This place is sort of a flip of a coin - either you get everything or nothing. Have been here two times. First time - 5 stars, second - 1. The last visit was so frustrating that overall I am giving 2 stars. I see different reviews here but my friend and I visited this place in February 2022 and we enjoyed Vela Latina quite a lot. We actually came maybe 15 mins earlier than the place had to open but the barman kindly greeted us and let us in. Design of the place is stunning. Prices for the drinks are one of the highest I have witnessed in Lisbon (even comparing to cocktail specialised bars) but the cocktails were exactly what we paid for. Overall, from my experience, this is a very cool place in a great location in Belem, fantastic design, superb service and delicious cocktails. Plan to come back again to check whether this place is always as good and whether food is as impressive as their cocktails. P.S. I updated the review and lowered the rating to 2 stars because when I arrived with my partner to this place again to share unique experience, it turned out to be very awkward. This time it was in May at 7:30 pm. We were told at entrance to the part with a nice bar and a restaurant that the kitchen would open half an hour later. Some people were already sitting in but we were not offered that. Instead a hostess led us to their terrace which is quite mediocre and can belong to any place you wouldn’t recollect. We had a look at the menu - only wine (about €5-6 per glass of wine or a selection of bottles which we was inconvenient, as we actually wanted to have their cocktails) and plates of meat and cheese for €12. So upon quick consideration we decided to leave an ordinary terrace with quite expensive prices, boring design, unimpressive service. Especially as it was windy and there was nothing to keep us interested in staying there. Won’t give it another try.

I have mixed feeling about this place. Our waitress was lovely and provided us with superb service. Food was fantastic but pricey. There was no bathroom facility in the smaller part of restaurant and we had to go to main restaurant for this but overall good restaurant

Very nice find while walking about in Belem Tower. We enjoyed outdoor dining with views of the marina, and impeccable service. For starters we sampled trio of seafood pate and cheese board followed by entree of fresh, pan-seared scallops with pumpkin puree and spinach. Wonderful!

Wir haben nach einem Wein gefragt um mehr zu erfahren der Kellner wusste alles über den Wein und hat alles dazu gesagt was gesagt werden musste.(deshalb verstehe ich die eine oder andere Rezession hier nicht) wir haben auf englisch kommuniziert und es war sehr gut wie wir auf Englisch beraten wurden sind. Getränke und essen kamen zügig keine ewige Wartezeit obwohl der Laden gut besucht war und die Terrasse ausgebucht war zur Mittagszeit. Ambiente im Restaurant Innenbereich wo wir Saßen einzigartig Einrichtung sehr modern und zeitlos wir haben im mediterranen Bereich gegessen weil es dort auch im hinteren Bereich asiatische Küche gibt. We were served by around 4 different waiters and all were friendly and nice.

Maybe we got unlucky given the other comments , but we didn't have a good experience here unfortunately. We were left standing for 10mins despite having a booking. When we were eventually seated we were not attended to and had to ask for menus. The food was fine when it came, but the fish was slightly overcooked for our liking (not terrible, but not the best we had on our trip to Lisbon). We did like the atmosphere though - nice decoration and great location by the harbour. It has a lot of promise , but for the price we felt the service and food quality wasn't very good value.

Great food in a very nicely decorated restaurant. Not sure if it’s a typical Portuguese restaurant. It definitely has a wide range of meats and cheeses, however some of the main dishes have a Portuguese Japanese mix, of course they have some steak and salads. We went there for lunch and to be honest for all the food that we had, fried shrimps with garlic, tuna sashimi with sweet potato fries and steak with fried egg and fries, it was not that expensive, taking into account also the location, very close to the Belém Tower, the very nice interior and the nice waitress who spoke well English. All dishes were very tasty, i guess we couldn’t have made a better choice, very nice impressed, well done to the chef. I highly recommend it, especially in a hot summer day.

Really nice place, we just eat appetizers but they were amazing, the croquete was amazing as well as the seafood, the deserts are also really, really good. I can't wait to go back and have a proper meal.

not a 'nouvelle cuisine fan' so my review could be unfair. A quality steak requires some salt and charcoal grill... not to be surrounded by bacon strips (spoiling the flavour) and electric grilling! It's a crime to any bbq fan. Also, for the price, the portions must be bigger or open to re-fill. You can have the best picanha of your life, in a similar atmosphere, for half the price. Again, not a fan of Nouvelle Cuisine to start with.

Avoid this place. The service was horrible, staff was lazy (once they served your food they went missing, ignore your request) and food was below average. We visited Belem Tower and went here for lunch. Nobody greeted us; we and a couples before us went in the dining tables, waited for 10-15 mins for someone to bring the menu and arrange the table. After the food was served, I wanted some ketchup for the fries. Nobody attended, some staffs avoided to make eye contact. I went to a bar to request explicitly and the answer was “sorry no sauce, there is no sauce”. I didn’t buy the answer and requested another waitress later. In summary, ketchup was given to me 20min after the steak and chips were served. Water, yes they charged a whole bottle and only served me the first time (they disappeared and took the bottle away so each of us only had small sip of water for the meal).
