Luckily we had no trouble getting a reservation. We were even more in luck since the next day they would be on holiday. This however meant not all meats were available, which is quite logical and speaks for their freshness. Very friendly and relaxed service of the owner. The kitchen team works in a limited amount of space but does a wonderful job in a quiet way. The meat tasted excellent. We had the normal quality sirloin horse steak and the premium beef. The latter one blew us away with flavor. The horse wasn't bad either but not as good as the other one. The side dishes tasted excellent, grilled vegetables and potato was good! Try the 8 raw meats for starter: original and good. Price was 96 eur for 2 with 250ml of wine. Definitely recommended.

One of my favorites in Ljubljana. ALWAYS great food and drinks of the highest quality. The choice of food is not big, the menu stays the same for years, but this is the food that makes you happy, it's exquisite and adorable. Only best recommendations, happy to come back again and again.

I booked a table for 4 people. Definitely a great way to see off the old year with friends. A very small restaurant with a soul, where all the food is prepared in front of the guests. Phenomenal flavors, very simple and small menu. But everything you get on the table is so delicious yes....Everything is prepared exactly as it should be, seasoned, served. Excellent staff. Great atmosphere. If you really want to eat well and enjoy food and pizza without it being a classic tourist industrial restaurant, Chompa is the right place. Price follows the quality. Worth every euro. Warm recommendation and 10 stars from the four of us.

A reason itself to visit Ljubljana. Friendly staff, very delicious food, everything prepared with love and attention. Every dish is very high quality. The meet was prepared professionally prepared and was extremely delicious. The atmosphere was friendly and touching. House wine and homemade beer also great! Will recommend it to everyone who visits Ljubljana.

Overpriced. The meat was really good quality but not seasoned/cooked/rested like you would expect for this price. It tasted like charred meat on a dirty grill. The radicchio was really good. Overall service was good but a lot more attention was paid to other tables.

My friend and I managed to get a reservation today and I am very glad we did. For the starters we had the aged cheeses assortment, seasoned raw filets and courgette flowers. I would not recommend the cheeses (not aged enough in my opinion), but the seasoned raw filets and courgette flowers were marvellous. For the mains we both had the beef filet since they ran out of foal. It was done to perfection. The čompa (potato) as a side dish is a must-have. The wine is very reasonably priced. I truly loved our server as she was professional and helpful with her advice. Next time someone asks me where to have a great steak in Ljubljana I’ll recommend Čompa.

It was very nice that they excepted a group of 6 people around 22:00, when the rest of restaurants in Ljubljana are closed. The staff and atmosphere were nice and we were super happy we can sit in a nice restaurant and eat good food after a long day of work. When the waiter came he ruined our evening with his behavior and made us think we don’t belong there. The first thing he asked us before even bringing the menu was: “do you know where you are?” He also argued with a lady who wanted her steak well done and made the whole drama about it although she was ready to order something else just to avoid his rude reaction. I ordered a grilled zucchini for a side dish and got more tomatoes and paprika than zucchini. No problem if I would be told in advance.. At the end of our meal was again problem because we wanted to pay separately and the waiter even cursed us. With a friend we needed to calculate for ourselves how much each of us pays. It is a shame such a good quality food get presented like this. Even though the food was good, not great or excellent, the stuff ruined my evening. Disappointed.

Excellent service, incredible friendly staff and most importantly, high quality delicious food. From fresh in-house bread to crispy potatoes with cheese and one of the best steaks I’ve ever had. Great selection of wines as well. I would highly recommend any meat lover to pay visit to this gem of a restaurant.

Came here in 2012. Stumbled here by accident since I got into town very late and it was the only thing open at 10 pm… This had to be one of the best meals of my life, the steak was amazing, the vegetables perfect, and beer delicious. I don’t want to say more because you need to try for yourself. If you come to Ljubljana just for this restaurant, it would be well worth it!

I had one of the best meals I’ve had in a long time at Compa this past Thursday night (June 23, 2022). Not only was the meat (especially the foal steak and pork chops) mouthwateringly delicious, the service was amazing. Mila the manager is a super host. We even ended up having an absolute blast and ended the evening with copious amounts of wine and singing songs with the guitar that the restaurant had in-house :)

One of the best steaks I have ever had, was served in this restaurant. It was out of this world. Customer service is a little bit slow but people were so kind, and the food was so good, that I would give 10 stars if I could.

Welcoming and friendly staff. They all speak English fluently and it was really easy to pick the best choice on the menu: asparagus with pancetta and the horse meat tagliata. Bread was warm and soft... so good! Red house wine was also pretty good. Try it if you want a taste of traditional Slovenian food. Book in advance if you can as it’s a quite small restaurant.

What a nice experience eating in this restaurant. Staff is so friendly and so glad to help with food menu and other questions as well. Food: this is separate chapter. If you like meat this is a must try place! They serve only best quality meat which is so soft on the plate you get that is almost melts itself in your mouth.

Very suppressing place, looks from outside normal but inside you will find best place to eat. They way how the meat is prepared priceless, the test... I’m not surprised that you need to book the table at leat one week in advance.

THE best restaurant in Ljubljana - hands down. The best quality meat ever, to say it’s fresh and delicious is an understatement (my favorite was the raw horse meat cubes). We tried to taste as much from the menu we could and nothing disappointed. The side dishes were exquisite - the zucchini flowers, potato with the fresh cheese on top, seasonal vegetables…. And the service was impeccable! Can’t wait to come back!

Incredible. What a great experience. From the absolutely delicious food to the perfectly paired local wine and the cool relaxed tone set by the easy going waiter and all the others that worked there. One of the best dining experiences we’ve had in a long time. Highly recommend. Special shout out to the Serbian cook who worked his magic over the smoky wood fired grill rolling out some of the tastiest meat we’ve ever had. Never thought horse could taste that good.
