It was the worst service and hospital I have ever been. Don't just say you are doing your job in a hectic ER. Don't treat your patient in such a rude mean way. Don't talk to your patient with a condescending attitude as I don't speak Portuguese. Don't act like your patients are annoying you. I am still absolutely stunned by what I have seen and experienced in San Jose Hospital. It was a heartbroken experience with speechless pain. We had to go to another hospital without seeing any doctors or treatment after waiting over 6 hours. Be careful! Some nurses might yell at you if you have any questions or if you look at them in the hallway without staying in a packed waiting room. They don't care and they won't help you!

This was the worst hospital i have ever seen. Unbearable waiting times even in case of emergency. No hospitality or friendliness or signs of humanity for that matter. I don't wanna blame it only on racism as I am aware that this is probably a multi facetted problem but being foreign did indeed feel like a problem to get proper treatment here. The staff reacted annoyed to everything we said and asked. They couldn't use a medical receipt we got from a hospital right next to lisbon and for giving us a new one - mind you this was a life threatening situation - they let us wait a whole entire day. And when we were finaly, after one wasted day, able to get the medication they completely misordered the dose so we got a daily dose except the ordered dose for two weeks. This is a combination of lack of money and personnel i am sure, but there also has to be a lot of incompetence to get all of the thigs wrong they did.

anyone who calls this a hospital must be mentally challenged. Worst service I have ever seen. I have been to better hospitals in developing countries with higher hygiene standards, and more importantly, faster and more appropriate emergency services. My friend had a severe bleeding at her head and they thought it'd be a nice idea to do the paper work first, rather than actually treating her. If you have any sort of emergency, spare your time and see some professionals rather than those amateurs!

I would like to give it a 0 rating even 0000 yesterday I was in pain and went to the hospital the doctor was so rude and he didn’t even check properly and all the time he was yelling at me because he was on a call . He didn’t even tell me the details about my test results and told me to go to centro saúde for ultrasound. At least tell me why I am in so much pain what is the reason but no. Is this fair I am paying you 28 euros for tests and fee and you are telling me go to centro saúde. We are human beings and most important we are paying tax to live here and you are treating us like nobody.. such a shame. Worse doctor ever👎🏿miguel pinho gil 👎🏿👎🏿👎🏿

In many offices, when a doctor leaves, 2 or 3 more immediately leave, with 1 or 2 attending when they return hours later, they see them together. In short, they don't make a stopover to go and eat, everything goes at the same time and, they wait for many hours, if someone says something It's because they went to work but even so, they don't all need to go to work, in fact we see when they go to work When we entered they said at the triage you're lucky in 15 minutes they're called the doctor has only 4 appointments it took 3 hours Registration was very quick and very attentive. The hospital is very clean, just a horrible smell in the bathroom in the waiting room, Room B, whose door is open, and there is no sign to close the door in the waiting room, the sign-in entrance is cleaner and there are two men and another woman People talk on the cell phone very loudly, no one says anything because the sound of calls is so low that it is difficult to hear the call

The worst place in Lisbon is reception in this “hospital”. I was sent by insurance company here, and guy from 2nd Admissão (Paulo Arujo? Araujo?) was very rude and shouted at me, made me cry. And he used racist remarks as “shame on your country” despite the fact that he does not know the country of my citizenship. Then I took a photo of him and he chased me with a nurse man, grabbed me painfully by the arms and pressed me to the wall, threatening the police and proceedings (for what? for a photo in a public place?) I deleted his photo immediately and he saw this, but he still called the police, continuing to hurt me! the police calmed him down and took him away, but I was left in tears and did not receive any medical help There are lots of (dozens!!!) reviews about racism and rude staff here, Why isn't anyone doing anything about this?

