IMPORTANT
TIP:
note
that
TURIM
is
a
group
of
hotels
offering
a
whopping
14,
yes,
that
is
fourteen,
hotels
in
Lisbon
itself!
Make
sure
you
keep
track
of
the
“suffix”
of
the
name
so
that
you
don’t
make
the
same
rookie
mistakes
as
we
made
and
make
it
to
the
accurate
location.
Unlike
my
typical
MO,
during
this
five-day
countrywide
trip
was
completely
ad
hoc,
without
planned
destinations,
schedules
or
reservations.
We
only
knew
where
we’d
be
staying
once
we
got
there.
As
became
our
routine,
we
would
be
arriving
to
Lisbon
in
the
early
morning
(around
1:30
am)
without
a
place
to
sleep.
With
minimal
connectivity
and
a
lot
of
struggles,
I
managed
to
reserve
a
night
at
TURIM
–
perfect!
We
get
there
after
lugging
our
baggage
through
the
dark
streets
of
Lisbon
and
awaken
the
half-asleep
concierge.
He
kindly
punched
in
our
information
into
his
computer
and
then
apologetically
explained
that
my
reservation
was
for
the
following
evening
(i.e.,
check
in
that
afternoon…
rookie
mistake
since
I
was
basing
it
on
the
current
date).
Nearly
in
tears
(nearly,
ok,
nearly)
I
asked
him
if
there
was
any
possibility
that
they
still
had
a
room
for
this
evening.
After
much
punching
around
in
his
system,
looking
deeply
in
thought
and
hmming
a
few
times,
he
finally
gave
us
the
good
news
“indeed!”
So,
we
get
to
the
hotel
room
which
was
just
fine
and
apparently
at
two
in
the
morning,
my
boyfriend
wants
to
get
something
to
drink
from
like
a
convenience
store.
Well,
my
fellow
tourists…
this
is
not
the
United
States
and
there
are
not
7-Elevens
around
every
corner.
After
walking
around
for
an
hour
and
half,
at
2:50
am,
we
did
find
an
Indian
fast-food
place
that
was
open
until
for
five
more
minutes.
We
subsequently
got
lost,
ran
into
cops
that
helped
us
back
on
our
path
and
at
around
3:30
we
arrived
at
TURIM,
exhausted
and
starving.
After
about
half
a
second
we
realized
that
it
was
indeed
the
TURIM
hotel,
but
it
was
not
the
one
we
had
arrived
at
a
few
hours
earlier.
Nobody
seemed
to
be
around
to
answer
questions,
not
even
a
half-sleeping
concierge.
Hopeless,
aggravated,
irritated
and
sore,
we
sat
down
to
gulf
down
what
was
still
a
decent
Indian
gyro
and
discuss
our
next
plan
of
attack.
Out
from
the
Sheraton
(I
think)
next
door
to
this
TURIM
a
taxi
materialized
out
of
nowhere.
I
got
up
and
looking
like
psychotic
high
homeless
people,
we
somehow
convinced
the
taxi
to
stop.
After
a
few
minutes
of
conversation,
he
smiled
and
explained
that
we
weren’t
THAT
off
course
and
just
a
mere
few
minutes
later
and
about
$4
euros
lighter
(that’s
it?)…
we
found
our
resting
place.
We
did
not
care
what
it
looked
like,
how
old
it
was
or
whether
it
was
clean…
only
to
see
the
friendly
smile
of
the
concierge
letting
us
back
in
at
nearly
four
in
the
morning
to
get
a
few
hours
of
much
needed
sleep
before
our
next
adventure.
I
recommend
this
hotel;
it
is
in
a
good
location
and
obviously
friendly
and
accommodating.
Just
learn
from
my
mistakes,
please!
PS.
For
obvious
reasons,
I
do
not
have
photos
to
share.
