Please arrive early if you want to have an unforgettable experience and not a lamentable experience. We took the tram super early(it was right across our hotel and so was doable) and did not have to wait in the queue. About the tour itself - I'll let the pictures do the talking. There were hardly any tourists and mostly locals so this made the experience even more authentic. A must-do in Lisbon.

A great way to get a tour of Lisbon! The tram passes by some of Lisbon's attractions, where you can get off. Expect to wait in line if you're taking the tram from the first stop (which is actually better since you can get a seat and it won't be as crowded). Tip: try to sit on the left side for best views. I really enjoyed this unique experience and would recommend it as a way to get around Lisbon if you don't want to walk. It's also nice to just sit and do the entire route. Enjoy the ride!

With the pandemic to travel is a bit complicate but to experience this line is a must. You can see a lot of Lisbon. I tried all the lines and there is a great view, during the day and the evening. In Lisbon there are a lot of stops to do to admire different places. Really advices to do. I got some pictures from it and videos using my smartphone.

To see the city, of course, you need to take the 28 tram. Hold on to the handrails the driver brakes hard often. The streets are very narrow. If you go on weekends, prepare for a queue at the final station. Now you still need to wear a mask inside, but all the windows in the tram are open.

Tram 28 is definitely an icon of Lisbon. There's always a line to take it but if you have some patience you'll be rewarded. I didn't like much the area as it has so many migrants who took over the nearby park and it doesn't look safe. It is also very dirty. You can use the tram by paying to the driver or buying a ticket ride in the metro station. I recommend buying the 24 hours ticket so you can use other interesting trams.

Probably the most famous of Lisbon trams, #28 takes you to all the scenic spots in town. Be aware that while it's "free" with the Lisboa card, a lot of others have the card too...so it can be somewhat crowded. Be mindful of your wallet. I've also discovered that while you can see some amazing sights from the tram, getting a photo of all of them may not be possible as the tram moves rather quickly and is somewhat "jumpy". Never a bad idea to jump off occasionally and catch a view at your own pace. My wife came up with a good video idea for Lisbon while we were on the tram. Go to the back of Tram #28 and hold your phone against the glass pointing at the tracks behind the tram. Record a long video.

It's an absolute must! Due to the fact that the day before we tralled on we saw such a massive queue, we decided to land up at the bus stop at 6:50am, ready and waiting for the tram, and that was every bit worth the effort in getting up so early! We were first inline, there were only a few people there. We comfortably entered and chose seats, which would allow us to take good photos. We stayed on until the end, jumped off, and immediately caught another. It's worth every bit! Highly recommend it and especially an early journey. No crowds, fabulous rides, and awesome photos. We actually took a taxi from our hotel, which was cheaper than 3 of us taking the subway. Enjoy!

Nice historic tour around the city but it's not worth the wait if queue is too long. You need to come before 10am if you don't want wait much. It goes through some very narrow streets which is amazing but not much historic spots.

Riding an old-school yellow tram in Lisbon is a great way to explore the center of the city. At least off-season (March in my case). But even though the waiting line takes about 30 min. Still, highly recommend trying it. It's possible to open the whole window and chill like that. On the route you can even touch the buildings you pass by.

Really lovely views and a great trip, definitely worth it if you have the daily travelcard. However, you will have to queue for ages so recommend getting there early and I would not recommend in hot weather as it can get very hot inside. Also, it’s quite uncomfortable to stand as the journey is quite wobbly and rough.

Taking a ride on this tram feels like stepping back in time to the 1900s, and I consider myself fortunate to have experienced this vintage mode of transport. In many countries, trams of this age are typically displayed in museums, but Lisbon maintains them in operational condition, which deserves a big commendation. I thoroughly enjoyed my time riding this tram, and during my three-day visit to Lisbon, I made sure to take it multiple times, cherishing each and every moment.

Not sure what all the praise for Tram 28 is all about. Long queue to get on the tram. Pleasant trip but not much of significance to see except for narrow streets. Don't queue at Martim Moniz. Maybe take another vintage tram ride instead.

Tram in Lisbon is a great way of public transport, you can see a lot while riding a tram. This line is very famous and fully crowded almost all day. I did a morning ride taking the first tram and travel almost the whole lenght and the tram was almost empty only locals who went to work used it.

Perfect experience in Lisbon! Must to do a tram ride. The route is perfect and took me to places where I wouldn't normally go by public transport because the road is narrow. Picturesque and beautiful routes

This is a great way to start your trip to lisbon, with a part of history and culture. The old trams reserve the authentic and vintage feel of lisbon whilst you are able to see all the ups and downs of the city of lisbon.

Very nice experience. We took a ride and made full round, just to experince the ride. We loved it. We talked to locals and they were very friendly. Our whole experince in Portugal was that everyone was really friendly and even if they did not have any attractions, we would go back again, because of the people. You may have to wait for tram in the line, but it's well worth it. Would go back again.