I was at the hospital after I had a hard fall on my knee and I wasn’t able to walk. I came in by ambulance car. The first contact was friendly and very professional. After a acceptable waiting time I got X-ray and CT. A young orthopaedic doctor explained me the result, very friendly and he took his time for me. Fortunately there was nothing broken but the cross band was damaged. A very friendly guy from the customer service organised a crutch for me. This was very helpful because I was on holidays in Lisbon and not familiar where to buy. I’m sure that this friendly service will not be given to a foreign patient in most of the public hospitals in my home country Germany. Of course the waiting time was a little to long, but I was in a public ambulance and not in a privat hospital and finally they gave me the support that I needed most. Thanks to the teams and stay healthy!

If you have any serious injury that requires complex assistance (surgery etc) and if you have any respect for your time and health, take it from a fellow expat - avoid this place at all costs. **It’s only ok for emergency situations… but not all of them too.** when you are better and able to move - get out! That being said, it’s also one of the best public hospitals. So imagine the rest. Protip: don’t count on private hospitals being any better. Unfortunately the poor reviews don’t lie. Portugal is beautiful and cool but it also has its dark side. Pros: most of the medical staff knows English and tries to be helpful despite administrative chaos, the infrastructure is OK for global standards. I’ve seen worse in Poland for example. Cons: staff is composed of unexperienced ppl; they’re kind but have limited knowledge, however they will not admit to it; don’t fall for their pseudoprofessional talk, it’s usually a lie to keep you inside so they can get a subsidy from the gov; one girl asked me to 180 a broken elbow so she could do an xray even though it was not needed. They pretend to heal you by giving you paracetamol etc, the level of medical assistance is at the level of your grandma/mom if you know what I mean The place is overcrowded, there’s no privacy, the equipment is old for 2022 standards, they don’t inform what’s happening to you unless you ask (and then they mostly say some vague things). They keep you in the dark. After 24hrs of no progress I have been discharged like a piece of trash, with tube in my hand; they didn’t give me my X-ray or CT or COVID documentation. In summary: it’s a good place to get fixed if you’re f**** but it can destroy your soul if you stay there longer. Look for an alternative if you have an option or just take paracetamol, pray, lie in bed and wait for a favorable twist if events

Absolutely horrible. 7 hours later we walked out with an IV port still in. Foreigners find a private hospital no matter how sick you are! My friend fell extremely ill. Noro virus, food poisoning...God only knows. After being sick for 5 hours and completely unable to even have water touch her lips without vomiting we called an Uber to get to the nearest hospital. She needed fluids and anti nausea. We arrived at 4:30 am. She couldn't even move except to run to bathroom (has no toilet seat). She was vomiting in the waiting room into a garbage can we brought. Quickly we were taken into triage. Good sign... The staff is cold and unresponsive. We are foreigners. We had only been off the plane a day. We are then moved to another waiting room where we sit for an hour...to be expected. It is emergency after all. Then she is brought into talk to a nurse I assume. He asks questions. Gives her a hard time for taking daily aspirin. Once again we are from the US and it wasn't the time to try to argue her daily protocol. They tell me I have to leave. Ok. I get it. Over an hour later I have no idea what is going on. I finally ask and am let into a room where she is in a chair with about 6 other people. Her fluids are done. But there we sat...for another couple of hours. Nurses or technicians are sleeping with their heads on desks or up right in chairs. No one us giving updates. I am asked to leave because of shift change. Fine. I go back in after 20 min and nothing has changed. The same patients, no one is progressing. I am politely asking for updates. In my own country I would have been screaming and flipping out, but I am fully aware that things are different and I don't want to be a jerk. Finally a nurse sees my quiet tears and probably the exhaustion. We had been up for over 24 hours at this point. He and the doctor he found were the only people I encountered that seemed to have any humanity. Finally the doctor says her fever has come down but NOW they want to run tests? Are you kidding me??? She has been here for at least 6 hours. Why was blood not drawn at the get go? You would think they would want a panel to protect themselves. She could have had HIV, hepatitis or any number of things. Why would they wait so long. Then we are told she has to sit in waiting room and wait a minimum of 2 hours up to 4 hours to get the results. She can barely hold her head up. I ask for a blanket for her. She is soooo sick. She lays across three chairs and falls asleep This room appears pretty gross and believe me no healthy person would voluntarily lie down. Even though I was at 26 hours up at this point I was not laying down. A man walks up, scolds her and tells her to get up. Seats are made for sitting. Are you kidding me???? That was it. We had had it. 7 hours in this place. Potentially 2-4 more hours??? Nope. We left. My friend needed a bed and sleep. We walked out, her IV port still in and got a cab home. They have her phone number and email. We never heard anything. I assume they will contact for billing. She has insurance so no opposition to paying. But WTF??? I honestly have been crying off and on all day from this experience . I consider myself almost a socialist and believe medical care should be a human right. After this I will always want to have some form of private insurance if this is what socialized medicine looks like. I have never seen anything like it. My friend slept all day. We were able to get her broth, tea and some plain noodles. I think she will recover quickly. Really though do not go here if you are used to a good medical system. It is just too difficult and inefficient.

