This is a small church at the foot of the famous Alfama district. You may notice it as you enter the Alfama from the newer and more touristy Baixa District. Its a nice place though not exactly impressive, which is to say, much like most of what Lisbon, nice but... kinda average. It's free though and offers a cool, shady respite. The altarpiece is well executed but other than that, not too impressive.

Beautiful old cathedral. Visited here 3 years ago and wanted to come see it again. It is worth paying the small admission fee so you can go upstairs and see the church treasures and walk out on the front balcony. Then you can walk around in the main church and see the side altars and tombs of long gone souls. Grgirian chants from the middle ages were quietly playing and I felt like I was going back in time.

Churches are often considered some of the most beautiful and inspiring architectural structures in the world. They serve as places of worship, meditation, and contemplation, and are often imbued with a sense of spiritual significance and historical importance. A good and peaceful place.

I absolutely enjoyed the mass of the last supper in English and following the procession to the altar of repose. The church has a breathtaking views and mass is absolutely interesting every single time I attend.

Awesome little church with beautiful chapels and a cool museum part in the back! Though it's not the best church in Lisbon, and I wish they let you take photos...

I came by during the World Youth Day and the church is breathtaking. The high altar is gorgeous and the 2 side altars depicting the Carrying of the Cross and the Crucifixion are perfect places for praying and contemplating Jesus' hardship and Love for us.

Every time I try to visit, it is closed, despite the schedule saying it should be open. Under renovation?

Interesting spiritual Sunday English mass with visiting people from Virginia, USA. Drums and voices, a variety of nationalities. Church is more decorated inside than the Main basilika.

đź‘Ťđź‘Ť Beautiful place. It's such a pleasure to be here in any season in full sun or under the moon. The Belem tower is awesome ! This fortress in the middle of the Tagus has been the starting point for the navigators who set out to discover the trade routes. The expansive spirit is still present here. En...
