Stopped here based on a few recommendations. One by Anthony Bourdain and the other Rick Steve's. Great price for a cherry shot, about 2 euros each. Definitely on the sweet side, we were told 23% alcohol percentage. It's a good spot to stop by, get a few shots in and continue down your way.

Very famous and usually full of travellers in this place. This place is located very well in the heart of Lisbon. People usually go to this place and buy local Ginjinha (cherry liquor). It's one of the famous place to visit and give a try. It's very attractive and accessible. The staffs are very polite and attentive. They can speak English very well. In overall, I strongly recommend people to visit this place. 🙏

Simply great. It's super cheap. Don't be afraid if there's a line, they work quickly. Make sure to have cash on you, but it's very cheap. Be careful if you eat the cherry, it's pretty strong but delicious.

Best place for a quick drink while in Lisbon. Kept spending my Euro bills to make change to buy a shot...or two...or more each day. Ginja is delicious, can't wait to come back to Lisbon for more.

This bar is famous for their shots of ginja which is a liqueur infused with ginja berries or sour cherries and spices to create something that goes down easily. The standard shot also comes with soaked berries in the shooter glass to eat, but note they still have their seeds inside. During the day and the time I went, it was pretty much only tourists heading there to try the ginja shot and they do seem to consistently have customers. If there's a line it moves pretty fast as the store owner is quick to serve, and you can take the shot outside to drink since it's a small store and there's no tables or chairs. On the downside, the floor inside the store is sticky. However, there's also a sink inside to wash your hands.

Cherry brandy shots for €1.95/pop. Gorgeous after dinner stopover in Lisbon with many locals & tourists alike just hanging out & chatting over shots. Enjoy the atmosphere & experience! at Rossio Squre. This place has a stronger flavoured cherry brandy vs other shops.

When researching my trip to Portugal, I read that ginjinha is popular here, which is a cherry liqueur. I happened to find this spot on Google Maps because it was right around the corner form our hotel, and had great reviews. We popped on over for a try one night after dinner at around 9:30 on a Thursday. It's a hole in the wall, so there are no seats but it was still pretty busy. The walls are lined with bottles and bottles of ginjinha. You can order it with or without a cherry, then you bring it outside to sip, and just return the glass to them afterwards. I must say that I liked it better than I thought I would, especially since I don't love cherry-flavored things. It was sweet and tart at the same time. It reminded me of cranberry or pomegranate juice (but with some alcohol in it). It's definitely a digestiv to be having after a meal because it's so sweet. Plus, I think each small glass (maybe about 1.5 shots worth) was only €2.50, which was pretty cheap. I'm sure they have these types of ginjinha bars everywhere but if you're in the area, this is a good one to stop by.

Worth trying. A Giniinhe do Largo de São Domingos, owned by a Galician, named. Esoinheira, was the firstshop in Lisboa to sell the beverage after which it is named and which soon become one of the city's ex-libris. Advised by a friar from the greja de Santo Antonio, Espinheira made the experi- ment of letting cherries ferment in brandy, adding sugar, water and cinnamon.

It is obvious that you have to try this drink. The place is selling exclusively this and even if it is very touristy, but still where to try if not here. Exactly this gives its charm and the queue outside its atmosphere that makes you want to try it exactly here.

This is Espinheria Ginjinha brand's bar-concept retail shop. They operate like a takeaway bar; you drink the beverage you purchase right outside the door and return the glass. You can also buy bottle if you wish. We've tasted Ginjinha here at different times, and we've enjoyed it every time. The problem is that we've experienced multiple times that the same brand doesn't taste the same elsewhere. Therefore, we think there might be a difference between what they serve here and sell elsewhere.

Popular joint in Lisbon to try the local favorite Ginja ( liqueur made from fortified wine or brandy). You can have it with cherry or without, I personally prefer the cherry version. The queue generally long, but with the speedy service, you are in and out in no time. It’s a great cultural experience must try !!

Absolutely killer taste, lonq queues as many have mentioned, but they work very fast and well worth the wait. If more than 6-8 people in a group are going, well worth buying the 1 litre bottle.

A must try!!!! Best Ginja you will ever get. Went back multiple times. Tried with and without the cherries.

Friends told us to visit "a Ginjinha" during our trip to Lisbon. It was totally worth it. The cherry liqueur has a intense cherry flavor and is served with cherries inside. The owner are so authentic - we loved it.

For having tried some places around serving the same type of drink. This place is my favorite amongst them all. Loved the shots with the cherries!

Drink a shot for an aperitif or digestif or any time of the day really. €1,50 for a shot, it's very affordable. I found the ginja here to be more thick, a bit syrup-like than the one further down the road. Although, the cherries here are more bitter than the other shop. The floor outside is sticky because of the liquer spills and probably because people are spitting their cherries there.

The 'original' Portuguese cherry liqueur - A Ginjinha. Only a euro and a bit for a perk up in the morning! Some places do this with a chocolate cup too - worth a try for sure. Great atmosphere around the shop and even a sink to wash the stickyness off the fingers.

The place to sample Portuguese Cherry Liquer in Lisboa. Laud back, historical, must visit!

The liquor was very sweet. Definitely choose one without cherries in it. We knew it was going to be sweet, but had to try it for the experience. We had to wait in line, but it moves very fast.

The original Ginjinha location (according to my tour guide), I came back to see how different it was to the rival location about 100 meters away. Between these two, the one at this location is definitely sweeter and to my taste as much as the other location. It is still a delectable drink, but if you're looking for a less sweet alternative, you only have to walk about 100 meters.

A Ginginha is one of many places where you can try shots of Ginjinha (Ginja) in Lisbon. They are located at Largo São Domingos near Rossio and are open from 9am to 10pm daily. You'll find a constant queue of people entering their shop buying shots of their famous Portuguese cherry liquor (€1.50 each) with or without/cherries. The Ginjinha here is very good. We stopped several times during our recent stay in Lisbon. Even with a regular queue going into the shop, service is quick and the Ginjinha here is strong, sweet and delicious, was our favourite tried amongst 4-5 places this time around. Ended up buying an A Ginginha bottle to take back home with this this time around as well. Will gladly return for more the next time we are in Lisbon.

The entire experience of drinking a ginjinha while standing up outside of the (micro) shop was unbeatable. Loved the drink (on the sweet side, but if you order yours with fruit, you'll get a bit of the sour) & the establishment had everything you needed from it (including a sink to wash your sticky hands). Price is super fair for the shot!

When in Lisbon you've got to stop for a daily Ginja shot or two! Quick service & great atmosphere around the bar. Definitely recommend!

We had seen a lineup here and after we had dinner we took a look. The line up was gone so we went in and gave this sour cherry Brandy a taste. Very good. The big decision is with or without a cherry.