Went to emergency with a psychotic patient. They let us wait 11 hours(!!!!). We asked twice for an update and all we got were unfriendly nurses. Absolutely can not recommend coming here and it’s a shame for Lisbon having a hospital like this. You can only hope not having an emergency when on holiday

I went to emergency around 2am for my broken arm. Long long waiting time. Male nurse was so aggressive and unfriendly. Other stuff and doctor was nice. Huge waiting time make me more sick and tired. Everything done was 8:30am. I had to wait 6 hours and half for see a doctor and took a xrey and took a painkiller. They didn’t charge me, that was amazing. Some stuff can speak English. The place was confusing. They don’t tell you how long you have to wait so I was so worried about they forget me…it was cold during I was waiting.

Appalling. Rude staff (if you only speak English like me, prepare to be dealt with like a third class citizen), disgusting and dirty hospital, one WC for huge waiting area, other parts of the building have crumbling stairs and areas. Waited 5 hours in emergency and had to ask someone twice where I was meant to sit as they just motioned, and again when I asked after 4 and half hours I was told ‘you just have to wait’. I was by myself and could have used some kindness. In the end my facial wounds (from a fall, be careful out there) were disinfected and given little plasters. Could have done it myself at home. No follow up advice given. Rotten. Go if it’s a real emergency but if you can I would try a private place, if I was having something serious like chest pains there’s no way I’d go there if I could avoid it.

Great staff! I had a stone kidney acute episode on the street and the ambulance took me there. Although it was crowded, the medical team was amazing, including doctors, nurses, cleaning staff and security. Those people should be earning way more than the SNS pays them. There are literally heroes working crazy hours for so little.

(Translated by Google) I hereby come to criticize a doctor, from the neuro-critical unit, entitled by Dr. Rui (because he does not mention his last name). In the face of the vicissitudes we are experiencing and asking a relative on the phone "what do you want?" it is a huge folly, and subsequently, a huge lack of education towards the family and the patient who cares. What the family member wants to know is about your loved one. As you should calculate, we do not make calls to find out what color the doctor's eyes are, how he looks or how he is doing his job (because we believe he does his best). It's sad. And it is not the first time that it has happened. Whenever this doctor comes to answer the phone, he speaks with tremendous harshness. We are not obliged to be "mistreated" in this way. I know that you cannot visit the sick. But always, I went with an obligation: to sign papers and background to this situation: invited by a doctor to talk about the condition of my family member (face that I had no priority compared to other family members). I think it is cruel, and given the situation we are experiencing, the inequalities that are experienced in the world. I was even told directly: the patient's condition is not terminal. And because I had several priorities in coming here, I will give priority to those who never came. As if I were to blame. I've never been rude. I was always grateful for the excellent job they were doing. And given the history of the situation of my relative who is very serious. I don't want to be benefited at all. But, yes, we all have duties and obligations: mine were done. And I was always available (because that is my role), to be present whenever I was asked. Therefore, I repeat: We are not in a time to be aggressive. To be malformed. To mistreat someone. Whoever sails this boat has to know how to value the pain of family members more than anyone. But above all, the pain of the sick. There must be sensitivity. And I don't speak because I can't go to visit my family member (because I understand). But because they are not ways of talking and frighteningly using coldness towards me or someone else. There must be a union on this boat. If mr. Dr. He is in Bernaut and is no longer able to manage his abilities, in the face of everything we live and he himself watches. Then put it low. Because at no time. And you shouldn't be the only one tired. No other doctor has been so malformed. A real disappointment. Because I work in a hospital, because I treat patients, and because I have a bedridden mother. I was never cold. And yes, there is compassion for others. For the welfare of those on the other side. And mainly being human. And I stay here ... because I am really disappointed. Not with the hospital: with all the setbacks, it manages to respond to all patients. Because we cannot put everyone in the same boat, and I emphasize that apart from the doctor I mentioned, all the other professionals are experts. More respect. And more humanization with the next. My regrets. Inclusive foi-me dito directamente: o estado do doente não é terminal. Nunca me regi há frieza. As minhas lamentações.

