We stopped by restaurant for lunch, it is a nice and elegant place. We found the welcoming nice but not special, for example we managed to find a seat quickly and sat comfortably. However we were not served any bread or butter for a welcome. The waiter was kind and be knew the menu, which is great to ask him about some of the items on the menu. We found the food to be very delicious and made from good quality ingredients. I think this restaurant was a safe choice without spending too much on a lunch meal.

Solid, hearty feed If classic Slovenian fare is what you're after, then look no further. We came around 2.30pm after a walking tour of the city and there were a few tables filled and service attentive. The menu is extensive and we picked a few dishes from the specials (the veal and the goulash, and also a fish dish. The goulash was absolutely delicious, the fish skin crispy and the vegetables fantastic. The veal was slightly over, however the smooth and fragrant truffle mash more than made up for it.

Recommended by our hotel, it was a lovely dining experience. We didn’t make any reservations and just went there spontaneously but they are friendly and helpful. They gave us a table with limited time since they are very popular and mostly fully reserved for dinners. If you are looking for an authentic Slovenian kitchen then you come to the right place.

Really good quality of food and service. I tried the scallop appetizer, the fried calamari and the veal fillet with delicious truffle-mashed potatoes, followed by an amazing chocolate cake dessert. Everything was fresh and cooked perfectly. The service was prompt and the waiter was very nice and helpful. Highly recommended.

The restaurant is located in a walking street close to the Ljubjanica River. It has a large terrace, but inside there are also 3 smaller and larger rooms. The waiters are fantastic and fast. There are many types of dishes: meat dishes, pasta dishes, fish dishes, desserts and there are seasonal offerings too. The portions are the right size and tasty and well priced. In addition, they are open late. It's worth a try.

Cosy restaurant in the center of Ljubljana. Recommended for their local dishes, especially for the ones cooked with mushrooms. Meat is very good too. Huge assortment of local Slovenian wines. I recommend to try their desserts too. The staff is very kind and helps with the choice of food.

Loved this restaurant!! It was one of the highlights from our visit to the city. Cute.little farmhouse feel. Very warm and inviting. The service was excellent. The food was amazing!! The goulash was excellent. Lots of beef pieces perfectly seasoned. I also tried the dumpling with mushrooms and it was so delicious. Nice wine selection! I would highly recommend this spot.

Wonderful food! I has the sea bass with truffel mashed potatoes, absolutely delicious! Also their desserts were really good! The staff was very friendly and gave good recommendations. We were a big group, but everything went very smoothly, we didn't have to wait long for our food. Will definitely come here again when I'm back in Ljubljana!

The service here is amazing. Our waiter was so friendly and charismatic. He knew the menu very well and recommended a perfect wine to go with our meals. The food was my favorite meal we had in Ljubljiana. The goulash was amazing with tender beef, the tuna steak was cooked to perfection, and the apple strudel was lovely!

Best food we had in Slovenia, we went by a recommendation from the front desk girl in the hotel, and was she right on how good this place was, we ended up going again the next day for dinner. our server was amazing and introduced us to pumpkin seed oil. I would suggest you reserve ahead time as is usually full.

Very sweet restaurant in a very beautiful town. We had been excited to try the Goulash and Beef. The food is optimal. The service could be faster but there were a lot of clients and it could be justified. However I suggest you to try the beef with mashed potatoes and truffle (top!).

Ordered the veal fillet special with truffle mash and the ravioli with porcini mushrooms. Delicious, well priced. Wine is good and well priced too. It can be difficult to get a spot if reservations are not made so be sure to book in advance.

Excellent food at this restaurant Scallop appetizer had nice fat scallops on lemony mashed potatoes. Polenta with Smokey cheese sauce was yum. Either could be larger enough for dinner actually Goulash delicious and huge. Chock full of beef. Duck confit with sour cherry was not a confit but it was super delicious. A fantastic restaurant to give a try to the Slovenian cuisine. We tried three of the 'classics' and it was delicious. Fast and friendly service, great location with a French style café. About 20€ per person.

