Interesting exhibits. Light improper. Need repairing on walls, windows, doors. Looks like no investment done in the last 10 years 😒

In addition to many royal carriages, there are also historic fire engines. Few visitors, free with the Lisboa Card. Only the lighting is suboptimal for the photos.

The National Coach Museum is divided in two museums, the old one and new one. The old one is the former riding arena and displays some old coaches, gear and information about the royal family. Additionally to that they currently also have an exhibition abour firefighters and their equipment dating back to the medieval ages, with lots of interesting text and stories. If you're keen on visiting both museums, don't visit on a Monday nor Tuesday as on each day at least one of the two is closed.

Very nice museum with a lot of history and a huge selection of coaches. Royal, post, prisons and even the birth of bus type of transport. Big place. It closes at 6pm and the last ticket is sold at 5:30pm. At least it takes 1 hour but if you're really short on time 30 min works still. Just not enough time to "digest" all that there is to take. We went just before 5pm and had enough time to visit. Also at this time there were not many people so there were no queues.

It's cool for what it is but we only really came here because it was free with our Lisboa Card and we were in the neighborhood visiting the Tower of Belem and Jeronimo monastery.

The collection in the new building of the Carriage Museum in Belém is one of the most important in Europe. From royal carriages to clergy, postal, everyday and children's carriages, the collection is extensive, absolutely impressive and worth seeing.

Great gem of a museum to visit. If you don't have time for the big coach museum, at least do the riding school one on the street!

Absolutely gorgeous exhibits. I think the price is a bit exaggerated...but the exhibits are superb

It's an interesting museum for sure! Not only can you see the old coaches but also other things like portraits of old kings and swords. It was completely empty. I really don't understand why people don't want to see this type of museum.

It was great to be able to observe the details of each choche as well as its evolution from the oldest (1619) to the newest at the time.

Part of the Lisboa pass. Really cool stop off on the way to the monastery and Tower of Belem.

Old building where in days gone by the aristocrats of Lisbon used to enjoy indoor equestrian sports. Old carriages and portraits to see, and interesting explanations including in English language. Separate room included with historic fire engines/carts.

Large selection of wagons, from various years, and makes. The fire department ones were very interesting.

More interesting than we thought. Our children got into it and had a very nice time. There are many coaches that were used by the Portuguese royalty, plus a prisoner coach, and a mail coach.

Really not all that exciting sadly. The main room is only half full with exhibits, the second room was so dimly lit that I couldn't see the exhibits or writing properly, and for some reason a member of staff followed me around half the time, which was quite off-putting. I'm glad I didn't pay extra to go to the modern part of the museum

Such an amazing collection of royal coaches, and incredibly well-preserved. Excellent examples of royal livery, horses' harness, and other travel memorabilia. Lovely docents. Definitely off the regular tourist itinerary, but well worth it!