Short version: only go if you’re dying Long version: First of thanks to all the nurses and doctors who actually helped. I experienced this hospital as a reflection of the country. An array of extreme feelings throughout my five days there. The waiting times are exhaustingly long. I waited three days to have emergency surgery, with no food and water. Some doctors were extremely rude and arrogant, same goes for nurses. Some nice, some butchers. The halls reminded me of a visit in the medicinal history museum. The building is old, cold, noisy and falling apart. Easily the worst healthcare experience of my life. This is proper third world stuff. Total disgrace for Lisbon/Portugal. Pro Tipp: don’t ever use portuguese public health care.

I was here on April 11, 2024 with my wife who needed acute medical attention. After arriving from the hotel by ambulance, it immediately became clear to me that this was not a hospital as we are used to in the Netherlands. Rarely do you encounter such chaos. They don't stack you up in the waiting rooms. There are no wheelchair spaces. With the exception of two doctors, no one who treats you is interested in you. There was complete chaos in the treatment room where blood was taken and an IV was placed. Everyone just walks in there, much to the annoyance of many patients and doctors. You have to figure out for yourself where to go for your follow-up research. When the announcement is made, it is unintelligible and in Portuguese and often two different messages mixed up. When my wife was sent away after 10 hours, the IV was still in her arm. I removed it myself because I didn't want to go in again for any price. She had also been sitting in her own urine-soiled clothes for 8 hours, which they would change immediately after the discomfort. Please bear with me, there are probably also very good doctors and nurses there, but unfortunately I did not meet them. I hope I never have to be here again.

If you are a foreigner, I recommend you to avoid this hospital. I was waiting almost 5 hours for a consultation that I didn’t receive, even if I paid a tax of 18€. I asked them at one point how much time I am supposed to wait. They told me there are 6 people in front of me. Nothing happened for one hour and I went again to ask. So one hour later they told me 18 people are in front of me. I requested my money back, but they refused to make a refund. The person I spoke with understood English but preferred to translate his answers on computer than to speak…

This was the worst hospital experience I’ve ever had. I was in anaphylactic shock, losing consciousness, and nurses were yelling at me for bothering them. Refusing to see me, though I knew that I was 10 minutes away from actually dying. Only when a Portuguese mom stepped in did a nurse agree to see me. I was placed in a room with 30 others and the horrors I saw in those rooms, will scar me for life. Even when I was passing out, losing blood pressure and warning them that I was on the brink of death, they stared at me and walked away. I have never seen such inhumanity and do not wish this experience on my worst enemy. This was the worst hospital experience I have ever had. While in Lisbon last week I needed surgery. From the moment I entered the door to when I left I was so well taken care of. The nurses and Dr's can speak English (mostly) and everyone I met went out of their way to make me comfortable and cared for. The hospital may not be the most modern but is scrupulously clean. Beds changed daily. Clean bed clothes and towels daily - Irish hospitals could learn from them. They prefer to provide pj's, slippers, gowns and towels daily to avoid infection. I won't carry on but for anyone who finds themselves in this situation - relax and you will be well taken care of. Home now - recuperating. Feeling better daily. I cannot praise the care I received highly enough.

