I don’t usually go in restaurants located in high street/touristy places, but reviews are very good so our expectations were high. Turned out to be very disappointing. Food is below average, we were looking forward for the paella just because was mentioned a lot in the reviews but it only tasted of tomato rice. I do not recommend. Staff were nice

Super friendly restaurant with excellent service and tasty food. The waiters were all very friendly and gave us a free cherry sout alcohol ginja each at the end of our meal. This place was busy but still kept its professionalism and high level of service. Highly recommend.

I had lunch with my friend in this small calm restaurant. I had seafood soup, mixed salad and sangria. The soup was very tasty and nutritious, so only the salad and sangria after it was quite a good lunch portion for me. The salad was quite simple, but tasty. I was also pleased by the Youzin's service, thanks a lot! We got the ginga drink as a compliment :)

Our server, Youzin was so helpful and friendly! Their paella is full of ingredients and flavors, and most importantly, not salty at all. Highly recommended.

Good food as expected! Don’t forget to try gambas guilo which was really good! The Portuguese server don’t speak english but you can feel his politeness! The seafood paella was so good I visited twice along with my friends! It has prawn( peeled) , mussels, clams, and calamari! For dessert we tried home made chocolate mousse and padtel de nata(egg tart). Defoe sure it was worth it! Thankyou for your hospitality! And additionally they do accept card payment!

The best restaurant in Lisbon Center, Cozy, familiar and really Portuguese, the food was amazing, I ate a vegetarian paella, I end it up full, it was really tasty, I loved the sangria. Perfect price, place and quantity.

We waited for more than hour for mediocre food; and the restaurant was not even full. Poorly managed tourist trap; not a single Portuguese to be seen. Don’t waste your time.

Very nice staff, they speak english very well and are very receptive. We have tried paella, sangria and wine; sangria did not impress us, the food was good and tasty, but the portion size was very small for 20E.

This is a great restaurant to come to for a delicious meal. The atmosphere is really comfortable and relaxing and the service is great. Youzim took good care of me and he often checked up on me to make sure everything was to my expectations. The octopus was really good, I would highly recommend this restaurant and I will be back again. Thank you!

It was fantastic food and the service. All the waiters were great, and specially a waiter, Youzin was very professional and kind. And they gave us house digestive drinks after a meal and it was fabulous. The food, the service and the atmosphere were all great. If I have chance, I will definitely come back for other food that I haven’t tried yet.

We had to sit outside the toilet which always smells. They don’t have any ventilation so your meal is ruined. The service is very slow. We ordered paella and had to wait an hour for the dish to arrive. The paella was very old and not fresh, and super dry..

The vegetable soup and seafood soup were hearty. I like the seafood rice and octopus rice. Squid ink paella was also good. My family was well taken care of by Youzin.

Excellent local cuisine, Portuguese customers, most of them know each other. Very friendly service and atmosphere. Delicious dishes and daily freshly home-made desserts. And wait to see the bill - we couldn't believe how reasonable price we paid for two persons lunch with a bottle of Vinho Verde

Delicious! Came here with my family and every dish was delicious. I recommend the Bacalao a la Brasa, and the soup of the day! Such a great homemade meal! Such a cozy, family environment, local vibe - very close to Plaza del Comercio but hidden from the tourist crowd. We were greeted at the end with a local drink by Youzin. Gracias!

(Translated by Google) The restaurant is in a small alley parallel to the main street of the business. The facade is very small, very inconspicuous, and there is no annoying behavior. The menu is only available in Portuguese. The menu is updated weekly/monthly. The waiter will speak a little English. Although the communication is difficult, the attitude is very good. The restaurant offers very delicious and authentic Portuguese local dishes. The price is very cheap, the main course is about 10 euros, the wine is about 2 euros, and it is incredibly cheap in this commercial center. highly recommended!

Service was extremely long : 1h to get our mains. Food was average : polvo rice only tasted coriander, and the paella negra had a strange taste of beer. Atmosphere : nothing special, but nice vintage vibes. Staff was extremely friendly but unfortunately, nothing to make us forget the rest of the experience.

Unfortunately, the Paella was not very good and had no bacalao inspite of being told that it had bacalao. There were 4 shrimp 2 valley rings 3 mussels and 3 baby clams for$18.50 This restaurant is the perfect example of why I rarely eat in touristy areas.