If you want to save your time waiting in line for the tram? Find out the next tram stop and go there instead. The main hub had a very long line you will waste more than an hour otherwise it interesting how they kept the tram well maintained and running for hundreds of years. Nice Tram ride in Lisbon!

Wonderful experience I will never forget, passed through some of the most prettiest places in Lisbon, old housing, stunning landmarks, then ending all the old cemetery where a designed bar and coffee place for the 28. Waiting time was 40 minutes, whilst getting a seat. I suggest to sit down so wait for the next tram, it gets super crowded but still an amazing memory I made.

It is a "must" in Lisbon. You cannot come here and do not get on this old and beautiful tram. It cost 3 euro, make sure you have already bought your ticket. I recommend to buy the 24h ticket, that cost 6.60 euro, so you can get on and off as many times as you wish, and also have access to the metro, and buses for all day along

The other trams are equally beautiful but it is famous because of its yellow color (I think!) look at the map and catch the tram at the first stop, you will queue if you want a seat. But you don't have to wait long for the next trip (there will be a trip every 5 minutes).

Tolle Attraktion.

Worth if you buy a ticket for commuting and if you go on weekdays relatively early! We were lucky that we traveled only with few people and everyone had place to sit! On the weekend we tried to hop on it, but it was impossible since there were thousands of people on it. We also saw the long line waiting at the start... (we had to take thos tram a few times since it was stopping next to our hotel, sometimes it was not worth trying because of the crowd)

Very cool and vintage tram ride! Of course, there is waiting time, but I queued at Martim Moniz so that I could get a seat. It really shows you most popular corners of the city and it's absolutely worth it if you have the Lisboa Card or Viva Viagem card.

Definitely something you have to try while in Lisbon. The queues were not that bad late November, but I can imagine these fully packed during tourist season. I think you can manage that a bit by deciding where to embark. Taxis, uber etc. are quite cheap and help you to decide where to start the experience on 28.

Its really a must do in Lisbon. It takes you to all the beautiful old parts along narrow streets and beautiful landmarks. you can jump on and off all day. I would recommend getting the 6.60€ day pass from any metro and scan on and off all day using the tram. We went at 9am to the main pick up stop and waited a good 30 mins. be prepared to stand but it's honestly ok, just hold on.

A fun and nice way to discover some districts of Lisbon. Be ready to queue and to wait for quite a while before going in. Once you are in and lucky to have seat, it is magic ! I can recommend to go at the very end of the day, when most of visitors have gone some place else.

It’s for sure an experience to have in Lisbon. I recommend taking the train from the first station to be able to get a sit at the window because it gets crowded along the way and you can miss everything. Long lines and the tram is not coming at the scheduled hours.

I had a delightful experience riding Tram 28 in Portugal. The journey offered a scenic tour of the beautiful streets, providing a unique perspective of the city. The affordable ticket price of 3 euros made it an excellent value for money. Just be mindful to have cash on hand or purchase cards in advance at metro stations for a hassle-free transaction. Overall, a charming and cost-effective way to explore the captivating sights of Portugal.

Nice journey through various districts jf Lisbon city. Always busy and always there is a big Que. It may take about 30-60 minutes wait to get into tram for a ride

Nice experience.. helps a lot considering the uphills streets :)) really worth to take the 1 day pass from the metro station, and you can hop on and off to see all attractions, plus you can use them on the other means of transport

Great way to travel across the old city center. You should be patient as there might be quite long queue to access one of those trains (20 people+). Trams are occupied fully at very first stop, so this is the best place to start journey. You can easily use yellow Lisbon Public Transportation Card to pay for the ride. Watch out for your phones, arms and heads as sometimes roads become really narrow - several centimeters gap between tram and the nearest building.

It's really touristy. Basically a public transport which has somehow become iconic. Costs 3 Euros, is packed like sardines and you don't see anything if you are standing. Take the same only if you have a seat available and as an example - on our trip, literally half the people just sat there throughout the journey. Take a taxi instead, costs the same and you see more!

Great experience taking the tram. It’s one not to miss when I’m Lisbon. You can use your Lisbon pass for the tram. Just a heads up that it can get very packed and a lot of locals use the tram as their daily means of transportation. They say to be careful of pickpocketing it honestly it didn’t feel that intimidating. It is more intimidating when the tram stops in the middle of an ascend on a hill 😂

The ride was totally worth the 1 hour line. It took us uphill and was a good way to visit some of the city without having to suffer walking up all those small streets. If you don’t mind not sitting and standing most of the ride, I recommend starting on the next stop as you won’t wait at all!!!!

  • 5/5 Bijan F. 1 year ago on Google
One of the most iconic and typical activity in Lisbon. It is also very practical, because it travels through the steep streets of the magnificent Alfama zone, and allows you to get on and off as you wish. However, you should avoid rush hours and go as early as you can. You just can’t visit Lisbon without travelling with this tram !