(Translated by Google) In April 2020, RTP commented that this Sta Marta / Lx Hospital was without patients because it did not accept patients with Covid. Cardiovascular patients only. I saw the consultation of 2 June 2020 changed and until today, 1108/2020, nothing more. I underwent exams related to Vascular Surgery on 05/13/2020. So it's not about Covid. But I call the your attention to the terrible Telephone Service. For 45 minutes I waited for them to answer. Then there was another 45 minutes of waiting. I gave up. It is a pity and must correct those who have the form and power to do so. Friendliness is important. Someone's incompetence, Inadmissible. It was founded in 1890. It's not often you provide a review for a place that saved the life of a family member but that's exactly the case here. A member of my family had a life-threatening neurological event that was treated with care and at the highest standard you could ask for while we were on vacation in Lisbon. The neurology critical care team (Neurocriticos) team was superb. Upon our return to the U.S., neurosurgeons here confirmed that the coiling procedure done was exactly the way they would have approached it and we will be forever thankful for this superb outcome. The reason this isn't a five-star review is the delay in the ambulance taking us to the hospital, where we waited 50 MINUTES in the Alfama district to be driven less than 3 Km to Hospital de Sao Jose. Surely it might have been a busy night with critical cases but we've never experienced this in the United States. In addition, their ability to triage my family member's case was slow. But once triaged, the care they received was stellar. From the critical operations that were done to the care she received in the ICU. We will be forever grateful and owe a debt of gratitude to the Neurocriticos team. Socialized medicine may be bureaucratic, but the level of training and skill of specialists here is truly outstanding. Some of Portugal's best doctors work at their prestigious public university hospitals. In this case, the public hospital was a better choice over nearby private clinics.

Racist people at the reception ( like most of the public sectors in Lisbon). I can quote a statement given by one of the staff "Go back to the country where you are from". Long waiting times, poor maintenance and Rude nurses. If you are an immigrant I suggest taking private health care sector because no one cares in the public sector.

Yesterday I went to this hospital because I accidentally twisted my ankle so I wanted to check that nothing was broken. I had a visit from a doctor and x-rays. The doctor and the staff were kind and they also spoke English. Being an EU citizen I only paid 18€. In total, it took me one hour and luckily at the end they told me it was just a sprained ankle. Just remember to take your health card if you’re an EU citizen otherwise you pay over 100€.

I had an urgency and ran to this hospital. First time I needed to see a doctor in Lisbon. The staff was helpful and objective, and everything was fast, efficient and cheap. I saw an Otorhino, a proctologist and did blood exams all within a matter of an hour and it cost me 20 euros (but to have this price you need to have some special credentials). My case was sensitive, and the doctor was very kind. She solved my problem and referred me to another doctor that I needed to see. Again, the doctor was very kind. No complaints.

Spend more time there, as I planned to, during my Erasmus stay but I have to say the service is amazing. Compared to Germany, I felt so stunned by the health management system in Portugal. I applied for the número do utente (SNS number) at my Centro saúde and didn’t had to pay for any hospital visit. Only for the taxes of Portugal. I am so grateful to have been able to be eligible for such a service. I never been misdiagnosed and even though my Portuguese was really bad, I always was well taken care of. Thank you all so so much! You guys made my Erasmus stay during covid less scary ❤️❤️❤️❤️ P.S. the only bad thing about it, is that you can’t phone or contact the balcão! I still owe this hospital 5€ and I have no clue how to pay them lol

I arrived on a Saturday at Emergency at 14:11 because I had a scooter accident and I wanted to make sure I didn’t fracture or chip anything. I live in Germany and just had to give my health insurance / EHIC card. They have an intuitive number system upon arrival and quickly checked me in, another short wait and I was with triage. They have a colour system for urgency. I was green / non-urgent. I was assigned a waiting room and a moment later called for X-Rays which were quickly done. Ten minutes later I was with the doctors who had checked the Xrays and confirmed nothing is broken and I am good to go. Most staff spoke english and all were as kind an accommodating as possible for likely overworked public hospital staff. I was out by 15:20. If you need stitches or greater medical attention, the wait is significantly longer, but this is the case at most hospitals on a weekend.