My favorite restaurant in Lisbon!! I can't find worlds to praise the seafood rice here. It's THE best seafood rice I have ever had. So fresh, so yummy, and the size is big enough for 1 person! We also tried the octopus rice and it was also very good. We stayed in Lisbon for a few days and we came back 3 times :) If you are into seafood rice, don't hesitate, just go to this restaurant

Such a good local restaurant with cheap prices. The place was super busy and we came in without a reservation and they still gave us a table. The service is great and the food came quick. Definitely a place to try when in Lisbon!! The shrimp spaghetti was 10/10 and the seafood rice was amazing too!

I came here because it was recommended(?) the other restaurant i was going to, and it was so delicious, friendly, and reasonably priced so I was so satisfied. I often don’t leave Google reviews, but I just wanna say thank you again to our server “Sam” who was so nice and kind. I loved the potato and vegetables in the cod fish dish.

If you want to eat the best Octopus in the city, well, that's your choice to made! All the dishes were good; even the claims were very good. The owner was really kind and found a seat for us even if the restaurant was nearly full. The value for money is good for the quality of the dishes and the generous portions. Highly Recommended!

Simple, fresh, and delicious, a must go for true Portuguese food. Staff was also very warm--he understood me just fine even though I spoke no Portuguese. We had the cod fish stew (cozido), cheese, a half liter of amazing wine, 2 ports and a beer for 22.90 Euro.

Very authentic Portuguese restaurant where not a hint of English is spoken or written. Not at all touristy. Food was really good and reasonably priced. Solid spot.

Tasty food, decent prices. Place looks like it was taken directly from 90's, seems like a meeting point for the locals. Nobody in the staff speaks a word in English, nor have they a menu in English - but you get a printed copy of multilingual vocabulary and you can have fun checking what to eat :P. Generally, it's a nice place, food is very tasty, but there are some disadvantages as well.

I am really glad to found this restaurant. Food is delicious, and the service is impeccable. Our lovely host, Costodio, took the best care of us. His wine suggestions were perfect, and our Paella was some of the best we have ever had. The restaurant is very popular, so do make a reservation in advance. It's very worth it. Beautiful, authentic, delicious. I would love to return again!!!

Be carful, not worth the wait! We waited for an hour for the food to arrive. After several reminders we got part of the appetizers. Tables around us got up and left others returned their plates. OVERPRICED! I would have commented the food but we never got it, we left.

We had lunch at Castico yesterday and it was a 10/10 experience! The grilled octopus was one of the best octopus dishes we’ve ever had and the seafood paella was really tasty as well. Our waiter MD has been very friendly and nice and the atmosphere was great! Would definitely recommend 👍🏻👍🏻

Service extremely long with very average cooking. Way overpriced for what you get. Lack of flavour for the paella(forgot to put salt)or the octopus. Noise level unimaginable with 30 screaming kids/adults running around the restaurant like mad house! With no local workers in the restaurant, instead it’s those that has a reputation for being good with computer/internet it makes you doubt the legitimacy of previous good reviews. Tourist trap!!!

  • 5/5 Sylvia H. 6 months ago on Google
Thanks so much Youzin and MD such great service! The food was amazing and our experience was even better thanks to the both of you! We will definitely visit again!

The black paella did not taste like the authentic black paella I had before in Spain. The squid was probably the best dish since it was tender and had decent flavour. However, the rest of the food was pretty poor and just not unique or pleasant. Not to mention the tasteless, dry, stale, rotting bread they terribly cut that had dirt or something on each piece. Honestly one of the worst experiences I have had in a restaurant in Portugal though I have not had many. Very disappointing...

Cute little place. You can make a reservation via Google. Very friendly staff and can help if you have questions. The gambas al ajillo were quite good (and thank you for having peeled and deveined shrimp). Get some bread with it to sop up the sauce. My husband enjoyed the grilled sea bass (served with potatoes and roasted vegetables). The pasta with shrimp was a nice surprise. Slightly Asian flavor and nice portion. I enjoyed the cherry liqueur served after the meal (and heard this was a have to try in Lisbon). We enjoyed our tasty dinner at O Castico.

  • 5/5 Candice L. 2 months ago on Google • 2 reviews New
Absolutely stunning. I would definitely recommend this restaurant. The seafood rice is more soupy when compared to other restaurants, but all the flavors burst in your mouth. I like the grilled sea bream the best. The skin is crispy, and the meat is perfectly grilled. It was the best meal I had in Lisbon!
