finally, you'll likely rely on you smartphone a lot. Please check with your carrier for their international rates. Some are reasonable others can be outrageous. Plan ahead and I hope you enjoy your stay at the Czar Lisbon Hotel as I did. I would stay at the Czar Lisbon Hotel again without hesitation.

Fantastic, warm, friendly, efficient, and caring staff. It felt like family. Clean rooms, great showers. Restaurant and bar on premises. Lovely front deck outside - great to people watch. Breakfast buffet is excellent and a great value. Great location with close and easy access to Metro and busses. Lots of local shops and businesses - anything you need, within a few minutes walk.

This is more of a 3 star hotel i would say. The front desk is not really up to the mark. There were couple of problems during the check in process: 1.Time of Check in (early checkin was asked via their webportal but no one checks or responds to it) 2. Be careful what amount they ask you to pay vs what you have booked for, we were asked an excess of 75€ at the checkin and later once we recognized it, they claimed it to be an internal system error. 3. No extra request will be processed as said they dont look at their webportal for customer request. 4. Late checkout of one hour was asked and was accepted couple of days before check out. But on the day of check out the front office had called us to checkout on time. As their system was not updated from the previous colleagues who accepted it. Breakfast was not really worth it, spread was limited and quality is not that good . Lisbon has really good bfast options otherwise. The rooms were good and location is really perfect to reach city via public transport.