1- a delay in calling them to admit them, a desire to work like only God. 2- for screening they ask for the symptoms that were already mentioned upon admission and give a bracelet in the color of the severity of the symptoms. 3- it takes 40 minutes for the doctor to call you via password and if you are receiving medication, you can wait another 30/40 minutes too. And I was still embarrassed because they didn't respect my social name, so I had to ask them to call me by my password number.

Impressive. Had to go to A&E due to a sprained ankle. I was seen by a radiologist, a doctor and sent home within 90 mins (including X-ray). Quick and clear process. More efficient than NHS A&E back in the UK.

7 hours waiting at the emergency, no info, wrong expectation, covid test done but test if the disiase is virus or barcterial they dont know as they dont perform any test.. then they offer antibotics if you want, but they are unsure if that will help as they dont know the cause.. silly and amateur

It was a really bad experience. At first ,it’s an emergency hospital so they should treat their patients as soon as possible.I took my wife at the hospital because she was sick. But,even after waiting for 4 hours, our turn didnt come.My wife was in continuous pain.so when I went to counter to ask them, there was no any response from Staff.I had to go and ask them three times just to ask when our turn was coming.Very bad and rudestaff.Even after paying 18 euro,it’s a shame that they cannot provide good health facility. It’s better to pay little bit more and go to private hospital instead of wasting time here at this hospital.

Very nice public hospital compared to the many others in Lisbon! My friend was seen here quite fast on a Saturday night in the emergency room. I have had to wait over 8hrs at other hospitals in the city before so this was a surprise to me to be seen so quickly.

Please avoid this Hospital specially if you are non português or outside of the Portugal. So they are very careless and stupid and take my money even though I have all of the necessary documents like insurance and everything. I ask them please explain why you charge me. Doctor also told me that you don’t have to pay but cashier woman said no you have to pay so it’s big scams and f🤬 🏥

I was here for the best part of a Sunday following an accident I had. Most personnel I had to deal with were friendly and helpful and spoke some English or made the effort to understand me and make themselves understood. The doctors that took care of me were really good, knowledgeable and caring. They kept me in emergency observation for the whole afternoon and the nurses in the room I was in were outstanding. Much better than the experience I had in a private clinic in Germany.

Had an accident while on vacation resulting in a broken ankle. Despite the large number of patients, all of the employees across the board were extremely friendly and empathetic when providing initial care! Great praise!!!! Of course you have to wait, but it wasn't quite as tragic. I come from Vienna and immediately went to the hospital here. So in your home country you should definitely go to the ambulance immediately. In Lisbon it was said that it was not a tragic break, but here in Vienna things are completely different.

Absolutely not recommended That's the last thing they do with the patients there. Samples are taken from old people but the further treatment... well the old people are 88 years old and not mobile, they have to see how they manage it. Hospitalized ??? No, that doesn't work... But you should drive 70 km... This is completely irresponsible Unbelievable what's going on here in Portugal??? I'm ashamed that I'm Portuguese...

Had a great experience in that Hospital. It was 16th of October, 2023, I had an accident while working and it was bleeding a lot! I went there wrapping my fingers with some tissue papers and waited an hour to be called. Waiting time was a bit boring, but when I met the doctors in emergency, I became satisfied. They applied anesthesia on my fingers to make stitches, and the lady who did the stitches was a bit nervous initially , but she did very well, said sorry every time I felt pain. And the whole team was working together, making fun, trying to make the patients relax. A good team work to witness.

Well organized emergency, excellent service from everyone, be it doctors, nurses, assistants, administrative staff. It is true that sometimes the waiting time is long, but given the hospital's location it is perfectly understandable, it would not be in a private hospital and I have waited a long time in private ones.