Deserves Michelin recommendation, but for now it has mine. I believe that atmosphere need to be well blended with food - that is of course: tasty, has some authentic quality and if it is possible fair price. This restaurant has it all.

Loved Julija so much we went twice! Great food and atmosphere both outside and in. Turn up early if you don’t have a reservation as it’s a busy place. The female server on our first night was incredible - gave recommendations of traditional Slovenian dishes and wine, and gave us free bread with pumpkin oil. The cheese dumplings were delicious and the apple strudel. Highly recommend!

A lovely Slovenian dining experience for our first night in Ljubljana. The restaurant is in a beautifully decorated and the food was fantastic. The scallops melted in my mouth and the cheese dumplings which accompanied the beef were so delicious too. To finish we shared the apple strudel, couldn’t recommend enough.

Julija restaurant offers delightful Slovenian cuisine. The food is truly tasty, and the friendly waiter adds to the pleasant dining experience. It's advisable to arrive early or make a reservation to ensure you get a table at this popular spot.

Be sure to book ahead before coming to this restaurant for dinner. They are normally fully booked even on weekdays. I personally love the duck confit! Even though everything else was wonderful.

Great local restaurant! The food was delicious and the ingredients were very flavourful. The octopus was one of the best I’ve had. Good service as well - we didn’t have a reservation but could leave our name and come back later when a table was free.

Wonderful little restaurant in the old town of Ljubljana. Great atmosphere, friendly and competent staff. The menu features traditional Slovenian kitchen as well as mediterranean cuisine. All the dishes we tried were of excellent taste, well balanced and both size and price were fair. Good selection of wines, once again both Slovenian and foreign. Delicious desserts. Best to reserve a table, as it is completely booked out very often.

Great restaurant, choice and service. The venue was packed after 1pm. Had great Gnocchi but now I am super stuffed. Tomato soup was nice as well but served in the table literally 1 minute after the order. A bit too quick for me. Anyways. Nice restaurant. Appeared to be a tourist trap at first but turned out to be a nice local restaurant.

Very nice restaurant, with great food and good service. Really lovely decor and atmosphere too. We were 5 adults and had a nice evening in the back of the main restaurant.

Dinner here was fantastic, reasonably priced with a lovely upscale yet casual atmosphere. Indoor and outdoor seating available. The seabass with truffles and pasta dishes were amazing. We tried Gibenica for the first time and it was lovely (although I have no comparison). I would definitely eat here again.

Amazing experience. The food was incredible. The service was impeccable. We had a reservation, luckily. This restaurant gets super busy, and it makes sense since it is so good. This is the second best octopus I have ever had. Do not be in a rush and make a reservation. But definitely find a way to eat here.

This place has been featured on several food blogs. So of course on my first travel to Ljubljana I had to visit, definitely make a reservation this place is highly sought after for lunch as well as for dinner. Everything on the menu is delicious we had a really hard time choosing. The meat is cooked nicely, even though we weren’t asked on how we want it cooked which I found strange. Nevertheless meat was perfect. The chocolate cake was the best I’ve ever tasted, give it a go.

One of my favourite restaurants in the center of Ljubljana. Recommended for their local dishes. We ordered a few appetisers- from scallops, octopus, salads…. For the main dish I had a steak which was delicious. For the dessert I had delicious Slovenian strudelj. 5* food. Huge assortment of local Slovenian wines. I recommend to try Simcic charddonay. The staff is very kind and helps with the choice of food.

It has a cozy homely atmosphere with good service and a variety of dishes. Located right in the heart of the old town it is easily accessible. If you’re looking for Slovenian fancy food, you’ve found your place. The restaurant itself is very nice and pretty, with a vintage feel. But what wins this place is the food!! The portions are fair for one person and the taste is very authentic. Both the steak and the fish were perfectly prepared, the meat was tender and nice… A pleasure! We also had desserts but they were gone too fast to even take a picture. I had the lava cake (yeah, not very Slovenian) and it was AMAZING!