Went on saturday 16:00, not too crowded in admission. Couldn't walk properly because of a fall, so nothing life threatening. Even though I am a foreigner and did not speak a word of portuguese, the admission person was very willing to talk to me through google translate. Triage and doctor spoke perfect English. I was through admission, triage, xray and doctor within 1.5 hours! All signs were in English and there were digital displays in the waiting rooms so that you could guestimate when it would be your turn.

I am French and was in Lisbon for tourism. I got C-19 and went to the closest hospital : São José. The medical staff received me very rapidly. Four days later, I had to come back, very weak. I was well treated. The staff did its best to make me feel better. The day after, I had to come back again for more serious problems. I did a panic crisis, and the doctor found the words to got me more peaceful. Never chanced upon a staff member who didn't speak English or Spanish (the other two languages I know) If you have a problem health in Lisbon as a stranger, you can trust São José efficience :) Join me personally if you wanna know more about how good I was treated.

I ve been taken care of really well. Even when there were some times when I didn't know what Im waiting for, it always turned out that the staff was working on me and they were coming back with a feedback after some time. Even If people responsible for me were changing very rapidly, the information flow about my state was very fluid and I ve been always left in good hands. Entire staff was really friendly, helpful, competentive, professional. I ve been diagnosed with phneumonia and I know, I ve been checked as precisely as possible to get this diagnosis. When I wanted to leave on my own, of course nobody could stop me, but I was well informed about the conditions which had to be met to make it as safe as possible. After my request I ve been checked once again to make sure its safe, and when It was, I ve got a list of medicines to buy along with the dosages during the day. Also got one of these for free. Couldnt be more happy with the people around me these 2 days and Im lucky to have landed there!

First time I've needed a hospital in Portugal and I normally avoid it until there is no other option. (Only my third trip to hospital in life) Was here for 7 hours vomitting and seriously ill was left on the floor pleading for help for the first 4 hours. Which is despicable and worse than I've ever seen. Maybe it is because I am not Portuguese or the usual experience I'm not sure. Once I'd been medicated to treat the acute pain and sickness I was left another 3 hours with a chaotic system with little information or coordination. 90% of the staff were extremely rude would just lie or make things up, I never even found out the treatment they had given me or the results of the tests ended up after 7 hours moving on to another private hospital before the pain came back. I say 90% were rude and horrible because just one doctor who was young and seemed to still care about patients eventually walked past and tried to help in the initial stages (after 4 hours of pleading for help)

Very difficult to find your way to the consultant appointments and it wasn’t clear what to do. However the staff were very helpful but only if you speak simple Portuguese so you can ask for what you want. But the consultant was really brilliant and spoke perfect English. Glad we went to this hospital. Plenty of paid parking outside but you may have to wait if a busy period. You will get somewhere to park though.

Such unfriendly staff! They would prefer not to help you at all because they don't like the fact that people don't speak their language. You shouldn't complain about long waiting times in the hospital, but after 11 hours of waiting they had just changed my plaster, whether I could have a cerebral hemorrhage or a concussion was secondary. However, I was already prescribed strict medication without any real results. When I wanted to leave the hospital after 11 o'clock they didn't want to give me a report because I was leaving the hospital voluntarily. Really a complete disaster.

Terrible emergency room service. An Italian citizen died because the emergency service kept him inside without giving him any assistance, 3 hours later he got much worse than when we called the ambulance. Person had high blood pressure 188 and had to fly to Italy. The rescuers advised against taking the flight and took the person to hospital. The person walked and was able to answer questions and tall. After 3 hours of being hospitalized and having permission to enter the ward I found him folded in half on the wheelchair lifeless with 2 nurses nearby who were laughing and chatting with total indifference. In the end the person could have been saved if they had been given healthcare as soon as possible and not left abandoned in a miserable condition inside with a bad smell. The family is grieving and saddened. ABSTAIN!!!
